It's another week for the Poll Police to roll into town and get your take on a random, but relevant, issue that has come up over the past few days. While there are tons of new things on the PlayStation Store, we're most interested to see if you've tried the new offering from Q Games, the folks who brought the acclaimed
PixelJunk Monsters. Their new title,
PixelJunk Eden, has a demo up on the store right now that allows for a surprising amount of play. Have you tried it?
Our opinion? We've tried it out and we're pretty sure it's going to be a fun game. It's simple to pick up and play, has an excellent musical feel to it, and just plain makes us smile. Even though the full game isn't out yet, we're very excited to see what Q Games has in store for us after this game. You can check out the results from
last week's poll after the cut.

It seems the world is split up over how to feel about E3. While developers and the media feel the event is dying off and is no longer what it used to be, gamers seem torn about whether or not they like what they see. While the majority of the votes went towards a positive reaction to the show, they were by no means overwhelming the other choices. We're left with a hollow feeling -- is E3 dying? It seems that the lukewarm reactions in this poll indicate so. Thanks for voting everyone!

wife liked it too, looks like first day buy for me.
Phoenix8387 @ Jul 27th 2008 9:33PM
Absolutely loved it. I'll be picking up Eden as soon as I get back from vacation... Maybe I'll leave the PS3 in remote play and download/play it during vacation if I can find a WiFi spot.
vahdyx @ Jul 27th 2008 9:36PM
I enjoyed the demo, but I didn't purchase the game. I should but hey, I bought Siren instead.
Fine, I buy it. PS3 Support
Marco Cano Jr @ Jul 27th 2008 10:03PM
Wtf are you saying?
Marco Cano Jr @ Jul 27th 2008 10:10PM
WTf is this?
Waqman @ Jul 28th 2008 4:48PM
Hahaha that makes no sense. Can somebody translate that for me?
Anyways when I first played the demo I thought it wasn't that good. But the second time around when I got used to the controls.....thats when the addictive "Pixeljunkilitis" kicked in. I can't get enough of the demo.
First day buy for me.
NipGrip @ Jul 27th 2008 9:38PM
Tried it, love it, can't wait to buy it and see more. I am sad that the demo is over but it *really* made me want more.
halebound00 @ Jul 27th 2008 10:35PM
Yo Nip, if you go into your game save folder, you can delete the info for the game and then play it all over again. I've done it like 5 times so that me and my wife can see who is the best.
oOo BioShock oOo @ Jul 27th 2008 9:41PM
I played it last night, I thought it felt like one of those stoner kinda games. Like u can be completely drunk and be like wtf happening. I kinda had trouble learning the controls (I know, im a noob), but I thought its overall pretty good.
dr_albagarcia @ Jul 27th 2008 9:41PM
Game it is very good, nice music, can`t wait for it to come out :)
AMG @ Jul 27th 2008 9:52PM
Yeah so far so good. Its very entertaining for multiplayer also. The only thing that was anoying was that the demo was over before I knew it! Deleting the save game fixed that problem! Try it, worked for me.

I wouldn't say it's fantastic...but it's better than just okay. I need to spend some more time with it to really get into it...
farfisa @ Jul 27th 2008 10:01PM
Played the demo--absolutely beautiful, and I can tell it's going to be addictive. Not a fan of the music (well done, just not my thing), but it fits.
Tutorial was good too--showed some depth to the controls (like, not just jumping around).
Eric E @ Jul 28th 2008 9:21AM
will it have the custom soundtrack option?
Anyone know???
Joe @ Jul 27th 2008 10:01PM
I liked it, but I found it very frustrating at times.
I doubt that I will be buying this game, but it is very interesting.
Hotrod @ Jul 27th 2008 11:05PM
I too found it very frustrating at times.
I think if they tweaked the controls a bit more, and allowed the character to be moved just a little bit more freely during free fall, then it would be great.
Joe @ Jul 27th 2008 11:19PM
Exactly what I was thinking.
Popfrogs @ Jul 28th 2008 12:48AM
Yeah, you need more control during free fall. It turns into one of those "jump Mario jump!" games where you end up physically lifting the controller up and tilting it side to side trying to get your dude to move one more inch to the left or right.
Stoo @ Jul 28th 2008 7:08AM
I also found it frustrating but once I got into the casual just chilling mindset where it was about playing not about completing the game I was ok.
My one gripe is the six-axis control. Jerking the controller is annoying, I would much rather just press a button.
Definately day one purchase for me though.
obtusegoose @ Jul 28th 2008 10:27AM
Graphically the game is nicely done. The mechanics have a big learning curve. Like others have said, having more control when your character is falling would be a godsend. It insanely frustrating to get almost to the top and plummet down to the bottom of the screen with barely any maneuverability.
Omen_20 @ Jul 27th 2008 10:06PM
I love it. I played the first garden until I had all 5 Spectra. Now the demo has shunned me and wont let me play anymore unless I delete my gamesave I guess. I cant wait for it to be released.
Dmacleod14 @ Jul 31st 2008 1:03PM
i didnt even finish the demo because i felt like it was too long, and was too much to play before the game. idk, it was weird. but i loved the game and will probably get it
Cornerman8 @ Jul 27th 2008 10:34PM
My friend jokes that its so gay, but so good and so addictive. :-) I agree, I can't wait for it to hit the store. Got 5 spectra in garden 1 and have been forced out. Hope they keep my progress and Trophies (sure they've got some for finishing a garden) when I purchase the full game.
johnnyknockuup @ Jul 27th 2008 10:40PM
Girly game, i need guns and big dudes and blow up stuff. and bang hot chicks with huge chests, only could play this game if i was super high on mushrooms.
bkalasin @ Jul 27th 2008 11:28PM
Calm down there Rambo...
kevin @ Jul 27th 2008 11:32PM
yeah cuz u only got the balls to to that in a game nerd.
Akamaru @ Jul 28th 2008 11:30AM
I think our pal Johnny was being sarcastic. Thought the game he is describing sounds like Duke Nukem
Richie_Tozier @ Jul 27th 2008 11:00PM
I really liked it, i' probably buy it later. I was surprised by how long the demo was, for a minute I thought I accidentally got the full game for free, then I got to level four. :P
Bryden @ Jul 27th 2008 11:18PM
Definitely a step down from Monsters in my opinion.
Kiltman67 @ Jul 27th 2008 11:26PM
Tried it out and I enjoyed it, but I'm a little hesitant about buying it when it comes out in Europe in case it gets a little repetitive.
Do think I prefer it to Monsters though.
Maya Butreeks @ Jul 27th 2008 11:30PM
I did not like it.
Maya Butreeks @ Jul 27th 2008 11:38PM
Elefunk ftw
Dan Davis @ Jul 28th 2008 2:18PM
You know, I didn't care for it either. Just thought it was kinda boring. Great visuals. Bad techno.
I LOVED Pixeljunk Monsters, however. And I plan on re-playing the whole thing (original + Encore) after it gets trophies.
OddyOh @ Jul 27th 2008 11:49PM
I didn't really understand it, but I'm willing to try it again. I'm happy they're trying very different gaming ideas though, innovation will save us from the market stagnation of the 'bigger' game companies.
Archmaester @ Jul 27th 2008 11:58PM
Played it.
Loved it.
Deleted my game data.
Played it again.
Neuromancer @ Jul 27th 2008 11:59PM
Just got a PS3, disappointed that most of these games have local co-op only. =(
Popfrogs @ Jul 28th 2008 12:49AM
Some things never change.
lobotomies4free @ Jul 28th 2008 1:13AM
it has leaderboards. you want to be able to shoot each other too? I personally feel that there are plenty of competitive games out there and the new trend of co-op play is nice
unboring @ Jul 29th 2008 12:11AM
I was blown away by the simply and surrealist graphics, and totally unique gameplay.
anyone who found it frustrating needs to take their time to learn the game mechanics, if you don't understand all the mechanics (although it seems very simplistic their are delicate controls) then it might be alot more frustrating then it needs to be.
After I learned the controls of the game it became sooooooooooo relaxing instead of frustrating, I just felt like a little insect in a garden. I went to bed and the next day felt some crazy addiction and emotional attachment to the game / graphics / gameplay it was incredible. Ive deleted my game data 3 days so far. I will for sure by this day one, this is what makes the PSN the best game download service. Unique exclusive IPs. Oh and fat princess ftw.
Maya Butreeks @ Jul 28th 2008 1:02AM
"...emotional attachment..." what the hell?!
lobotomies4free @ Jul 28th 2008 1:46AM
games don't have emotional experiences outside of story? I suppose music doesn't either huh?
Mark @ Jul 28th 2008 1:00AM
I'll definitely be picking this up Thursday
...and can't wait for Fat Princess
Dakoina @ Jul 28th 2008 4:25AM
Simple graphics, simple objectives... and still it had a very addictive gameplay to me. Too bad you always need to delete the save game or use another account to play through it again.
Music was not my style too. I also found the gameplay frustrating at some point. Especially in the 3rd garden, when the enemies that kick you down to earth again. Still it stays addictive
I must buy for me.
squamginer @ Jul 28th 2008 1:48AM
This game is great. I have deleted my savegame file 3 times now just to play the demo over again. I hope it comes out THIS WEEK PLEASE!!!!!
Gambit07 @ Jul 28th 2008 2:24AM
Just loved it, at 1st it was a bit confusing, but after I got the hang of it it was amazing, 2 player was great also. Usually demos I delete them after playing once, this is the only game that I kept going back to. How does one even come up with a game like this?
bnz @ Jul 28th 2008 3:29AM
I liked it a lot, but i wished that you could shoot that "rope" (or whatever it is) during freefall as well. As somebody else here said: sometimes it feels like there is a lack of control or no way to correct something during the fall.
John S @ Jul 28th 2008 12:25PM
I agree. It be tight if our little gimps can shoot out their silk, spiderman style. I figure that would make the game a little too easy.
I didn't realize there was sixaxis support. What does it do?
I really enjoyed the demo. Another PSN title to add to my hdd. Once you get a hang of the controls, it's smooth sailing until you meet those weird enemies. The one that frustrated me the most was the enemy that breaks up into smaller pieces after you hit it.
I like to grow all the seeds in the garden before getting the spectra.
psn=john_ecko
Brodie-san @ Jul 28th 2008 3:31AM
This still doesn't have a demo on the EU store, right?
Therefore shouldn't there be an option like: "I want to try it but I'm from the Land of the Pariahs and therefore have been denied entry to Eden."
Or something like that.
Mike Candelaria @ Jul 28th 2008 3:57AM
at first i did not get it then i got into a groove i really like it probably going to get it
Shader @ Jul 28th 2008 4:37AM
The controls take a little time to get used to, but once you're over the learning curve, it's fantastic
