Home beta expanding to Japan
Japan is next to get the ever-expanding Home beta. The virtual world has been often delayed, but this expansion of the closed beta gives us hope that maybe, just maybe, Home is actually getting closer to a full release. Japanese PS3 owners can visit the PS Store, where they'll be able to enter in a random drawing for entry into Home. Who knows? Maybe a similar drawing will be made available in other territories in the future as well.

It would be excellent if they do that in other territories, but they always seem to do things different to Japan...

I have a japanese account and I downloaded that thing, and all it was was just a theme, are you guys sure this is the beta and not just a theme?

They've had a contest like this on the Hong Kong PSN before. Basically, you download a theme, wallpaper, demo, whatever, and their server-side record of you downloading that file is your entry into the contest.

All i can say, is just release it already.. by now most people arnt even the least interested.. its just dragged on for soo long.. Just goes to show that when you are releasing a new product, good to not talk about it until it's near release than non stop talk for 3 years. People are going to get tired waiting.

Like strike said: It's Free, so stop your whining. Home is not going to solve all of the PSN's disadvantages to XBL, only FW updates will bring it up to par. Home will ready when it's ready and according to Sony it will be ready for beta "this Fall".

You should be happy that your getting it for free

Not to be a downer (I love my PS3) but honestly I feel like Home is becoming less and less relevant :\ I still want it though heh...

yea looks like its just a theme to me.......
I have a Japanese PSN as well.....

Downloading the theme seems to be the competition from what I've read of the badly translated link in the feature banner section that leads to the theme.
From what I've read it works like a lottery picked from users who downloaded the theme, then if you get picked you need to reply to an email.

I think Home's relevance will increase dramatically when it is released. But talking about now, when it is still months from being released doesn't make much sense. Only reminds us that we don't have it.

Well I went to the PS japan site and translated it and it is a theme but also an entry to the beta which it states that will take place in the end of Aug. Its states something about Namco Bandi company.. im not too sure if its going to be a bet in their space in Home or just Home in gerneral.. I got my fingers x

My interest level has pretty much faded away, like others before me have already stated.
It's kind of like that movie that's coming to the theaters that your when you see the trailer you say to yourself that you must see this. Then after time you forget about it until one day your in the video store a year later and see it on the shelf and rent it only because there is nothing else worth renting.

What happens if we get picked and have to respond to an email?
I don't speak japanese......xD

kwhill00 @ Jul 31st 2008 11:00AM
@ this point who really cares. The delays are just to much. They might as well keep it till the next console.
Devil240Z @ Jul 31st 2008 4:23PM
Does it matter how many times you download the "ticket"?
also i got an email about it today but I think it was just telling me about it, not that I got in.
