WipEout HD has Platinum Trophy, should be over $30
Although WipEout HD is a PSN download-exclusive game, it looks like it may be priced like a standard retail game. A snapshot of the game's Trophy screen shows a Platinum Trophy for the game -- one that's reserved for full retail games. Shorter, cheaper games on PSN, such as PixelJunk Eden, Super Stardust HD and PAIN, do not feature a Platinum Medal. However, full-priced retail games, such as Uncharted, do grant Platinum Trophies.
With this evidence, we can postulate that WipEout HD will be available for download for at least $30 (the cost of Warhawk, downloaded from the PLAYSTATION Store). SCEA still hasn't announced an official release date or price for the game, but rest assured that the news is forthcoming.

News has been forthcoming for years.
Come on Sony, give us some news!
Daniel @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:34PM
why not just release it as a budget priced blu-ray then? I hate digital downloads. I want physical copies of stuff I pay that kind of money for...
Liquid @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:36PM
Hey this game is like F Zero right?, i think i gonna buy it
Averna @ Aug 23rd 2008 5:19AM
Think of it as F-Zero, but not as lame. Wipeout is king baby!
Cory @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:41PM
30 bucks is what i expected to pay for the game. no biggie for me. I was hoping for 20 but i knew it wouldn't happen.
mezzanine @ Aug 22nd 2008 10:45PM
I WOULD PAY ONE MILLION DORRAH FOR IT
SuperGayParade @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:00PM
yeah... warhawk has the platinum and is priced lower than 60. Wipeout is probably $40
pat1202003 @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:02PM
30 bucks! Hmm... I was hoping it be like 19.99 or 24.99. Oh well, we will see when it comes out.
Averna @ Aug 23rd 2008 5:19AM
Id say its well worth it. I never expected it to be anything less.
Derk @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:13PM
Sony's breaking their own rules?! Maybe this could hint that the game will have a dual release like SOCOM and Warhawk -- available off of the PSN and at retail....
Mark @ Aug 23rd 2008 4:25AM
??? Dimwitt, what rules are those then?
AF @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:31PM
At those prices I'd rather get it on disc.
Saves the HD space and you can always sell it if you want to. Downloads aren't worth it that high.
Arnon @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:58PM
I agree.. maybe if it was $15.. or even $20.. but $30 for a DLGame is kinda high.
leiwei @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:48PM
$24.99 please. =D That way I can afford my Socom, R2, Gears2, Burnout Paradise digital download, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea 3, Dead Space, and have a wallet that can still get me that KZ2/GoW3 when they're out.
Fiddlesworth @ Aug 23rd 2008 12:13AM
Why wouldn't it be priced like the other BIG PSN downloadable games? $30 or $40 is quite reasonable for a game of this size and quality.
Sony never said downloadable games wouldn't have platinum trophies, just not the smaller ones.
Khaled @ Aug 23rd 2008 3:19AM
I don't think the game would go over $40. I'm hoping $20 or $30 though.
Eggy @ Aug 23rd 2008 4:24AM
30 bucks, of course we Europeans have to pay 30 euros.
Mark @ Aug 23rd 2008 4:28AM
The platiunum trophy does not have ANY bearing on the price of the game, it's the SIZE of the game. Clearly WipeoutHD is big enough to be considered a full game, however the pricing is a seperate thing.
Looks like PS3Fanboy got it wrong again...
Pesico @ Aug 23rd 2008 6:09AM
Sony has never said that PSN games won't have trophies. They divide it by largescale and smallscale. Most PSN games is off course, classified as smallscale and won't get a platinum. Since this game will have a platinum, it's big enough for it.
Kspraydad @ Aug 23rd 2008 7:19AM
I was under the impression that Wip3out HD was a stop gap until the TRUE Wip3out PS3 was launched? As such...why give it a platinum status and price?
RMF @ Aug 23rd 2008 10:04AM
"I was under the impression that Wip3out HD was a stop gap until the TRUE Wip3out PS3 was launched? As such...why give it a platinum status and price?"
What's Wip3out HD? Wip3out was wipeout 3. That's why there's a 3 in there. This is WipEoutHD. Not Wipeout 3 HD.
But to answer your question, I guess that they changed their minds and decided to put more effort into HD by fleshing it out more. Fine by me.
myxoid65 @ Aug 23rd 2008 10:23AM
He meant Wipeout PS3, but I'm sure he appreciates you being such a stickler for the series' idiotic naming convention.

I'm here to help.
Kspraydad @ Aug 24th 2008 3:41AM
I used a 3 instead of a E...kill me.
My POINT stands...WipEout HD is NOT the full WipEout that is planned for the PS3...it is a rehash of old tracks in HD and as such should not command a premium price nor a Platinum trophy imo. It isn't 'fleshed out more'...same tracks in HD.
Doesn't mean I won't buy it...just that it isn't Platinum worthy.
