Bethesda has announced that the release date for their post-apocalyptic RPG title
Fallout 3 is October 28th. The European release is three days later on October 31st. All versions of the game will be released this day, including the
Collector's Edition and the uber-super
Survival Edition. We added a couple of new screenshots in the gallery below, along with some concept art. To some of us, this is one of the biggest third-party titles to come out this year. We can't wait!

I never heard of the Survival Edition before. A Pip-Boy 3000? It's a tad excessive, isn't it?
I'm happy with my bobblehead and lunchbox! :D

2 days after LBP? I need to start saving now.

There are too many games coming out at the end of October. Little Big Planet, BioShock, Fable 2, Guitar Hero, SingStar, Dead Space! AHHHH!
I.AM.IRON.MAN @ Aug 21st 2008 9:35AM
Tell me about it! i for one don't have the time or money to buy/play all the top titles coming out in october and november. Half of these games i will end up buying preowned on the cheap in 2009. I was really interested in fable 2 in summer 2007 when it should of been released but since then my 360 died (shock) so i never pay full price for new games on the system now... i don't just it not to die again.
I've got money set aside for this baby though and if i time a big arguement with my girlfriend just right, i should have loads of time to play aswell haha.
It_is_I @ Aug 21st 2008 11:35AM
Maybe they are doing this is because the month of November is flooded 360 releases like....GoW2? I'm sure they want to maximize sales. Just a thought.
thoraxe112 @ Aug 21st 2008 9:22AM

@Thorax
I am with you guys 100% on this. There are simply to many games bunched up at the end of October. Far Cry 2 just got moved to Oct. 21, and now Fallout 3 to the 28, then Dead Space, LBP, Bioshock.....to much!

this game better have trophies.
Honestly it is a fucking joke for them to be on the fence about trophies when they already have achievements for the 360 and the PS3 now actually supports trophies. You're telling me it's that hard to take the same achievements and put it on the PS3? Everyone developer should be putting in the minimal time it takes to put in trophies. Just look at how fast Super Stardust shot up to the top of PSN sales after it added trophies.
koehler83 @ Aug 21st 2008 10:57AM
Don't count on it. Bethesda is embarassingly anti-PS3. Of course they're happy to take you $60, but they're not willing to talk to you about it afterward.
Let's recap:
Xbox version: $60 DLC? Yes. Achievements: Yes
PS3 version: $60 DLC? No. Trophies? Unlikely
Can someone clarify for me, where Bethesda gets off charging the same amount for less of a game?
And pray there are no bugs or glitches in the game requiring a post-launch patch. Oblivion has already shown us that patch will never come.
thoraxe112 @ Aug 21st 2008 11:17AM
heck yeah broski
if developers arent going to put trophies in the game then wat the hell was the point of that whole big update if new games dont get trophies but older ones do
JaseH @ Aug 21st 2008 11:37AM
koeh, I actually think Bethesda did a good job on porting Oblivion to the PS3. You can barely tell the difference, and the framerate was swell.
Not to mention taking the time to create DLC & another Chapter.
I would imagine converting achievements into Trophies or the other way around wouldn't be a hassle for them, considering it's a simutainious release.
But hey, who knows. I don't think it's an "Anti-PS3" attitude, it might just be a money wise issue.
And the extra DLC came MS's pocket, not their "Anti'ness"

Alot of good games in that month indeed!!
I wonder if this game will have Trophies?
maxpontiac @ Aug 21st 2008 11:36AM
Gentlemen.
The problem of devs not put trophies in the games wll continue if the PS3 user base purchases the games without them.
Popfrogs @ Aug 21st 2008 1:01PM
Actually, the problem won't continue, because Sony is renegotiating contracts with developers to include trophies in new games and even some older first-party ones.
The only reason games have Achievements on the 360, ALL games, is because Microsoft has it in their contract. Sony is now doing the same.
Waqman @ Aug 21st 2008 12:39PM
Whatever, people who don't buy this game due to lack of trophies are just showing their stupidity. Their loss. I agree with JaseH. Its not necessarily anti-PS3 attitude, its more of a money issue. Microsoft showed them the money. And the Oblivion port on PS3 was great!
Nick @ Aug 21st 2008 3:06PM
This game is on the backburner for me. I care more about other games being released around this time.
m @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:08AM
Apparenty adding trophies isn't as simple as saying "abracadabra". code has to be written to recognize the event, signal tone, then put up name of what got you the trophy. If a game has been in development fora signifigant amount of time, it becomes less possible to add it before release, because adding in the extra code could have negative affects on the game and more testing would have to occur which costs money and could potentially delay the game. (Which would totally infuriate several people and the message boards would be filled with angry customers because of delay). So it becomes simpler to either leave the trophies out, or if there appears to be enough interest to justify the expense then they can be added later through a patch. As new as the trophy system is, we probably won't see massive amounts of upcoming releases supporting them off the bat, simply because of these reasons. Games that are just starting development, or started closer to the time trophies launched will probably all support it though because they can be added in initial phases of programming. JMHO
