Alone in the Dark may debut with budget price

The long-delayed PS3 version of Alone in the Dark looks to be coming with enhancements ... and a price cut? A Gamestop listing shows Atari's survival horror game with a very nice price of $30. Of course, considering the overwhelmingly negative critical reviews it received when it debuted on Xbox 360, a lower price may still not justify a purchase. It's up to Atari to prove whether or not the added development time given to the PS3 build will make it a better product.

Most of the negative reviews seem related to technical issues (cameras, controls)...if they fixed those the story seems to have be received well...will be looking forward to some PS3 specific reviews.

i think reviewers also didn't like the gameplay and story as a whole. i mean they freaking give you the option to skip chapters. it sounds like the only way to improve the game is to remake it entirely.

$30 is half off games these days, tempting, but that's $30 that could go to a better game.

Wow, at that price I think I would rent it and consider buying it. I read the Game Informer review and some of the things they griped about seemed like issues that could be overlooked (not saying the score was the best). Think it might be worth a look at the very least, for something different.

I think they're going to just fix basic technical problems and get it running decently on the PS3, but the core crap gameplay will remain the same.

I played the 360 demo and I would buy this game at $30, definitely not at $60, as long as it isn't any worse on the PS3 (you never know). If it's better, then obviously it'll be worth it. The only faults I found with the game were slightly annoying camera and cumbersome and confusing controls. Even so I was able to play through to the end of the demo and enjoy it. I also hope they improve the graphics a little; everything was a little too shiny and there was a little uncanny valley-ness to the characters' faces.

Fix the bugs, the camera issues, the tedious gameplay issues, a graphics overhall (I have seen what the PS3 is capable of and it is MSG4, RE5, FF13, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo, Mirror's Edge, Wipeout HD etc..) , and implement a menu system reminiscent of Vagrant Story. Basically, they'd have to overhaul the entire game.

The basic gameplay has promise and the Alone in the Dark series has a great backstory. I would love to see the Alone in the Dark series revived with a great game but they'd have to make it first.
