The Overlord and his minions will return in 2009

Think you've seen the last of Overlord? Think again. Codemasters has announced that a sequel, Overlord II, is now in development at Triumph Studios. The game will retain the same gameplay of the first title, whilst increasing the scale of the game dramatically. Emphasis seems to be on epic battles between The Overlord and his minions and a new, Roman-esque, civilization that has set out to thwart him.

Minions are now able to ride into battle on various different creatures and the environments are promised to vary far more than in the original. Overlord was a pretty decent title, considering how early in this generation's cycle it was released, so we're looking forward to finding more about Overlord II between now and its 2009 release.

the first 1 had potential to be a good game but it was too fiddly. i would give the new 1 a chance though

Sweet I love the first one (still have not beat it yet) I am way excited for the second version. Being in a world were everything is a shooter i was glad to play a game that was very different then everything else on the market . . . Keep up the great work codemasters they always make really good games

The voice acting was good, especially the little Yoda guy...good game for its time. Just too repetitive gameplay-wise for my tastes, but you know what you're getting into.

I enjoyed the Demo of the first one. I'm waiting for it to drop in price before I would get it. I'm might skip it and just the second one when it comes out.

Same here. This is totally my type of game, and it's the type of thing I buy consoles for. FPS = PC. Platformers, RPGs, and weird stuff like this = Console.

This game was a gigantic bomb on the PS3. I can't imagine why they would be encouraged to make another release on this console. I hope that by this time next year the PS3 install base will be more rounded out and niche games like this one will have better sales.

I liked it the first time round, although I didn't play on the PS3; I had the 360 version.

I agree about the worl being nothing but FPS shooters, hich is why I got a PS3: more variety.

The only thing I am annoyed about with PS3 is the lack of decent games so far. It seems that Sony developers really do have great ideas, but they all takes ages getting the products out the door.

I hope that by this time next year we will be seeing loads of interesting new games and different stuff like this - not everyone wants to run around a maze shooting stuff all day (which is all an FPS is which you break it down to basics).

The inventors of DOOM have a lot to answer for! :)
