Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty clocks in at 2.3GB
The upcoming PSN-exclusive follow-up to the successful Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction will be available for the masses soon: August 21st, to be exact. Many have been wondering how large the download would be, considering Tools of Destruction took advantage of the incredible space offered by Blu-ray. Those interested in downloading the upcoming game should know that Quest for Booty clocks in at slightly over 2GB, or 2.3GB to be precise.
While that's a large download, that's only slightly larger than most episodes of Qore and a few demos. Hopefully, it'll take longer to play the game (about 3-4 hours) than it does to download it.

4 hours of gameplay with cutscene includes? or just pure gameplay without the cutscene?
Lars @ Aug 13th 2008 3:09PM
Either way, it's fine. Ratchet & Clank's cut scenes are generally less than 30 seconds each.
I can't wait for this game to come out. I love this new concept of a short AAA sequel for dirt cheap.
reson8er @ Aug 12th 2008 1:21PM
no one cares.
Nate @ Aug 12th 2008 1:25PM
Good thing we don't have that ridiculous size limit Live has.
Devin @ Aug 12th 2008 1:33PM
With networking advancing as much as it is I'm glad that Sony isn't going the Live route and can offer games like this that would never be possible for retail.....
Arnon @ Aug 12th 2008 5:54PM
Uhh.. There's games on LIVE that are 6-10 hours long sometimes..
MakaiOokami @ Aug 12th 2008 11:23PM
Actually I would say "Hey at least we don't have the ridiculously expensive and overpriced crapoholic drives 360 has. 250 dollars for 500 GB is infinately better than 180 dollars for 120GB Microsoft asks for. There was no reason for Microsuck to do that. They specialize in computer software, yet they force proprietary drives, while the company that produces great hardware, is focusing on making more money off of software by providing open ended hardware solutions...
Tell me which company makes more sense. O_o
Arnon @ Aug 13th 2008 8:23AM
I agree with that a lot.. Though, most XBLA games take only up to 250mb? So it's not too much of a hassle.
stargateheaven @ Aug 12th 2008 1:28PM
When are sites gonna introduce bans for people who say first?
ImBakinBacon @ Aug 12th 2008 1:32PM
I am buying this game.
Scilent @ Aug 12th 2008 1:36PM
This seems really cool. Kudos to Sony on when they offer on the PSN. Off topic look at the aerosmith giveaway post. 330 comments lol It's like they only come around when there is something to be won :)
Lordtombot @ Aug 12th 2008 1:38PM
This is still a smaller size than most game instilations.
seedaripper1973 @ Aug 12th 2008 1:40PM
LAST!
;)
Jason Spencer @ Aug 12th 2008 1:44PM
FTD was short as it is. Me and my kids beat it the first week we bought it. But for 15 bucks you can't go wrong.
duckhunt8 @ Aug 12th 2008 5:03PM
I love how $15 for this game is completely fair to PS3 owners, but 360 owners have been complaining about $15 for Braid :]
GAME-HERO @ Aug 12th 2008 1:55PM
Cool, I can't wait to get my hands on some ur...ah...Booty!
Now, I only wish R&C: TOD had TROPHYS then my friends my life would be complete!
drdre74 @ Aug 12th 2008 2:01PM
I'm glad i have a PS3 and can enjoy downloadable 5 hour games for cheap. M$ keeps saying that downloading games is the future, yet they have a size limit on games and Sony has already started doing downloadable games before M$. It's one of the few things Sony has done right and I'm glad. I see more and more smaller Devs jumping ship to the PS3 for this reason. They don't have to fight over shelf space with a game on the PSN. no cost for disc and packaging.
frankym @ Aug 12th 2008 2:07PM
Buying this game immediately upon release!!!!
maxpontiac @ Aug 12th 2008 2:18PM
No Trophies = No purchase.
SonofaGunner @ Aug 12th 2008 3:49PM
Stop playing videogames now.
MakaiOokami @ Aug 12th 2008 8:08PM
That's fine for me. If they want their system to collect dust because of their obsession with trophies let them. We'll enjoy the game while their system collects dust.
ClockWyze @ Aug 12th 2008 2:25PM
me too!!!
I loved TOD I still recommend this 2 n-e 1 who hasn't played it yet
CrzyNick @ Aug 12th 2008 2:32PM
I hope the have a blu-ray version for like $25 because I like to be able to play something when I buy it not wait 8hrs for it to download (slow connection).
Phantom @ Aug 12th 2008 2:50PM
Or you could start the download early , then go to work , play other games , sleep etc .
iamkid @ Aug 12th 2008 3:11PM
there is no blu ray version, this is a download only game.
duckhunt8 @ Aug 12th 2008 5:04PM
There IS a disc version, but it's only being released in Europe, which you can just import if you want. I don't know the price, so you'll have to look into that yourself if you're interested.
ClockWyze @ Aug 13th 2008 7:33AM
this is not Nick from 74th st right?
NipGrip @ Aug 12th 2008 2:46PM
Definitely buying first day, wish it had trophy support.
Ishimaru @ Aug 12th 2008 3:38PM
Why are PSN downloads so bloody slow? :( Pls to fix Sony, kthxbai!
required @ Aug 12th 2008 8:54PM
it must be your connection as they are as fast as anything else is on my network
Niko @ Aug 13th 2008 1:01AM
Yup, it's your connection. In fact, I couldn't expect MINE to be much faster... It should probably take, maybe 2 hours (give or take).
fenrig @ Aug 13th 2008 7:47AM
huh that much :o, with me it will take 30 minutes maximum
crimson_ryan @ Aug 12th 2008 3:45PM
There'll be a Blu-Ray version in Europe.
Luigi193 @ Aug 12th 2008 4:06PM
The Wii has a download limit of like 60 mbs!!!
Just enough to fit one Strong Bad's Cool Game for attractive people though, which was awesome FYI...
I love not being a fanboy and enjoying multiple systems!
And I will SO be downloading this game on day ONE!
duckhunt8 @ Aug 12th 2008 5:05PM
I only have a PS3, and I'm not a fanboy. And in all honesty, I'm a bit offended by your comment :'(
Luigi193 @ Aug 12th 2008 5:12PM
Theres nothing wrong with being a fanboy!
Its just nice not having to be one! This is the first time i've had more then one console, so its nice to see the Good in them all!
required @ Aug 12th 2008 8:56PM
interesting as I have all the portable systems yet am only a fan of the PSP
adolson @ Aug 13th 2008 4:48PM
I thought I recognized that nick.. I think I had you on my Wii address book (when I used to turn that thing on, lol). Maybe you're still on there..
BIGMAC237 @ Aug 12th 2008 4:06PM
yea me too,its gonna be pretty fun.
Waqman @ Aug 12th 2008 4:10PM
Lame, I hope it doesn't succeed (it obviously will though). They literally said before "If it does well we will continue with it". I don't want this crappy episodic thing (what Valve has been obsessed with recently). I would rather they just take their time and deliver us a full game a year from now.
freker @ Aug 12th 2008 4:10PM
Awesome. I buy. I wonder if there's anything like in the old Ratchet games where weapons passed into the sequels?
Arnon @ Aug 12th 2008 5:48PM
I don't understand this.. They make you pay $60 for the retail game, and they leave you with a cliff-hanger.. THEN they make you pay another $15 to finish it up, and take up another 2.3gb on your HDD.. *sigh*
Waqman @ Aug 13th 2008 8:23AM
Yeah its a really lame cash grab, I aint buyin it. The cliffhanger ending was lame anyways.
It wasn't really a cliffhanger because I really didn't give a crap.
Niko @ Aug 13th 2008 1:05AM
Curious.. Be honest, do you have a PS3? What system/s do you own?
Arnon @ Aug 13th 2008 1:31AM
Huh? Why would that have anything to do with what I said? So.. because I feel that this is a gimmick (not saying it's a bad game), I must be a hater of the PS3, yeh? Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Niko @ Aug 13th 2008 4:37AM
You've got me wrong. Now, the reason I ask is because you never seem explicit about it.... yet you post comments here quite often. Take a look at your first comment: "you pay" and "your hdd", rather than "I pay", or "my hdd". A little odd, no? But consistent with the things you always have say. There's that, then there's also your always present lack of enthusiasm for anything PS3. I don't have a problem with anyone voicing their displeasure over the PS3 -- but if that someone doesn't even have a PS3, their perspective means very little. Now, just to be clear, you don't seem, to me, to be the fanboy type, but your comments come damn close to being those of a troll.
Lars @ Aug 13th 2008 3:11PM
You guys are crazy. I don't know how you could not be excited about a new Ratchet for $15.
Arnon @ Aug 13th 2008 7:50PM
"You pay" and "Your HDD" refers to people in general? You cant be that paranoid.. it's not healthy
Arnon @ Aug 13th 2008 7:52PM
If I was a troll, I wouldn't be wanting to have any relationship to the PS3.. I'm wanting a lot of games for the console.
Niko @ Aug 14th 2008 3:25AM
So, I take that as a "yes"? J/K J/K :) For the record: I've got a 360, myself (didn't get one until earlier in May). And I very much look forward to Alan Wake (I'm a huge fan of Max Payne). We cool?
