It's not uncommon to hear parallels being drawn between
Fallout 3 and Bethesda Softworks' other big title:
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; even if they are two very different games -- one's fantasy, the other is futuristic sci-fi. The image above is probably the only one out of this new bunch that gives any sort of resemblance to the medieval world of
Oblivion. So let's play a little game: can you spot the difference that truly points out that this screen could not have taken place in
Oblivion? Look closely. Here's the answer for the lazy: [
transmission tower]
Other than that one pic, the rest of the new screenshots in our gallery below are definitely injected with the post apocalyptic vibe that
Fallout is known for. Check them out for giant bazookas, mutant roaches, and ... kids in party hats.

Yeah, let's not forget the petrol can on the back of the horse, either...
Ian_Shady @ Jul 25th 2008 10:18AM
Its not a horse... to think you looked closely enough to see that petrol can, you missed those horns on its head ^^
Tim Parsons @ Jul 24th 2008 7:56PM
gee i wonder could the give away be the Power lines thing,. whatever those tower like things that hold em up are called.
Waqman @ Jul 24th 2008 8:09PM
Oh man I can't wait for this game. Also yeah, s.bryce and Tim are right, clearly the petrol can and the power lines.
Hopefully it comes out in September. October will be packed with too many games.

Gawd stop reminding me Oblivion is from this crew. I rented that game and hated myself for the whole weekend I had it in my possession. Mid 90's gameplay and graphics are only cool if your title has Mega followed by Man.
Tim Parsons @ Jul 24th 2008 8:54PM
dude Oblivion rocks WTF are you talking about.
Haohmaru @ Jul 24th 2008 9:41PM
What the hell? Oblivion's graphics were the primary thing that was pretty much universally praised at the time of release. Sure, quite a few better looking games have arrived since then, but mid-90's? Ludicrous.

I think they gave you the wrong game.
Vectroid @ Jul 24th 2008 8:39PM
That would be post apocalyptic and not futuristic sci-fi...

So, is this going to be more than just a FPS? I hope so, i was really excited for this but the footage i saw really turned me off. The setting and premise seem perfect, i hope there is a lot more than the one clip i saw showed.
bud_toker_13 @ Jul 25th 2008 12:01AM

The_Doctor @ Jul 25th 2008 6:24AM
actually he's right... it is a cow. look closer, and stop calling people idiots
Frosty22 @ Jul 25th 2008 8:23AM
haha tommywomble was tried to make someone look like an idiot, but in the end it was he that was the idiot. That makes me happy.
Soapy911 @ Jul 25th 2008 12:52AM
oh gee, idk.
Eggy @ Jul 25th 2008 6:42AM
Pffft power lines are nothing compared to the advanced Dwemer technology that can be found in the elder scrolls games.
Concat @ Jul 25th 2008 1:40PM
It's not a cow it's an ox! A future apocalyptic ox.
