PSP-3000 screen is berry colorful
Famitsu posted some comparison shots of the new PSP-3000 and the older PSP-2000 series, and this is easily the most interesting one to note. Here, you see how much better images off the new screen hold up in comparison to the old one. Looks like we're going to have to change our PSP nicknaming system:

- PSP-1000: PSP Phat
- PSP-2000:
PSP LitePSP Dim - PSP-3000: PSP Brite?

this is cool, but i dont think im going to buy it, i have the psp 2000 version, and unless that one breaks, im not getting a new one, ill wait for psp2
Eric E @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:34AM
All Sony is teaching me is "don't buy our hardware, something better will come out right after you do for the same price"
Im guessing right after everyone gets their hands on this they'll announce psp2 or psp4000, now with hat!

Small improvements whenever they become financially possibly draw in new customers. I assure you the iPod would not be as popular as it is today if Apple had made the original 5 GB model and stuck with it for 10 years. As long as mine doesn't go obsolete, I'm fine with little fine-tunings.

PSP Shine
PSP Killuh
PSP Glow
PSP Radiance
PSP Best
myuusmeow @ Aug 21st 2008 9:52PM
I like the last one, but it would have to be changed to something like "PSP Best Until Next Year When We Want to Make A New PSP"... not too catchy anymore though.
c_judicator @ Aug 21st 2008 11:06PM
Radiance could work. The PSP Radiance, PSP Rad for short. Probably cliche, but I'd be ok with that one.
lorddshadow @ Aug 21st 2008 9:41PM
and i thought the lite had good picture! dayum! it's like the mini portable ps3. psp3 FTW!!!
silentshadowxp @ Aug 21st 2008 9:46PM
i don't think it's necessarily brighter, just more glare resistant
Stza @ Aug 21st 2008 9:53PM

psp ripoff
DarkSituation @ Aug 21st 2008 10:03PM
I agree, the difference seems to be more from glare-reduction than brightness.
andwhyisit @ Aug 21st 2008 10:12PM
PSP Phat
PSP Slim
PSP...

PSP-3000 until something catches on.

How bout psp2soon
Kevin Gass @ Aug 21st 2008 10:13PM
Does the Sony logo light up?
Virtuous @ Aug 21st 2008 10:28PM
Sony is picking up the bad habits of Nintendo.
jake @ Aug 22nd 2008 8:30AM
Why do you say that? It is kinda wierd though, i thought the next model of a playstation portable would be psp2, not an updated version of an updated version of the original psp. Didn't they say psp2 would be at least end of 09? i don't get why they couldn't have left features like these for the next psp.
gurbinder @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:09AM
I heard the psp would be a 10 year thing....
WhiteShield @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:20PM
do you mean that they are copying how nintendo came out with pokemon games like every year? or how there are like 5 or 6 different variations of the game boy?
Ben @ Aug 21st 2008 10:37PM
I want to know if the screen actually has a cover over it now. Placing protectors on my Slim gets pretty annoying.
Vidaluko @ Aug 21st 2008 10:39PM
That´s false, look at the PSP, not the screen, it has less light, the angle helps to show it better....
I think that if they put the PSP 3000 in the top, and the 2000 in the bottom, they would look very similar to this picture...
Jerry @ Aug 22nd 2008 9:11AM
I agree. You see this kind of crap all of the time. The PSP 3000 case looks like a darker black, too. Where if you notice in the previous pictures, they look to be the same exact shade of black. Its all in the angle.. They're just making something look better/worse than it actually is.
Hawk_r @ Aug 22nd 2008 8:44AM
I agree, look closely at the case. Lot more glare on the upper one. Odd?
Hugo @ Aug 22nd 2008 7:30PM
I agree, that's true, they're just trying to make some publicity, aren't they?
cowbob9999 @ Aug 21st 2008 10:39PM
oh snaps
it used to say sony on the top right and now its on the top left
Don @ Aug 22nd 2008 1:53PM
Good catch! And not only is the PS logo moved to the HOME button, they removed it from the body... too bad, I think it belongs up there in the corner by the screen....
Shinogu @ Aug 21st 2008 10:41PM
PSP-1000: PSP Brick
PSP-2000: PSP Slim and Lite
PSP-3000: PSP Slim, Lite and Brite
andwhyisit @ Aug 21st 2008 11:32PM
PSP Phat and PSP Slim are the most widely accepted names for the PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 builds from what I remember.
Toa Takanuva @ Aug 21st 2008 10:54PM
POP (Planned Obsolescence Portable). It's the new goddamn iPod. The DS has only seen one revision, and one could legitimately argue that it actually made it worse (nicer screen, but I never upgraded, and I only know one person whose DS lite screen has never broken at least once).
Manuel @ Aug 21st 2008 11:01PM
Nail.Hammer.Head How bout they focus more on the Content, instead of the showboating.
It's like that blonde bimbo. (no offense meant for any women, blondes, or otherwise affluent high-income allowance earners).
Sukino @ Aug 21st 2008 11:15PM
Weird. I've had my DS lite for almost two years and I've not had any problems with breakage of any kind.
aj @ Aug 22nd 2008 2:05AM
In my experience, the DS Lite only breaks if you really try to break it. Or maybe I bought the DS Titanium on accident....
I've not had my PSP long enough to know just how tough she is, so I shall not comment on that.
Manuel @ Aug 21st 2008 10:58PM
I think the glare is reduced significantly. But this picture is misleading because of the angle of both PSP. How about you ACTUALLY take it outside!
I know it seems like Sony is read a book from Nintendo. But I think they're giving us choices, not F'ing us over. It's the capitolist consumerism in you that thinks it needs the latest and greatest, and doesn't appreciate the greatness they already have in their hands.

How about: PSP almost worth the money?
SecretAgentHam @ Aug 21st 2008 11:46PM
psp lite bright? eh? eh?
Ryan @ Aug 30th 2008 3:44PM
there is a large difference if you guys didnt know the new screen has drastically reduced glare. ive wanted to play my psp outside since i got it!
MedHead @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:02AM
Further reason to purchase this.
Squirtbot @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:21AM
Screen looks great, but what happened to the Matte finish from previous pics?! Was super siked for the non-gloss look!
Mr.U2 @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:36AM
looks like sony's statements about the screen being more glare resistant were true.
Mr.U2 @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:37AM
Haha, nice. I like it!
Mr.U2 @ Aug 22nd 2008 12:39AM
Oh... and my submition would have to be... PSP Glare Killer! Or PSP GK for short, lol. Yes, that WAS the best I could do.

Jaimebb @ Aug 22nd 2008 1:18AM
A brighter screen is cool and all, but will the battery life take a hit? If not then it's gonna awesome!
aj @ Aug 22nd 2008 1:44AM
It's weird, because my PSP 2000 has a perfectly acceptable screen that looks absolutely nothing like it does in this picture.
I call Sony paid Famitsu to advertise the 3000.
NecroJoe @ Aug 22nd 2008 2:25AM
Hey guys, take a look at Famitsu's next picture of the PSP-s backside! On this picture the table is light brown, on those it's almost gray. This picture is buffed.
Angel @ Aug 22nd 2008 2:23AM
PSP LAST
Ha ha ha yeah right XD
Seriously, they changed that ring at the back, so looks like its harder for it to get scratches now. Way to go Sony! finally got ride of it after two different versions of it!
