Megadeth headlines Roadrunner Rock Band track pack

This week's Rock Band DLC consists entirely of the record label Roadrunner's bands. Each song will be $0.99 while the entire track pack will be $5.99 during the first month. Afterwards, the price rises to $1.99 and $9.99, respectively. We wish games were priced this way, don't you?
As usual, the tracks will be available for download Thursday, August 14th. Arguably the most well-known of these bands is Megadeth, but you can decide for yourself after you check out this week's selections:

finally. megadeth, machinehead and devildriver are great metal bands and hope this is just the beginning of this genre of music coming to rockband. bring on slayer.
leatherface @ Aug 9th 2008 11:10AM
oh, by the way, what about the double bass. these bands are known for that. is their some way to plug in two kicks or are we screwed to shell out for something new.
Justin @ Aug 8th 2008 7:34PM
that is awsome but where is slipknot dlc? we better see some me before the new album or there is gonna be a riot
leatherface @ Aug 8th 2008 7:38PM
hell yeah maggot!!!!!
cooljnipplez @ Aug 8th 2008 8:00PM
hell... i would buy a full slipknot album! did anyone see them on the rock mayhem festival?
MakaiOokami @ Aug 8th 2008 8:04PM
Why do people like Guitar Hero again? I mean... less songs, more expensive, less often updated, you can't sample the music in store like with Rock Band, and most importantly, they are missing 3 instruments that you can play with at any give point in time...
Fact is Rock Band has proven itself time and time again to be an expanding dynamic, amazing experience with plenty of choices, while Guitar Hero proves, that you hardly get much more after you get the disc, and even if you do get something new, you have to pay out the ass for it as well.
adolson @ Aug 9th 2008 12:13AM
When you said Guitar Hero, I thought you were referring to Dave Mustaine, cuz he's a Guitar player, and he's my Hero.
lego91994 @ Aug 9th 2008 1:56AM
Since when is Guitar Hero more expensive? It's $100 vs. $180 for Rock Band. Besides, not everyone really cares about the extra instruments and DLC has been getting more and more frequent for GH3. Even if the DLC is more expensive, Rock Band's 3 pack's are normally $5.99 (as far as i remember) and GH's are $6.50, so it isn't much of a difference. And in Europe people don't have any choice as Rock Band is only out for 360 there, and even then is ridiculously expensive.
While Rock Band is really good and probably the better game, Guitar Hero isn't as bad as its made out to be either. Most of these problems probably won't even be in GH:WT either, with them promising more DLC, and it looks like they might fulfill that as GH3 DLC has been getting more frequent.
AltCtrlPwn @ Aug 9th 2008 2:14AM
@ lego91994:
It's $5.49 for the 3 pack.
MakaiOokami @ Aug 10th 2008 2:22PM
Alot of songs are coming out for 1.00 so... sometimes it's only 3.00 difference. European gamers are kinda screwed but.. other than that... hopefully Rock Band 2 will start to redeem Harmonix. If not I can understand them going to GHWT but... why would you want to limit yourself to just 1 instrument? The Bass is a different experience and can be so much fun, and drums are just like no other. I think you're really missing out if you aren't playing Rockband UNLESS you have super uber skills and have no life and can 5 star Dragonforce... then again will you really care for GH anyway?
Gaucho @ Aug 8th 2008 8:19PM
And now I REALLY regret never having bought Rock Band. Curse you mortgage/maintenance/misc. bills!!!! Curse you to Hell!!!!
adolson @ Aug 8th 2008 10:52PM
This is excellent news, indeed. And I'm really, really glad that it's Sleepwalker, and not one of their older tracks... The new stuff is awesome (kinda going the opposite way that Metallica is going - they're getting shittier, 'deth is getting better, IMHO).
Nick @ Aug 8th 2008 11:19PM
Megadeth is definitely turning around (I don't think I need to write about Risk or The World Needs a Hero) but they still haven't put out a Rust in Peace or Countdown quality album in a long time. Megadeth is my favorite band, so I'm glad to see that Dave is taking the band in a good direction.
adolson @ Aug 9th 2008 3:20AM
UA and TSHF were pretty freaking awesome, dude. But for me, they're better than RIP and CTE because, while they retain amazing music, Dave's singing has improved a lot (my opinion). Don't get me wrong, I love RIP too, I'm just one of those rare fans who prefers the newer stuff but still loves the old (same way with Iron Maiden, actually - both are amazing live, too). My wife is the same way. Maybe we're the only two 'deth fans who elevate UA and TSHF higher than the rest, but... We do. Though, it's weird, cuz my favorite song of theirs is from TWNAH (Dread - I already loved it before, but after seeing the live DVD with that as the opener, and Dave's slobber falling out of his mouth, lol, I think it got set in stone, though Kill the King is pretty great too, and I love the guitar sound on Angry Again)...
Risk and CW weren't as good as CTE and RIP, of course, you're right there. But they're still nowhere near the abomination that Load and Re-Load and St. Anger have been. :)
Man, that's a lot of crap I wrote just now that probably most people won't read and don't care about. lol
infekt @ Aug 8th 2008 9:58PM
Now Rockband is worth getting for me.
Haohmaru @ Aug 8th 2008 10:13PM
What? No Opeth? ;) I guess in a way fans should be glad of that, though.
Nick @ Aug 8th 2008 10:39PM
Sleepwalker? Man, I want some Burnt Ice. That track is sick.
adolson @ Aug 9th 2008 12:14AM
I want the whole album, TBH.
Richie_Tozier @ Aug 9th 2008 12:22AM
Glad they brought out a Megadeth song, but Sleepwalker? I was hoping for something better. If they ever make Holy Wars...The Punishment Due for Rockband, i'd buy it immediately.
Megadeths my favorite band too Nick.
bassiks @ Aug 9th 2008 1:46PM
Hell yeah, GH/RB NEED Holy wars. Its a perfect song for them.
Pretty much all the songs on RIP would be awesome.
Sleepwalker is a good choice, I'm glad its not gears of war because IMO it doesn't really scream megadeth as much as the rest of the album, I'm pretty pissed that rockband took so long to appear on British soil because i would of bought that over GH any day. I just hope RB2 is released in the uk in the same year as in America lol.
I'd like if rockband just put entire albums up, Not these mixed up packs where you have to buy 5 songs for the sake of getting one, Maybe if there was some sort of itunes thing where each track was 70p it would be good.
I'll be buying rockband 2 when its released in the uk, The GH section of the store is pathetic compared to the RB section.
Still GH: Metallica is something to look forward to i suppose, Well as long as the majority of the tracks are from before metalica became shit...ica
StaticKevin @ Aug 9th 2008 12:54AM
I predict Sleepwalker to be Megadeth's number-one sold song on iTunes after this game comes out.
Hell, it did it to Stricken for Disturbed.
Han @ Aug 9th 2008 1:57AM
I'm pumped about Dream Theater. That guitar solo will be insane.
Travis @ Aug 9th 2008 6:56AM
Dream Theater - Constant Motion is going to be sick. Finally we get some prog metal on Rockband. And for Rockband 2 we get one of DT's most technical drum songs, talk about another broken drumkit.
Shraylo @ Aug 9th 2008 10:55AM
I thought I was going to have to wait until Rock Band 2 to play some Dream Theater. Now it's all changed, and it's less than a week away!
I'M SO HAPPY!!!
Mike @ Aug 10th 2008 2:35AM
DREAM THEATER!!!!!
bugatti23007 @ Aug 9th 2008 4:32PM
How about Slipknot-Psychosocial and Bullet For My Valentine-Waking the demon.I had tickets to go to see BFMV last night but I looked nothing like the metal heads there so I left because they would probably pick on me since its my first metal concert and I know nothing about what to wear.
Daniel @ Aug 10th 2008 4:36AM
Good to see so many Megadeth fans here! It's my favourite band since 6 years!
Aaron @ Aug 18th 2008 2:42AM
MACHINE HEAD WHOOOOOOO!!! FUCK YEAH !! METAL ALL THE WAY TILL I DIE, BRING BACK DIMEBAG, HE WOULD KICK ALL YOUR ASS. lol, xccxfdsgfngscb
