Also shaking up the charts this week: the Xbox 360 outsells the PS3. Did something contaminate the Japanese water supply? There's so much drama this week!

I think I'm gonna cry.....
I didn't mind when MGS4 took the PS3 to the top for a week, but the DS? I'm no Sony fanboy, but I don't see why the DS is hailed as some portable console god. If I want to poke something with a pen/stylus, my younger brother is the best candidate.
I hope something big gets announced at the games convention. I would'nt mind a resident evil or maybe devil may cry.....

The DS is a great system, as is the PSP. If you concentrate too much on the input method rather than the games available for the system, yeah, you're bound to miss the point of the system, but it has some pretty fun games that either aren't possible or wouldn't work as well on other systems. I'd give it a shot if I were ya.

its only by like 2k it could of easily went either way this week so no reason to cry. Its not like the psp is selling bad either this week the ds next week could easily go to either too.

The PSP being outsold by the DS isn't exactly a huge shock. :P It did so consistently for, like, years. The Xbox 360 selling more than a dozen units is pretty big news, though. That's Tales of Vesperia for you. I'm still hoping for a PS3 version of that.

i think ive read somewhere that sony has the most or the biggest first party studieos under their belt. i dont know what is wrong with them but they need to get to work fast for that ps3 and psp cuz i cant imagine they seem pleased with loosing to the xbox and the ds like this.

i think you guys are overreacting the psp is still selling strong even if its 2nd place for the rest of the year or even third if the wii bounces up. The ps3 could be in trouble but i honestly don't see the 360 doing that well continually it will probly just spring up near the release dates of these rpgs.

I can't belive how many people are still buying PS2. Can someone explain this to me? You don't see people out there buying up gamecubes and the original xbox. The only thing I can think of is that if Sony didn't keep selling the PS2 the wouldn't make any money since PS2 and PS3 sales combined don't come close to xbox 360 sales which is the next runner up.

The actual generation consoles are too expensive, many people are just now acquiring the ps2 due to price down.
Even if sony kills ps2 not all sells will revert to ps3.

It's because the PS2 is cheap, and has about ten million games available for it - also cheap.
The PS3 is expensive, and the games more so.

I only bought my PS2 slim a year or so ago. There are people who don't want to pay $250+ for a console. I only bought my PSP this year from my own daughter, which she got as a Christmas present and then let it kick around her room for a year before acquiescing to selling it to me for $60.

@ericLmcormick its not that surprising new games are still being made for the ps2 its cheap has pretty much the best line up of games out there. Gamecubes and the original xbox don't sell because they aren't supported anymore. The ps3 and ps2 usually outsell the 360 so idk how you get that statement from one week of 360 sales ahead the 360 usually averages 5k or less but tales of vesperia gave the 360 a much needed boost.

Like you guys said, the xbox sales are going to have small outbursts everytime they release an exclusive RPG. When I say small, I mean SMALL. These numbers only got it to 4th place.
Was it worth that big wad of cash, Microsoft, was it? I actually think they are planning it all out pretty well.

@hotsauce because the japenese numbers come weekly american come out monthly for this month the psp outsold the 360 and ps2 but nds, wii, ps3 outsold it.

The PSP and the DS are two completely different things. Some people like one, others like another, and some people even like both! Where is the argument? Do people really get so bent out of shape because someone likes something that they do not themselves like? How empty does your life have to be to be to attach your entire self worth to a little machine?

I think the statistic was like 1 in every 9 people in Japan owns a DS. ^^;
I love my DS and its my favorite thing right now, but I do have a PSP too. I think if we concentrate too much on one system we may leave out on some nice little gems on other systems. Like The World Ends With You, on DS, done by the makers of the Kingdom Hearts games. Its definitely a very good reason to get a DS! :O
And on PSP, Patapon. :) Oh so many good games on both!

Persoanally I think the DS is a great console, and its place as the #1 selling system in the world. Is a very deserving one,
considering the ammount of resources and time that Nintendo has poured into it.
Unlike, those idiots at Sony who turned a great portable system with HUGE potential into a overpriced paper weight. After a couple months with my PSP and its half assed games. I simply gave up and bought a DS!
For those that are gonna argue with me. All I can say is cherish you time with your PSP. Considering the fact only one good game comes out every 6 months. The future seems pretty grim if ya ask me.
