Ask PSP Fanboy: Volume 36
It's the end of the week, which calls for a new volume of Ask PSP Fanboy! Each week we'll collect your questions, and each weekend a new volume of Ask PSP Fanboy will appear on the front page. If you've got a question, send an email to justin.eaton @ weblogsinc .com with the subject "Ask PSP Fanboy."

Q: Have you heard anything about No Gravity lately? I heard August for Europe. Any news for a U.S. release? On his website its clear that he plans a release date for the United states eventually.
A: Yes, according to the developer's site, the release is planned for "Summer 2008," which translates to an August release, pending some sort of delay. There's currently no date set for the United States.
Q: Could you please find out anything further about the news (from Dec 06!) that the Ian Jackson and Steve Livingstone 'Fighting Fantasy' books were going to be developed as a portable game title on the PSP and Nintendo? There has been a deathly silence surrounding this since 2006 and it would be great to know if a Fighting Fantasy game is still being considered for development, or if it has been consigned to the scrap heap...
A: Unfortunately, we're going to assume the scrap heap on this one. There hasn't been a single announcement (or even rumor) since December 2006; Fighting Fantasy has been all but officially cancelled. We'll let you know if someone digs it up, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Q: Any word on the PSP-3000 working with 2000 video-out cables? Specifically, component.
A: Yes, they should work on the PSP-3000. In addition, composite cable users will be able to run games on non-HDTVs.
Q: If my source video is PAL and I make a video to play on a PSP bought in the USA, will it run?
A: Yes. It must meet PSP specifications for resolution: 320x240, 480x270, 720x480 are the common resolutions PSP can support. Please make sure your converter supports these formats.
Q: Any news on the Super Stardust release date?
A: We'll see Super Stardust Portable sometime in 2009, with the release date currently TBA.
Q: It would be great if you could do a series on "What PS3 and PSP can do together". I bought a PS3 thinking it would extend capabilities to my PSP, and have found it rather limited as far as the interaction between the two. There's got to be tricks that I missing.
A: There's some great information over at Playstation.com, regarding the different interfacing options between PSP and PS3. Most of the notable features involve Remote Play, including DLNA support, game sharing, and viewing various forms of media from your hard drive, on our PSP. We'll try and get a "Remote Play 101" up soon!

ward09 @ Aug 24th 2008 11:19PM
I agree - world-wide sales figures please.

ive got a question, Should current psp 2000 users upgrade to the psp 3000?
::..God of War..:: @ Aug 24th 2008 12:09AM
if you have a 2000 then you dont need the 3000.
aj @ Aug 24th 2008 2:13AM
No.
lorddshadow @ Aug 24th 2008 3:01AM
well that's your choice but unless you skype or want to pay another $170-200 for a way better screen + minor upgrades then go ahead.
Dr Haisook @ Aug 24th 2008 2:46AM
Only if you 'need' the features of 3000; microphone, and better screen.
I think for fat owners (like me), upgrading is about time. Just hope they can make it play PS1 games and homebrew like the fat and slim.
camelsafari @ Aug 24th 2008 7:08AM
"I think for fat owners (like me)"
A bit hard on yourself don't you think? :D
cafecito @ Aug 24th 2008 2:34PM
Heh, Indeed.
I own a PSP fat, but I'm not fat myself =P
I've no intention of upgrading at all, tho. Unless they'd receive my PSP-1000 as trade-in value.
Duff_B @ Aug 24th 2008 6:25AM
Thanks for the latest installment guys!
strike @ Aug 24th 2008 7:12AM
Keep up the good work =P
Ben @ Aug 24th 2008 2:04PM
Awesome. Good to hear about No Gravity.
cafecito @ Aug 24th 2008 2:37PM
Yeah, I wanna know more about No Gravity =)
It looks absolutely sweet, but it kinda worries me how little space it uses. I know it's a good thing for users with little MemCard space, but it also could mean little content, short game, no voiceovers, lackluster presentation, among others =S
kevolution @ Aug 24th 2008 3:29PM
Remote play 101 would be fantastic!
I have encountered so much trouble getting these systems to cooperate together.
1.3.1.4 @ Aug 24th 2008 3:32PM
The information on No Gravity is great.
I'd like to hear more about it.
Great work! Keep it up!

PSP to PS3 capabilities are fairly limited, but have some nice features -
You can play any PS1 game whose disk is in the PS3 from the PSP.
You can play several PS3 games including
Pixeljunk Eden
Pixeljunk Monsters
Bionic Commando Rearmed
High Stakes on the Vegas Strip
Lair
You can view/listen to movies, music, and photos from remote play.
If you are in europe and have it, you can access PlayTV
You can access the playstation store for purchases, downloads, etc (they'll get downloaded to the ps3 obviously).
Details are here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Play

I just sold my Star Wars PSP-2000 on Ebay for $180.00 so I won't have to pay very much for the new 3000 coming out! Super cool, I actually did this last year. I sold my PSP phat to get the PSP-2000, now I am doing it again! If anybody has a PSP-2000 that they have kept it pristine condition it's probably not to late to get $160.00 or so for it off Ebay!
Sora57 @ Aug 26th 2008 3:38PM
Will the 3000 have GPS capabilities and work in the US?
Bibbly53 @ Aug 28th 2008 11:14AM
The shot is, "How likely are current PSP owners to purchase the new model of PSP?"
jana @ Sep 5th 2008 11:11PM
