Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars races towards PSN with Trophies and YouTube support
Wow, that's a long title. Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars by Psyonix Studios will strike PSN in early fall 2008. SAR-PB-C is "an arena-based online vehicle sports game" that's inspired by the game of soccer (football for the rest of the world).
The game will feature extensive stats tracking, ranking and rewards. However, more exciting is the announcement of popular features, like Trophy support and the ability to record gameplay directly to YouTube. It's great to see third party developers starting to take advantage of the various capabilities of the PS3.
Humorously, Dave Hagewood, Director of Development at Psyonix Studios talked in a press release: "Thankfully, we don't have to worry about fitting this title on a package."

Am I the only one that wants Twisted Metal instead? I know their not related but why not clone that instead of making a 3D Calling All Cars. :X
Cars + Sports = A big fat MEH!
Cars + Guns = HELL YES!
Oh and FYI Andizzle/Fizzle's PSN ID is: MFDABADKID

Looks really sharp and stylistically it's not tacky like a lot of similar games.
Stoo @ Aug 8th 2008 3:31PM
Should have used Toyota Aygo's instead.
Still looks interesting though could very easily go either way.

Looks like the controls & the physics will make or break this game.
Waqman @ Aug 8th 2008 4:02PM
Eh I'll wait for a demo.

Wow, that's one of the worst titles I've ever heard. It doesn't even make a pleasing sounding acronym.
And maybe it's just me, but the screenshots kind of look like they're from some old OpenGL freeware Windows game or something.
But I'm reserving judgement till I see more. I'm sure I'll end up buying it for the trophies, if nothing else.
thinkofmeasmra @ Aug 8th 2008 4:21PM
best. title. ever!
Im going to buy it just so I can say it when people ask what games I have lol
damonx @ Aug 8th 2008 4:30PM
never heard about this game before
boxmyth @ Aug 8th 2008 4:53PM
This is a prime example of something needing a demo BEFORE it releases. It has a concept that could be buckets of fun if executed well. If not, it'll just be another Toy Home.
Popfrogs @ Aug 8th 2008 5:35PM
I agree. Note to devs: don't force us to tilt the Sixaxis.
Mana Knight @ Aug 9th 2008 9:54AM
I disagree, I found Toy Home to be VERY good once you figured out the controls (one of the best PSN games IMO).
Anyway, the game sounds cool.
MJ @ Aug 8th 2008 5:18PM
Why does the title remind me of Mary Poppins.
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Kyuba08 @ Aug 8th 2008 5:59PM
Wow, this actually looks pretty cool. Thanks for the website Fiddlesworth.
*Adds one more PSN title to the list*

I remember when you could play a game like this on the Rollcage games.
Darkdrium777 @ Aug 9th 2008 5:31PM
Yes, it was a mode called Rubble Soccer in RollCage Stage II, the ball was a piece of rubble from a destroyed building and the weapons were the ones of RollCage racing.
It was great fun, sadly I frequently never had someone to play it with. :(
If it turns out to be something like RollCage where cars ride on walls, shooting crazy weapons and all which made RollCage great, then this is a purchase. :)
Sadly, it doesn't look at all like RollCage Rubble Soccer (There are multiple cars instead of two, the arena is flat, the cars look like RC which don't go at 400mph), which makes me think twice before spending money on it. I await the review.
