Video Store update for the week ending August 9th
Again, the PlayStation Blog has been updated to show what new content is available on the US video store. No movies this week, but there are some new episodes from a collection of TV shows. This includes X'amd, the exclusive-to-PSN anime series. Is it any good? Here's the full list of TV shows which received new episodes this week:
- Combat Zone
- Cops
- Deadliest Catch
- Intervention
- Nip/Tuck
- X'amd: Lost Memories

Pretty lame update. More movies, more HD!
Hell-Reaver @ Aug 9th 2008 2:23PM
Has anyone got any news on when the store comes to Canada??
I'd love to start using it!!
Andy @ Aug 9th 2008 2:37PM
Xam'd is a great show. However, it's not worth $3-4 per episode for a rental. I've been watching it elsewhere and I'll buy it on Blu-ray once those are released.
RockerAnimeFreak @ Aug 9th 2008 3:40PM
I've been watching it "elsewhere" aswell! =D can't wait for the blu-ray to come out!
Tim Parsons @ Aug 9th 2008 4:08PM
where's elsewhere i can't seem to find it , i didnt think it would be hard but i cant seem to
Andy @ Aug 10th 2008 1:10AM
@Tim Parsons
"Elsewhere" would be *coughcoughTokyoToshokan*youdidnthearitfrommecough*
frankym @ Aug 9th 2008 2:58PM
Pathetic.
Why even bother with this Sony. Focus on the games.
Eggy @ Aug 9th 2008 3:02PM
Come on use your brain for half a second and come to the conclusion that the people running the video store are not the ones developing games.
Really with comments like yours you're only making yourself look like a fool.
Tim Parsons @ Aug 9th 2008 3:26PM
so SONY should stop making TV's, Stereos, shutdown SONY Pictures movie studios, shutdown SONY Music and everythign else their involved in and focus just on games??,.
get a clue fool
maroofh @ Aug 9th 2008 3:35PM
That's a bit harsh. And wouldn's Sony still be spending money and resources to create and maintain the store, which could be used elsewhere e.g. games. I don't really care since there's no such thing as Europe on Sony's map
Eggy @ Aug 9th 2008 6:09PM
Of course it costs Sony money but it's a highly profitable investment.
Arnon @ Aug 9th 2008 6:13PM
I'm just saying.. but doesn't this video store defeat the whole purpose of having the blu-ray player (except for games)?.. It just seems like Blu-Ray would make a lot less money because of this feature.
Flicky @ Aug 9th 2008 3:41PM
Canada, please.
At least give us an idea of when, if ever, we are going to see this. :-(
Popfrogs @ Aug 9th 2008 4:18PM
I don't know why you guys are getting upset about not having access to this content on the store outside the US. The prices are way too high for everything, and alot of HD tv shows aren't even available in HD on the store.
It has a very limited appeal from what I can see. They're not beating anyone on price.
oglabogla @ Aug 9th 2008 4:34PM
Unfortunately its true, and movies (at least HD rentals) dont come with any sort of menu, chapter organization or even subtitles, its just the bare movie and audio. Kinda let me down, especially when I rented Clover field just so I could see it in HD D:
HAAS599 @ Aug 9th 2008 6:23PM
I actually like the service, but it is nowhere close to being perfect.
My biggest problem is the no special features/chapters thing like you mentioned and prices.
I will never buy movies off the store but renting movies is good. I have bought a couple of TV shows off the Military channel.
Just lower the prices and keep the content coming. As soon as a movie is released on dvd/blu-ray, it needs to be on the store.
No update is a bad one
chillski @ Aug 9th 2008 8:14PM
the playstation 3 is a high defintion media device, the video store needs to be A LOT more focused on high def content... PLEASE MENTION THIS AT SONY'S BLOG, copy and paste if u want sony needs to hear our plea.
