Patapon 2 lives up to its namesake, contains twice as much content
Is there a title more apt than Patapon 2? Perhaps not. The upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed PSP exclusive will be double the size of the original, according to Famitsu (via PSPHyper). The number of stages to be found in the upcoming sequel is twice that of the first title, giving players a lot more to play. In addition, the story will be fleshed out even more, with hero Patapon getting their own special abilities throughout the adventure.
Although the gameplay concept was simple, it was very easy to lose the rhythm and meet one's doom in the original. Thankfully, the sequel will be a bit more accessible to players, as it will also indicate when a player is losing the beat. With more content, more enemies, more abilities, and multiplayer, it looks like there's a lot to be excited about when Patapon 2 releases in Japan later this year.

I'm yet to purchase the original (I definitely still intend to), but Patapon 2 sounds superb! Twice the content? Fantastic!!

Twice as much stuff?
Dang, and I've already spent 50+ hours on the first one...

2x? Wow... I haven't even finished #1 yet.

dear god. i havent finished the first one yet either! and twice the content? sign me up.
i dont know about making it easier though, i thought the first one was pretty easy in the rhythm department. but then again, i am pretty musically inclined. they should just make an easy mode cause i think the first one was right in the groove in terms of difficulty.

I think what he means is...you will know when you got the beat wrong instead of game getting easier.
Anyway, I was hoping that the english version will be release with the japanese version simultaneously. I can't wait to play the game!

I'm with you, I hope any nerfing can be disabled in options. I have no musical or rhythm skills, don't (can't) play any other rhythm games well, and I found Patapon easy. Other games, where you constantly have to match new symbols to a beat are much harder. Patapon usually has you repeating the same symbols over and over to an unvarying beat. I don't see how people are finding that tough.
Great news, though. I finished the first one fairly quickly, so double content is a huge plus. The big question is whether the price will reflect that..... ;-D

I nearly finished the first one, started over once some weeks ago after finding the windmill level too hard to beat (and breezed through it the second time, strange). Patapon was, in fact, the game that made me buy a PSP, and it was as good as I hoped!

I have yet to finish it but Patapon was the reason I bought a PSP too.
I hope Patapon 2 is more forgiving as I could rarely maintain Fever which seems so necessary for success. Being able to rebattle the enemy army levels would be better for gathering equipment for your own troops.

That mammoth is HUGEEEE!!!!!! :D
Dr Haisook @ Jul 23rd 2008 11:24AM
Is that a mammoth?
ultra lucky cat @ Jul 23rd 2008 12:43PM
A big Pon-Pon-Pata-Pon on this nerfing business. Hope they make a Pon-Pata-Pon-Pata on that.
LM2007 @ Jul 23rd 2008 12:54PM
Looking at the frozen scene and the body of the creasure, looks to my like some kind of mammoth, but i bet they call it a strange name like a dadonga lol.

I hope that they include more rarepon tutorials in the new one. The most fruistrating part of the game is trying to play it on-the -go but needing an FAQ in front of me in order to create the team I need.
