The early stages of development mean a lot of different things for a lot of different developers. Speaking with UK magazine gamesTM and
brought to our attention by videogaming247, Fumito Ueda said "production has not reached the critical stage. The company is very reasonable thanks to my achievements in the past. So, although I do get pressurised, that's not happened yet [on the current project], and that's something I feel gratitude for, that the company gives us the opportunity to focus by giving us time."
What does this mean? Simply put, Ueda isn't getting pressured to show off his game yet because Sony knows brilliance takes time. The game is too young, too early in production stages, to really show off. We're willing to wait because we're sure when Ueda is ready to show the world, the world will watch.

I didnt like ICO or Shadow, but I do respect both titles. I just happened to suck at both of them. I am anxious to see what they're up to now.

Probably another game you're going to suck at. ;)

Damn, he looks young. I just finished SoTC this weekend. Excellent game.
Gloqwi @ Aug 6th 2008 4:35AM
He looks like he IS the guy on the Ico cover. Never played any of his games, always wanted to, never did, but I will attempt to play whatever his new game is.

Please take your sweet time (and give us something phenomenal)
anthonyjh @ Aug 5th 2008 9:35PM
Judging by his past accomplishments, I expect nothing more than phenomenal. I will wait, and will do so with baited breath.
ImBakinBacon @ Aug 5th 2008 9:39PM
...which game is this...?
Parker @ Aug 5th 2008 9:49PM
Thank goodness. Sony has a bit of a problem showing stuff way too soon. It often gets them into trouble when the games aren't quite ready to go. Take your time do it right and show it when you are absolutely ready to. We don't need to see a game that is a year off right now.

Arro, Arro! Arrooooooooooooooooooo!

This is how a relationship between sony and the developers should be. Not only that. but the comment that smmed up this article is perfect."when Ueda is ready to show the world, the world will watch."
Averna @ Aug 5th 2008 10:30PM
Looks like he is playing with a wii.
Anyway, yeah I think not showing anything is a good idea. Let then get to a spot where a foreseeable release date has been determined before you show stuff.

Did he honestly say "pressurized" or was that a bad translation?
kentuckyfried @ Aug 6th 2008 1:10AM
I wonder if this is Sony's "ace in the hole" that was being raved about at E3, that mystery game...probably not.
Gambit07 @ Aug 6th 2008 1:46AM
I think Ueda will become as big or a bigger superstar then Kojima.
Nathan @ Aug 6th 2008 4:23AM
Who says "pressurized"? i really hope that was a typo
lobotomies4free @ Aug 6th 2008 9:47AM
I don't say this often but thank you for taking your sweet time with this one

This is by far the most difficult game to wait for. It's easier waiting for GoW3, Uncharted 2, MGS4(before it came out obviously), etc.
Good thing is the wait will DEFINITELY be worth it.
