System 3 talk about Ferrari Challenge DLC, demo
We haven't been keeping much tabs on Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli -- a racing title currently out in Europe and soon to release across North America on August 26 -- but we suppose now is a good time to get back to it. It's an especially good time as developers System 3 have released details on its first content pack DLC for the month of August.
The first DLC, priced at £3.99 (sorry no exact Euro price mentioned), will include the German Nürburgring GP-Strecke course and five more Ferrari vehicles: Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari P4, 430 Scuderia, 612 Scaglietti, and the 599 GTB Fiorano. It's currently unknown whether the DLC will be made available for the North American release next month; the downloadable content seems to be Europe-only for now. Other future content is also promised including the following race tracks: Laguna Seca, Daytona, Brands Hatch, Donington, Barcelona, Hungaroring and Suzuka. Monaco will follow in September.
Also, as the North American release draws nearer, thoughts of a demo come to mind. Mark Cale, System 3's boss, had this to say about that: "There are many factors that we need to take into account, and logistically, it's very possible, but I'm afraid we can't confirm anything at the moment."

This game isnt going to the 360. The man funding it loves his Ferrari's but also his playstations.
I hope it gets some support and good sales, it really deserves it. Apparently the game plays as well as it looks, reviews have been very positive. But sadly, it probably wont get any attention, from North America especially.
Good luck System 3. Ill be buying your game.

It'd be nice if it was a 39.99 title... that would make me twice as likely to pick it up.
Stoo @ Jul 24th 2008 3:48AM
It plays way way better than it looks. The graphics aren't brilliant but its brilliant to play. Especially if you have a steering wheel.
I was playing GT5P every day and haven't touched it since this came out.
They also have a patch coming out fixing some issues and some of the developers have been very active getting feedback from the community.
Albanian_Killa @ Jul 24th 2008 8:49AM
Well I assume this has online. How's the community? Is it easy to find races or is it a ghost town? I don't know. I still don't have Gran Turismo 5: Prologue and seeing as how Polyphony is aiming for a late 2009/early 2010 release, I'm kind of feeling obliged to buy GT5: P just because I've been too long without a Gran Turismo.
Stoo @ Jul 24th 2008 11:16AM
The online is a bit broken at the moment. The incoming patch is meant to address that.

There is a huge and active thread there which is probably a must read for people sitting on the fence about the game.
Some of the devs have posted there and responded to issues and things like that.

A little off topic don't you think? I'm not surprised ps3fanboy.com removed your last comment.
Anyway...
Funny that this article turned up. i was reading some reviews of it just lastnight because it's available quite cheap second hand... good reveiws, seems like a must for any driving sim fan. Grid was a big disapointment, i've never liked arcade racers and gt5 is a looong way off.
Sold.

'Nürburgring'
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
BEST TRACK EVER!!!!
Can't wait to race that in FC.
Stoo @ Jul 24th 2008 7:12AM
Just to clarify in case you hadn't realised. Its the F1 track not the Nordschleife (the staple of most modern racing games).
If you like the F1 track then fair do's but some people get confused thinking they are getting the "green hell" but thats not the case.
Yet, anyway.

I actually hope this doesn't come out for the 360, because my PS3 library could use more games.
The trailers for this game remind me of GTR (PC), and I've been keeping tabs on it ever since I first saw a vid.
I will most likely be picking this up.
tan @ Jul 24th 2008 8:36AM
they left out the Ferrari Enzo, Ferrari P4, 430 Scuderia, 612 Scaglietti, and the 599 GTB Fiorano from the game?!?!?
frickin hell man, thats not cool, i love most of those cars..
they should have been in the game!!
it's not like they're super new models or something..
Rygar @ Jul 24th 2008 8:46AM
Technically, I believe the game is based on the F430 Challenge Series, which is, obviously enough, F430s. And driven by their owners, so it's really 'gentlemen racing'.
Not that I disagree with you, however.
The addition of a bunch of other Ferrari's is a nice touch, and from all the vids and such, I thought they were already in the game.
Rygar @ Jul 24th 2008 8:50AM
I should point out that I meant the real life series is 'gentlemen racing'. The game itself looks pretty fast and serious.
Stoo @ Jul 24th 2008 9:18AM
There are loads already in the game but they seem to be the more track focused variants.
So the 550GT 430GT (As well as challenge) the FXX instead of the Enzo. The 333 SP etc.
There are about 50 included so its not like there is a shortage, but sure it would have been nice for them all to be included at once but that is never going to be the case with racing games now when they can get you to buy the extra ones.
Rygar @ Jul 24th 2008 9:27AM
@Stoo - 50 is pretty good. The future tracks are appealing as well.
Kenneth @ Jul 24th 2008 9:52AM
I agree they all should have been on disc. Laguna Seca too!
tan @ Jul 24th 2008 9:55AM
ah okay
Superleggera @ Aug 29th 2008 12:18AM
i think the reason they left stuff out, like tracks and Cars, is because some people dont care for the selection of game designers.
For example, GT5p - If i could Trade Daytona Circut for Laguna Seca I would. I like what they are doing here, that way, if i want the Nurburgring, and they didn't think some people would, they put it up as DLC and Everybody Happy, no?
HAAS599 @ Jul 24th 2008 9:15AM
I only bought F1:CE after playing the demo.
I wont buy this game until I have tried it either.
They should sell this at 40.00 because of the DLC. I'm not gonna 60 bucks +DLC when I have GT5:P that updates for free.
Rygar @ Jul 24th 2008 9:29AM
The difference there is that GT5P is basically a demo. I'm under the impression that there's FC is closer to a full game than GT5P.
I'm not a big fan of paying for DLC either, but it's more common than the free goodies.
