Final Fantasy Versus XIII remains a PS3 exclusive

The FFXIII series is finally starting to look like a collection of real games, as opposed to concept work, with actual gameplay being shown off at the event. If any sneaky attendees managed to video any of the footage shown, hopefully we'll be able to see it with our own eyes soon.

Yup, and Versus, is A LOT more appealing, and it is also has a darker atmosphere from the trailers. I'm really happy that it's still a PS3 exclusive, cuz thats the one i want.

it certainly is darker, but frankly i've not seen enough of both games to give an opinion. i mean, 3 secs of FF 13 gameplay footage? come on! throw us a bone here! lol

I dunno... I think they both look great, and will definitely play each of 'em. You have to admit it is a little fishy for PS3 gamers, after loud complaints regarding the lack of RPGs, to begin badmouthing XIII right after "the announcement."
It _is_ and RPG, isn't it? It _is_ Final Fantasy, isn't it? And... it _is_ being released on the PS3, correct?

Its the title of a song from a band but I believe their from Long Island. I honestly don't know much about the US geographically as I'm from Australia!

Verses looks pretty futuristic, and it looks cooler than ff13 from the cg, but i need to see more environments. I like the characters design and clothing in verses more, but the world of ff13 will be great, are they sharing the same environments though?

yeah, it seems like a much darker FF than 13 is but I haven't figured out the story yet.

Can't really say what its about, except a vague concept that its post-modern. There may be a Capulet and Montague style rivalry between the main character and others like him in other cities.
Its a Kingdom Hearts style action RPG with a much more mature tone, possibly aiming for an M rating. Much more action oriented. The inspiration came from a desire to make the action scenes from Advent Children a playable reality.

the exact same words were in all FFXIII trailers (except for the wordlwide part) up to last E3 and we all know what happened in the end. does anyone really trust S-E after that? I definitely don't.

"Versus XIII 13" is Tetsuya Nomura's project. He has stated that he told the team behind Versus XIII to develop the game exclusively for PS3.

You would be foolish to believe anything coming out of Square's mouth. FFXIII was also touted as an exclusive right up until E3 when it wasn't anymore. There is no trusting Square. Their word means absolutely nothing.

Why did they add PS3 only "worldwide" at the end of the new "Versus" trailer? They never said that "FFXIII" was PS3 only "worldwide". If Square wants "Versus" to go multi-platform, there is no point in hiding about it now.

Absolutely not, I've always thought that FFVXIII is better than FFXIII, the dark world, the mysterious characters and the action-based gameplay, it all seems so great, and what does FFXIII have to offer? An ugly longhaired woman shooting ugly yellow soldiers in a weird subway, nope, that doesn't sound good at all, and it sure doesn't look good either.
So I'm not saying "Final Fantasy Versus XIII > Final Fantasy XIII" because it's a PS3-exclusive, I just think FFXIII looks like a pile of shit judging by the trailer.

Brace yourself, here comes the socio-economic bit.
The European Union is a collective of twenty-seven member states. The UK is a member of Europe but uses the pound "£" (they had an opt-out clause of adopting the euro) which means about 60 million people use this currency when buying their PS related wares.
Another 15 countries in Europe use the euro "€" and these countries are collectively known as the "eurozone". This means 320 million people buy their PS wares in euro. Apart from the UK another 11 countries in Europe have either yet to adopt the euro or have decided to stay with the currency they used before the euro came into effect (Januaury 1st 1999). As already stated in other posts on this site, it would be a bit excessive to price everything in pound, euro, Danish krone, Swedish krona, Bulgarian Lev, Czech koruna, Slovakian koruna, Estonian kroon, Hungarian forint, Latvian lats, Lithuanian litas, Polish zloty and Romanian Leu so the two main currencies in the region (pound and euro) are quoted.
As Jem is British he sometimes only prices things in sterling (£) when reporting on European related topics because that's what he sees when he logs in to the PS store. A lot of the times however he does remember the rest of us non-Brits and also displays the € (euro) prices which we thank him for profusely.

Oh, and as for FFXIII Vs. FFVXIII (I really wish it had a different name!) and people like Deftly who claim Sony fanboys are dissing FFXII just because it lost its exclusivity, I too was always more fascinated with Versus but that's just me. I'll be getting both.

My thoughts exactly. Once a Square-Enix fanboy, I now don't trust anything they say. It's going to take a lot less talking and a lot more action from now on.

Versus XIII will remain PS3 exclusive...Until E3 2009 or E3 2010, when Microsoft will walk up to SE with another nice, fat check, and history will repeat itself.
Let's try not to have too much faith in SE again, guys. While I don't blame them for breaking exclusivity on XIII, I see no reason to expect any different from them in the future.

I don't see why FF exclusivity matters so much. The PS3 is doing really well lately regardless of losing an exclusive. Exclusivity is the loss of consumer choice, and somehow that's being translated into a good thing. Since when do we want to empower the companies that take our money and laugh at us later (all three do it).
It's apparent that exclusivity is hurting the developers/publishers more than the console makers. And the devs are the ones we should be caring about!

some people like me havent liked the style of any FFs since 9. finally versus is giving us a darker more futuristic looking FF similar to 7 and 8. i just hated the style of characters in FFX and FFXII. even tho the prince in versus is a little similar to clouds appearance, thank god its not another vaan.

Hey Khaled, despite the nonsense I usually post to this site, I do not live on another planet. Europe (and US) is part of Worldwide.
If it says "This game is PS3 exclusive worldwide" that means, in this world, it's only on PS3.
I think this phrase is come about purely from the trailer at E3 where FFXIII was stated as "PS3 Only .... in Japan."
They're just emphasising that it's PS3 exclusive irrespective of the region.
That said, I also don't "trust" SE and, unfortunately, wouldn't be surprised if Versus also appeared on other consoles. Now, before I get voted down (like I did the last time I mentioned this!!!) I don't WANT it to ... I just think that it might.
