Dive into BioShock: October 21st

Take Two has just announced that the upcoming PS3 port of BioShock will hit US store shelves on October 21st. An international release is planned for just three days later: October 24th. This means the game will appear on Sony's home console exactly 14 months after the original PC/Xbox 360 release.

BioShock on PS3 will be enhanced with a new difficulty mode, Trophy support and exclusive DLC. Retailers, like amazon.com and GameStop, are both taking pre-orders now.

Yeah, I'm certainly not paying $60 for it.

I've been planning on playing through Bioshock one of these days, when I have a lull in gaming. I played it for a couple hours on 360 and I was not impressed. But seeing as how people keep saying it's so awesome and won't shut up about it... I decided I should give it another go. I was gonna buy it off steam, but since there's still been no lull in PS3 gaming, I may just wait longer and rent or buy the PS3 version.

I say, get LBP first and then sit on Bioshock. If we're lucky enough, the price will sink as fast as Haze did (2 weeks)! =D

The marketing people for this product (as evidenced by the features in this ps3 version) don't seem to think that the people who played this game already are that important. They're aiming for new people, and for this they can charge the premium $60.

i would hope so, especially it it's been 14 months. my guess however is no (there wasnt really anything to upgrade in the first place).

IGN said that the anti-aliasing and water effects are much better due to the capacities of the Bluray....

WTF has bluray got to do with realtime rendering? AA is dependent on the GPU not the storage medium. And as for 'water effects' again, they probably mean an increase in stored texture resolution (bluray does increase the ability for higher textures but it's still down to the GPU and RAM to deal with them and they are the bottleneck).

I think it will be the ultimate version of Bioshock (due to time/hindsight not power of ps3 - my PC is far faster) though , unfortunately given that the game is so depressing to play, that's not much of a compliment.

I really liked the demo of bioshock on pc. never bought it yet oddly but am looking forward to play it on ps3. Of course with the rumble it shall be awesome and 800w 5.1 :). Bioshock is killer with its audio and soundtrack.

Hey, I loved the demo on PC when it first hit. Unfortunately the full game was absolute bore fest full of glitches, poor control, messed up FOV, repetitive enemies, over reliance on story/theme etc...

in other words don't judge the game from the demo or the hype. I waited 3 years for this game (big fan of SystemShock2 here!) and it was terrible in most ways other than it's theme/concept.

Why not? Me and my friends that are eagerly anticipating LBP also play stuff like Bioshock, Warhawk, Braid, PJ Eden/Monsters, WoW, AoC, MGS4, GTA4, etc.

We're fans of good games... Genre is irrelevant.

Yeah, you're right and I also want all those games too. But there are some who are saying it's not a good marketing move, to which I replied that to suggest there isn't that much of an overlap here.

If Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 were released on the same day, that'd be another story. Which is why KZ2 is sitting on the bench for a while...

i heard that the textures will be better as well as the the water because they are not going to be compressed because the blu ray can handle it.

The game is utter tripe dressed up in pretty clothes. I've never been so dissapointed in a game as I was in Bioverhypedshock. That goes for PC and 360 version.

Get ready for a deluge of dissapointed gamers who will find out how overhyped this shitty game was at last.

Played it on a VERY FAST PC, and tried it on 360, neither version had any decent gameplay and it was all style over substance (and even then the style was haphazzard and clumsy)

how can you people say that the game was boring and lackluster and over story driven? Would the story not be the main point of the freaking game? its too bad it wasnt a mindless shooter like every other one thats on the market right now. btw this is SARACSM for the people who dont get it.
