Did you buy
Siren Blood Curse from the PlayStation Store? If so, you might have noticed the game takes up a ludicrous 9 gigabytes of space and comes in the form of 12 separate files to download and install. What a hassle. Thankfully, SCEE has announced today that it will be bringing the game to the European region on Blu-ray this Autumn. It doesn't look like there'll be any extra features, unless you count saving hours of your life not having to download and install 9GB of data.
Siren Blood Curse is a decent survival horror game, though it's not without its issues. We'll have a review for you sometime soon. Thankfully, a Blu-ray release solves our biggest qualm with the game. If you haven't grabbed it already, it's worth waiting for the Autumn re-release.

For anyone who's interested: Edge Magazine gave this game 8/10 (the same score they gave MGS4 btw).
Edge are notoriously stingy but I'm now seriously thinking of getting this.
Vii @ Aug 1st 2008 1:34PM
That's the same score that Eurogamer gave this game. And incidentally Eurogamer also gave MGS4 an 8/10.

I am about halfway through Episode 7, and it has been pretty good so far. I would recommend it to any survival -horror fan, and it is definitely be best the genre has to offer this generation.

i played the demo and wow were the controls hard for me to get used to...the camera absolutely sucked imho
wisconsinista @ Aug 1st 2008 1:06PM
Ditto. I felt like I was playing a mannequin and couldn't see a damn thing. The interface was swell however. I may pick it up used in time if it is to be released on Blu despite my dislike of horror type flics and movies.

Yes, the camara is totally crap. Problem the original siren didnt have... i cant see siren not having a free camara if its a survivor game and you need to see the environment.
Im guessing with the bluray disc... you need 5gb of free space in youre HDD :P o probably they 9gb. Seriously im going to get mad if the disc needs at least 1gb of my HDD.

I absolutely love horror. I was very disheartened with this game. I was planning on buying it but when I went to attack I usually missed the zombie and lunged past them. Then the camera would swing around while i was running and I would end up going the wrong direction. Very sad :-(
GamerSam @ Aug 1st 2008 2:23PM
Did you people know that you can change the camera controls, and even play in first person.. atleast in the full game.
Fiddlesworth @ Aug 1st 2008 12:54PM
Love this so I'll pick up a physical copy to add to my collection.
Devin @ Aug 1st 2008 1:16PM
I'm with you on the physical copy. I like physical copies tbh.....they say it should arrive around Halloween in the US so I'll be waiting....most reviews give it 8/10 so sounds good enough for me @ $40....

9 gigs for the download? God, that would take days with the speed I get.
Paul (PSN: heypaul) @ Aug 1st 2008 1:33PM
In actuality that game takes far less space than nine gigs. The engine and common model/texture data is duplicated in each of the four packs so that they can all function individually. I wonder how big the file would be if that data only existed once. Seems almost a waste of a Blu-ray. They should've made the downloadable bundle just one file with all the chapters. It probably wouldn't have even been half that size.
Invisible Robot Meat @ Aug 1st 2008 1:45PM
Same here. Glad I didn't purchase it right away. Have you noticed that with some downloadable games they dont tell you how much memory they require until after you purchase?
Parker @ Aug 1st 2008 1:21PM
Why do Euros hate downloads so much? They requested Siren Blood curse to be on blu-ray and also Rachet and Clank: Quest for Booty to be on disc. Why the hate for downloadable games?
Eric E @ Aug 1st 2008 1:45PM
I just finished downloading all of them yesterday, good lord Why?
the episodic content just doesn't make sense to me right now. Especially when all the "episodes" were available right away.
Only advantage i see is w/ little HDD space you can just have the first episode installed and add/delete the others as you need them.
Luckily i still have about 100GB free on mine.
Redfield @ Aug 1st 2008 1:53PM
What about North America? I'm not downloading any goddamn 9GB files.
Momba14 @ Aug 1st 2008 2:17PM
No blu-ray for the US anyone know?

"It doesn't look like there'll be any extra features, unless you count saving hours of your life not having to download and install 9GB of data."
What's the betting you'll still have to install the 9GB to play the game, like with the GT5:P blu-ray which still installs 6.5GB on the HDD....
mixel @ Aug 1st 2008 5:30PM
Well, I love it.
I can't think of any Survival horror that doesn't have "issues." At least when I'm dying in Siren (now I'm used to it) it never feels like its the result of crappy camera or controls, unlike in some of the Silent Hill and RE games (both favourite franchises of mine, im not dissing them) I really think they did an incredible job with Blood Curse. Might help that i really like the first two games too.
The second camera mode makes a lot more sense than the default one.
