European PSN update for July 31st

SCEE has come through for us this week. PixelJunk Eden is here, in the form of both a demo and the full game. There's also a demo of Echochrome Micro for PSP owners, a smattering of game videos and the next episode of Movement. But really, that's all secondary to Eden and the glittering trophies contained within. At £4.99 (an almost direct translation from the US price of $9.99) it's a bargain. Been playing the US demo for a couple of days and can highly recommend it, £4.99 for a cool little game with trophy support - bargain!

everyone was thinking that since it wasnt on the firmware update that maybe it would be on the Sotre updates today.........

Off topic, I found out something very interesting today. You probably already know all of this, but I was stunned:

1. The Ghostbusters IP is owned by Sony.
2. Sony Pictures sold the license for gaming to Vivendi instead of passing it over to their own colleagues SCE for a PS-brand exclusive.
3. The game is now in limbo and looking for a publisher.

If you ever need proof that Sony are the masters of their own demise, this is it. Staggering. Who needs MS stealing your big exclusives when you give them away yourself......

Life with Playstation has been present since the FW update is it not? Haven't chcked it myself but when you look at the globe in folding @ home you can zoom in on an area and read about the local news.

Life with Playstation is a SEPARATE Program.....

it is suppose to be SIMILAR to Folding at home in the aspect of the earth background......but it will have LIVE weather as well.........

when I looked at my folding @ home this morning I didnt see any of that

How are they paying less when the euro price is €7.99 ?

It doesn't matter though as, once again, you can not simply convert currencies and decry a foul when it transpires one region is paying more/less than another.

Apart from the usual excuses of tax and shipping (and all that noise) prices are set by the market. Supply and Demand. Someone smarter than you or I worked out that at X price in Y region profit would be maximised. Et voila! That's the price you get.

As you said £4.99 = €6.33 so the Brits ARE indeed paying less for the game since the rest of Europe pays €7.99 Please don't talk about the laws of supply and demand or prices set by the market, since there's only one place where you can buy the game. The only way around it is by creating multiple PSN user accounts for international online stores with fake addresses but there's a good chance your credit card won't be accepted abroad.

The first new 'Movement' video shows up as corrupted data and wont play. I didn't bother with the others in case they are the same. I don't normally knock SCEE, but surely you would check that videos on the Playstation Store are Playstation compatable?!?

My implied point, genius, was that I'd rather Sony and their devs put more effort into "bigger" games. You know, things that justify an investment of over £400 in high-powered, HD hardware, the use of a 50GB disc and a seven-core processor which can run an IBM supercomputer.

That is NOT too much, or wrong, to ask. Or indeed, expect.

and what of Killzone 2? resistance 2? LBP? Motorstorm PR? Socom confrontation? Wipeout HD?...etc?! its not like sony arnt investing in AAA games! i think games like PJE and other PSN titles are great, theyre reinventing the joys of oldschool gaming that had gotten lost as game-tech progressed!

Jay you have a point about them all being delayed, and I begrudge Sony that too, but as it's intended to be a multimedia console, that implies different kinds of features.

Also for what they're worth, it's a great deal! I've spent more hours playing Super Stardust than I have Resistance. You must try that game if you haven't already. It's only 7 or 8 pounds - the price of a pizza! It's not like you lose out much if you don't like it.
