Eidos announces Batman: Arkham Asylum
Eidos has announced a partnership with Warner Bros to bring Batman back to consoles in 2009. Batman: Arkham Asylum is being developed by RockSteady Studios and begins with the eponymous hero escorting The Joker to the also-quite-eponymous Arkham Asylum where, allegedly, "an immersive combat gaming experience unfolds."
The game will be available at some point in 2009 for the PS3, 360 and PC and, other than a load of superlative-laden PR talk, there are no real details of how the game will play. Just know that Batman, The Joker and "Gotham's worst villains" will all be present and you will have to use Batman's "intuitive detective skills and aggressive melee attacks."

I hate most of the batman universe. I'd rather get DC Universe Online, team up with the Joker, and take out Batman. Actually I'm not big on most Super Heroes. When is a great Spawn game going to be available?

sorry to say i have no faith in EIDOS/RockSteady Studios to make a good game especially a Batman game. To create a good batman game really good development team is needed and RockSteady Studios is not that team.

Batman...the survivor horror.. you got Puzzles + melee combat + freaks
batman detective skills... i wonder how will the intuition controllers be...

I only hope it's as good as the NES version of Batman.

Incognito or Insomniac should handle something like this, not Eidos/Rocksteady. I guess their plates are already full though.

The perfect Batman game should follow the formula of Crackdown on the 360.
Open world, street thugs, buildings to climb, bosses, etc.
Throw in a much darker atmosphere, and some detective style elements, and you should have a winner.

That'd be so good.

How about a Tenchu Like Ninja Game + Manhunt.
Batman stealthily makes his way in to whatever building and then must stealthily make his way to his objective.

Just hearing the story there got me a little excited, lets hope they go with a dark look like the latest batman movies.

Kevin -
I like that. Add the stealth element as well..

After checking out the cover story in the newest Game Informer, this game has some serious potential if it plays as good as it looks.
