Dissidia gets a little more 'cloudy,' also stinks like an onion
After reading that tricky tricky headline, you might be thinking to yourself: "ZOMG, it's Cloud! It's Cloud! It's Cloud! It's Cloud" Then proceed to run around the room overjoyed, plotting out your latest FFVII Yaoi fanfics. As much as we would enjoy allowing you such revelry, we unfortunately will have to break your heart, tear it in two, and then cast Ultima on it. You see, as the picture above suggests, the "cloudy" reference refers to The Cloud of Darkness, the final boss of Final Fantasy III and not our self-loathing, blond hero.
Lady Cloud of Darkness is a great choice over Xande (another FFIII final boss) as there is a serious need of more femininity injected in the sausagefest known as Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Hopefully, when FFVI gets added, we'll be seeing Terra with complementary morph skills. Anyway, aside from Cloud of Darkness, a generic Onion Knight will be representing FFIII's heroes. While none of the four Onion Kids are specifically mentioned, the character design, however, looks very similar to the DS remake's Ingus. Now all that's left is to see who's coming from FFs IV, V, and VI.

That Onion knight's a girl? Sorry if it's a noob question, but I haven't played FF3 at all. And I don't have a DS (And I won't ever have one) so I dunno anything bout the remake as well.

The Cloud of Darkness is the lady on the left. The Onion Knight is on the right. He looks like Ingus, who is a guy.

Those bosses weren't nearly as hot back in the day!

"... and then cast Ultima on it." Genius!
shase @ Jul 30th 2008 1:26PM
how dare they strike against Lady Cloud of Darkness? I would like to see Rydia in it - her attacks are summon creature types...
Alien @ Jul 30th 2008 3:21PM
Hye more characters are more characters :)
es @ Jul 30th 2008 4:47PM
So they added some characters no one will ever play? :p
Haohmaru @ Jul 30th 2008 11:22PM
I totally will.
Yan @ Jul 30th 2008 5:12PM

conor @ Jul 31st 2008 3:48PM

Is any character from FF 7 appearing in this game?
lorddshadow @ Jul 30th 2008 5:39PM
So far, only Sephiroth has been confirmed. Here's hoping for Cloud though.
TJF588 @ Jul 30th 2008 5:54PM
*facepalm* Why would you even ask that? OF FUCKING COURSE!
Sorry, it's just that up to this point, your post was the dumbest, and I have a need to flame.

CornBreadtm @ Jul 30th 2008 5:29PM
Onion Knight seems to have the ability to change his job class (in ninja form on the scans). I hope they will have at least 5 class changes.

Ah, that title did, indeed, get me.
Wow, CoD (which is how I shall refer to her now) looks very hawt. That'd be a definite draw to the dark side (better than "you gets lots o' power, but everyone fucking hates you"). Glad they chose a generic Onion Knight rather than one of the more 'defined' characters (and, personally, I think the only thing making him look Ingus-ish is the blond hair; when that helmet's off, it could very well be spikes upon spikes of briar hair). I could guess that CoD's super move(s) would involve her more cloudy form, and it'd be neat top see OK (heh, that works for "Onion Kid", too) have a massive growth spurt in his super form/move(s).
So, only the quintessential (or however that'd be spelled) FFs are left to be confirmed. I'm pretty sure it's a definite for Cecil and Golbez[a], which'd be cool due to Golby's mage-ness despite being in such badass armor. Like a de-sworded Sephiroth and testosterone (or however that's spelled). For FFV, again it'd be a simply Butz ("Bartz" to those that can't handle EPIC BUTZ!) and Exdeath. We'd need some Boko actn up in herr. For FFVI, Kefka's a given, and Tina/Terra/Tera (compromise, that last one; mayhap "Tira"?) is an appropriate foil (they seem like two sides of the same horrible power(s), one from birth and the other from experimentations). I'd be damned if they don't call it "Trance", though, and having Trance Tera/Tira VS Trance Kuja would be badass (if not kinda fruity/psychadelic).

"as there is a serious need of more femininity injected in the sausagefest known as Dissidia: Final Fantasy."
YES. God, this might be the first Square game I don't have any interest in in a -long- time if they don't start adding some of the women in. -_-
cafecito @ Jul 30th 2008 10:28PM
I'm OK with most of the cast being male, but... I'd love some Tifa or Yuna love shot in. Iconic FF ladies, I say.
Bluebreaker @ Jul 30th 2008 10:15PM
A surprising amount of FF fans are girls so that could be a major reason why there are a lot of guys in this title. Hmm, times change. I remember people making fun of other people who played as girls in video games.
Haohmaru @ Jul 30th 2008 11:25PM
I'm predicting Kefka/Terra for FFVI, which makes me sad - I'd rather have Shadow or Setzer for the "hero" from that game. Of course, I'm biased as those are my two favorite characters from the entire Final Fantasy catalogue.
