David Reeves promises an announcement filled Leipzig
So let's be honest. Sony's E3 press conference, whilst exciting for PSP owners, was lacking anything particularly tasty for PS3 owners. Barring MAG, there wasn't anything there were weren't already expecting. Speaking to MCV, Sony Europe boss David Reeves has stated that this was a strategic decision. "We cannot tailor all our announcements to July," he says, adding that utilizing E3, the Leipzig Games Convention and the Tokyo Game Show allows them to spread their big announcements out, building hype as they go.
With that said, Reeves promises that the Leipzig Games Convention next month will include some "blockbuster stuff." These announcements won't just be Euro-centric, but will also have a global impact. We already know that Heavy Rain is due to be shown off at the event, but the promise or more announcements has us intrigued. We look forward to finding out more next month.

Heavy Rain? SOLD!
MexicanTerrorist @ Jul 25th 2008 2:04PM
Finally Heavy Rain.
But what else do you think is going to be shown? One of 360's big games heading to us?
A Home release date? (That will later be broken).
Footage of GOW 3?
C'mon people, speculation!
Tristan @ Jul 25th 2008 4:05PM
I thought that Sony guy said something about him wanting to be shot dead than having one of the 360's exclusives come to the PS3?
MexicanTerrorist @ Jul 25th 2008 6:43PM
I only just saw that after posting my comment.
Oh well. Speculate something else!
Alex @ Jul 25th 2008 2:05PM
better be good dammit.
we need a counter-punch for the FFXIII incident. X]
Wrathbringer @ Jul 25th 2008 2:12PM
Agreed, though I can't really think of anything that could counter that effectively. Let's hope Sony is more imaginative than I am :P
the_culture @ Jul 25th 2008 2:46PM

frankym @ Jul 25th 2008 2:42PM

lorddshadow @ Jul 25th 2008 4:26PM
Warhawk 2 would be soooo awesome!
TheSh0wstopper @ Jul 25th 2008 2:08PM
So even Sony's announcements are delayed.
lol, yeah I know thats not fair but it was funny.
-TheSh0wstopper
frankym @ Jul 25th 2008 2:37PM
That was hilarious.
DELAYSTATION 3. LOL
I love my PS3!!
Danny F. @ Jul 25th 2008 2:12PM
I hope they keep that promise. This E3 wasn't anything major.. and MS did pretty good adding some new stuff to their lineup and firmware changes.
Make it happen Sony >_
MexicanTerrorist @ Jul 25th 2008 2:13PM
Their big announcements is gonna be Duke Nukem Forever!
:O
GASP.
Danny F. @ Jul 25th 2008 2:46PM
With a new extended trailer!!
50% longer with more looping music and 2x the flying icons then before!!!
Anton Chigurh @ Jul 25th 2008 2:14PM
He earlier said there'd be 12 announcements at Leipzig.
MexicanTerrorist @ Jul 25th 2008 2:24PM
12? As in, twelve big, new, never before known games?
YES!
Popfrogs @ Jul 25th 2008 5:39PM
12 huh? Let's take a stab at them:
1. New PSP model with phone capability (which explains the mic) as well as a built-in camera. UMD sales too low, new unit makes UMDs optional after the initial install on an internal compact flash card or tiny hard drive.
2. 65nm chips on the PS3, moving to 45nm by next March, bringing costs, cooling requirements, noise, and power requirements down
3. PS3 firmware update to include universal voice chat and a higher friends cap
4. Trophy support retrofitted to nearly all first party titles by the holiday season
5. Home open beta by the holiday season
6. LBP open beta by the holiday season
7. Resistance2 bundle with 80GB and DS3, $400, in time for Christmas
8. Zone of the Enders 3 announced, dated
9. Sony buys Square-Enix, making Sony the largest in-house first party console developer
10. FFXIII Xbox development cancelled, costs cited
anthonyjh @ Jul 25th 2008 7:01PM

Would be the lulsiest moment I could ever experience, but I won't hold my breath.
The_Icon @ Jul 25th 2008 2:29PM
Cant wait
KUV1977 @ Jul 25th 2008 2:35PM
Maybe we'll be getting Halo. Not that i would want it but Bungie departed from Microsoft a while back, right?
Vannoy @ Jul 25th 2008 3:15PM
Yeah they did, but the fact that Microsoft owns the rights to Halo would make a PS3 version of Halo very hard for Bungie to pull off..
Arnon @ Jul 25th 2008 5:34PM
Yeah, but MS owns all the Halo rights.
the_culture @ Jul 25th 2008 2:35PM
What about that "secret game" that was reported on earlier this week?
http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/07/21/what-is-sonys-mystery-e3-game/
Maybe that will be revealed.
KUV1977 @ Jul 25th 2008 2:36PM
also, i sent in the News that Uncharteds Trophy-Patch is dated for the 22th of August. Most of you probably now already but for those that don't...
stargateheaven @ Jul 25th 2008 6:53PM
i sent it in too.. but apparently ps3fanboy dont care. i also sent in 3minute video of fat princess, lateer, they did an article on fat princess and with no video.. what the hell? :|
frankym @ Jul 25th 2008 2:40PM
Well, lets hope some real blockbuster stuff comes.
Being really honest, the game to beat at the moment is Gears of War 2. Game looks super fun.
Sony...please please please step on this game once and for all!
Will fn b @ Jul 25th 2008 3:42PM
I disagree. While GeoW2 looks good, it seems nearly identical to the first one. Plus the story of the first sucked, so the story isn't going to draw me in.
Arnon @ Jul 25th 2008 5:36PM
I'm sorry but I had to say something about the second post. I'm no fanboy towards it, but the whole "It looks the exact" same is just childish now. Again, I'm no fanboy, but I respect a good game when I see one.
The_Punisher @ Jul 25th 2008 2:48PM
WE'RE NOT GETTING HALO! GET OVER IT!
I'd rather play MGS4 anyway, so quit whining. Bungie will be working with Microsoft as long as they have dump trucks (y'know, for the money they give bungie monthly).
kentuckyfried @ Jul 25th 2008 3:06PM
Who knows? If they bring back Marathon, I know a bunch of people who would be more than thrilled.
Bungie's legacy shouldn't be tied to a single, mediocre shooter.
The_Punisher @ Jul 25th 2008 3:30PM
I would be more than happy to get Bungie's games. It's just not going to happen. I have a 360 anyway, so ican play Marathon anyway :)
poprocker @ Jul 25th 2008 3:07PM
Two Worlds the Temptation for ps3 please!
Neo Senku @ Jul 25th 2008 3:20PM
Maybe Hideo decided its time for the return of Jehuty in ZOE3. I can dream can't I?
htownhero @ Jul 25th 2008 3:32PM
I think they will have a signing on deal with Blockbuster like MS did with Netflix...
e.Missark @ Jul 25th 2008 5:36PM
That was what I initially thought because all these gaming sites keep quoting the word "blockbuster".
koehler83 @ Jul 25th 2008 4:03PM
I still think what they did with LBP at the presser was nothing short of brilliant.
hnbeanz @ Jul 25th 2008 6:36PM
A Final Fantasy VII remake would be nice :D
HanzoTheRazor @ Jul 25th 2008 9:49PM
I knew they were holding back at E3. Sony don't give 2 ferk's about E3 anymore as it's M$ territory. If there are this many new announcements at Leipzig, TGS will be even bigger. U must all admit though, all these are obviously comming as we still have stuff all games for our PS3's currently.
HanzoTheRazor @ Jul 25th 2008 9:50PM
I don't think it will be a FF7 re-make though. IMO It will be a brand new HD FF7 game.
jack_frust @ Jul 28th 2008 10:32AM

saito ps3 @ Aug 14th 2008 4:44PM
jack_frost, you are a idiot, if all those are not blockbusters, then why are you even a gamer, a trailer is not blockbuster? so you hate god of war 3 trailer because god of war 3 is not out yet? you dont care about 2009 or 2010? so you dont care about final fantasy 13 or white knight story or killzone 2? guess those are not blockbusters since they wont be out now
