Victory! ... Again! PSP takes the top spot in Japan

PSP is again on the top in Japan. If you are just looking for some bad news, sales did drop 6,572 units from the previous week, but keep in mind last week's sales were an astonishing 74,052 units. Nintendo's handheld still couldn't beat the PSP, despite the release of Dragon Quest V. Really, can anything stop this pint-sized juggernaut in the land of the rising sun?

Week of July 21st-July 27th:

PSP - 67,452
Nintendo DS - 56,968
Wii - 41,024
PlayStation 3 - 10,692
PlayStation 2 - 9,291
Xbox 360 - 4,941

good to see phantasy star is doing well too sold 217,000 copies the first day so sega must be happy.

Yeah, when Chrono Trigger gets released for the DS. I know as a PSP owner, I will most likely be picking up the DS just for this release, as I'm sure many people in Japan will be as well.

I kinda though that as well, as a mega-fan of Chrono Trigger... but there's nothing "new" about the new release so I'll pass. I'd rather get a copy of the SNES original.

Better pick the PSX version, at least it got some animations.
The DS version "extra" is a dungeon, you culd make dozens of dungeons with CT sprites in RPG Maker. Squenix+DS fail...

As everyone says... every week: It's great the PSP is doing well in Japan, but unfortunately we americans have been left outta the party. Almost no games to speak of =(

Umm, call me when the PSP has outsold the DS in total sales. It's hardly surprising DS sales have been going down, most everyone has one by now, what more can they do other than focus on the software from now on?

I'm kinds sick of hearing this..... If Sony wants to impress me, they can start putting out some hardware and holding true to thier promises. I finally went out and bought a GPS system because Sony has not delivered. more $ for Garmin. Get it together Sony or at least don't tell us of all the great stuff you have for us and then only release in Japan or make us wait 3 years. great product..... lacking potential. Get in the game....
