European PSN releases for August 14th

Not a bad wee update today. While there are no full PSN games to grab today, there are a pair of PS1 games and three demos to check out. This should keep you ticking over until next week. Or at least later today when the American PSN update hits. Here's the full release list:

WTF!!!!!!!! NO Bionic commando?!!!!!!!!! SCEE Really need to fix up. Sheep was good back in the day as was driver.i just cant believe that we are not getting bionic commando rearmed yet.as for the interview with shu yoshida. he tells us nuffin new.

if sheep is the same thing as sheep, dog, 'n' wolf, then it's an amaaazing game! it was one of my favorite games of the PS1 era. it had really fun platforming, and you really had to use your brain when trying to finish each level.

(From what I understand and have been told) SCEE has nothing to do with the availability of Bionic Commando. It is Capcom who gives the Ok.

Monster Madness came to the US a couple weeks ago. I wouldn't really call that "ages ago" unless it's something you're really eagerly anticipating.

It's no surprise that BC is not out on the EU Store today.
But you can buy it from the US Store later today.

Driver has aged very badly. I remember playing that game a lot back when it was released but nowadays it's nearly unplayable. The draw distance limit is like 10 feet in front of the car, the game runs like at 15fps and the textures are pixelated and jittery. Most PS1 full 3d games have aged very badly. I never understand why people want so many ps1 games in the ps store. Granted there are a few games that are still a joy to play, but only a select few. I want those to be on the ps store but I don't need to have 150+ games as in the japanese store.

I must confess, the delays usually irritate a little, but I tend to just wait. My patience has now run too thin however, and I'm actually bloody annoyed.
I've been waiting for what seems like ages for some of the PSN games to come out over here. My brother waited, what, nearly a year for bowling? I've been waiting for weeks for 1942 to come out over here, and I was REALLY looking forward to playing Bionic Commando today. I even logged into the Japanese store yesterday to get myself a sample, as I couldn't wait until today to play it. Seriously, I'm gutted today now, not just no Bionic Commando, not just no Star Wars Unleashed demo, but still on 1942 or Novastrike. It wouldn't be so bad, if they'd tell us WHY?
As for Facebreaker and Monster Madness, I've already tried both of those from the US store previously. I thought we were going to get releases at the same time from now on?
Rant over... but it would be nice to know exactly WHY we get stuff late, all the time? UK censor? PSN Store UK lacking in HDD space? ;) What?

No, it's well known Sony only release PSN titles in Europe which have been localized for the required languages (italian, german, spanish, french, etc.). MS have no such language requirements for XBLA titles and usually release worldwide at the same time.
That's the reason for the annoying delays in the EU Store.

The difference between Sony and Microsoft is that Sony plays nice and always tries to make sure they're not breaking any rules and whatnot. Microsoft doesn't care about breaking rules because they know that money can cure anything, and they have no morals.
Sounds really fanboyish, but I'm speaking from experience from the engineering side of things. And it's not just a Sony/Microsoft thing, it's pretty typical for Japanese vs US/China, etc.
Oh and the free demo is available from the Japanese store, so "demo get!"

For me thats wat makes it worse.Fair enuff europe is lots of countries grouped into 1 body all with different laws and languages....but on XBLA they dont seem to have a problem dealing with this. come on sony were so desperate 4 you to succeed but ure making it so hard for us to say' i have a ps3' with pride.ive had my ps3 for over a year and 2 months now and it's so far been a very underwhelming experience

Indeed, i would have bought it for my 360 already. If it wasn't for the "bad" reviews the 360 version is getting, and that i already tried out the demos on both consoles and i liked the controls on the ps3 more.

He's just telling the truth. Which is pretty sad. A couple of months ago we were getting updates which were literally a couple of videos and thats it. In comparison to the previous rubbish updates this is pretty good.

Why bother with EU-store? For me, living in Sweden it's much cheaper to buy from US or HK store. I bought Bionic Commando from HK-store earlier this morning. Best buy on PSN so far :)

Driver was my favorite game on PS1... but now its not playable, its too dated.. I still have my copy of it and just played it the draw distance is a joke for to days standards... I don't see why sony wastes time trying to get people to buy classics...

Well i would love to get some classics, but not these crap ones.
They could easily get some awesome rpgs or horror games that the Japanese psn store got.
But instead we get crap games like driver.

There are plenty of PS1 games still "worth playing," and Castlevania: SotN is pretty much the only one currently on the US PS Store. I'm not asking for much! Just a few of the games currently on the Japanese store! Alundra, Brave Fencer Musashi, Xenogears.. gah.
