Afrika or Hakuna Matata: which title is king?
The PS3 photography game, Afrika, will be unleashed upon the Japanese public soon. However, will it have a name change when it arrives in other territories? Perhaps. The PlayStation Asia site shows a rather different name for the game: Hakuna Matata, the phrase made popular by the Disney musical, The Lion King. (It really means "no worries.")
To be honest, Hakuna Matata is a pretty awesome title. Should this title make its way over to the States, which would you rather prefer?

Can't we agree that you're both wrong?
A person @ Aug 1st 2008 12:51AM
No, because it is the best disney movie. Maybe not the best movie though....
Mattchewie @ Aug 1st 2008 1:50AM
Actually TRON to me is the best disney movie.....lion king ranks up as ONE of the best animated movies.......however...I think I have to give the crown to Aladdin.
However, just think of all the units the game would sell due to consumer confusion :D.

TLK is barely even in the running. TLK is just "kimba the White lion" + bambi. It's one of my fave Disney films too, albeit a pretty insignificant one next to their older classics -which influenced the world rather than ripping stuff off. ;)

JerJerBinks @ Jul 31st 2008 9:11PM
I got that call too, out of area from 1-000-000-0000. It was quite odd.

Afrika plz, Hakuna Matata sounds too kiddie, unless it is a kids game(?)
iamkid @ Jul 31st 2008 9:13PM
its not exactly kid-ish, although it could be considered that. your in the wild, in africa, taking pictures of the wildlife and other stuff like that. its good for kids, or if you really like photography, because this is going to be one hella realistic game.

By changing the name to Hakuna Matata they probably increased their sale rate.
The reason would be because Hakuna Matata is more appealing name for the casuals.
You would associate the name with the Disney Movie. It's a brilliant move.
Burns11 @ Jul 31st 2008 10:16PM
Afrika is a strong and mysterious title, the ties to The Lion King are too strong for Hakuna Matata.
Pilch @ Aug 1st 2008 6:19AM
I agree, Hakuna Matata is too strongly linked to that Disney film and the song in it. I prefer the abstraction of Afrika.

Damnit PS3F, got me excited when I saw that Kingdom Hearts II picture of Simba.

Hakuna Matata makes everything great
It means no worries for the rest of your days
Thats all I remember from the damn song

Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
Why! When he was a young warthog
(When I was a young warthog)
Very nice, (thanks)
He found his aroma lacked a certain appeal
He could clear the savannah after every meal
I'm a sensitive soul, though I seem thick-skinned
And it hurt that my friends never stood downwind
And, oh, the shame (he was a shame)
Thoughta changin' my name (Oh what's in a name)
And I got downhearted (How did you feel)
Everytime that I.... (Hey Pumba, not in front of the kids), Oh sorry
Hakuna Matata! What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata! Ain't no passing craze
It means no worries for the rest of your days (yeah see ya kid)
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!
Hakun-mata, hakun-mata, hakun-mata, hakun
It means no worries
For the rest of your day-ay-ays
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata! (hakun-mata, hakun-mata)
Hakuna Matata! (hakuna matata, hakuna matata)
Hakuna Matata!
Haku-u-hu-una Matata
Hakuna Matata, Huku-hu-u-u-una Matata, Hukuna Matata
Kazper22 @ Aug 26th 2008 4:20PM

Afrika is the best title because it's spelled wrong (atleast here in US)
Saito @ Aug 1st 2008 4:12PM
Doesn't really matter to me, I wouldn't be buying this game :>

I wonder why they had to change the name, but the game language is still Japanese?
I'd rush out and buy a copy now if its in English... I don't care about the name... the game rocks! :)
