Get schooled by these Final Fantasy Agito XIII screenshots

We don't know much about the upcoming PSP version of Final Fantasy Agito XIII. We know that it'll support Infrastructure in some way, will have a Crisis Core-inspired battle system, and we know that it's based on cards. Other than that, we're just going to have to stare at these screenshots at Famitsu and remark on how Square Enix is able to make such impressive character models on the PSP yet again.

Looks great, hopefully the gameplay will be great, because Crisis Core, whilst good enough, wasn't outstanding enough for me.

I have to imagine it will be like a 3D version of that GBA Kingdom Hearts game. Their card system would fit really well into a Crisis Core style environment.

If that's the case, I expect this game to be really good. Both those titles impressed me.

it's not card based, one of the main characters just uses cards as his weapon

Crisis Core looks better but these graphics are still great, as long as it looks decent I don't mind. I hope Infrastructure here means real online play and not just trading shit or that's dumb but either way I'll eventually pick it up.

I've seen pretty games that were no fun, and ugly ass games that were brilliant. I'm still waiting on the news that Agito XIII will be a single player RPG, or if it will completely depend on playing online. (I'm hoping for single player.)

The graphics are good, but what if the game isn't?

Knowing the game is part of the Final Fantasy series (of games) it should be as good as it looks.

When you say "based on cards", do you really mean that it's based on cards, or that it's a system that uses cards as an interface? There's a difference between Yu-Gi-Oh and KHCOM, y'know.

The blurb on Famitsu's site says that the heroes of the game are students of a Magic School. Players can choose one student to fight with, and currently 12 characters have been revealed. Also, in addition to seeing characters fight with weapons, they also saw a character summon Odin (see the bottom-most screen shot) in a fight with Behemoth-looking creature from the Magic School (not pictured).

Oops, I left out the part at the top.
The video itself showed war spreading throughout the world, and these youth standing in the middle of it. From the narration they heard things such as:
"Borders breached by Rusi"
(or Lusi or Rucy/Lucy... I don't know how they're going to romanize it, but interestingly it's an old name that once was used for Russia)
"Pax codex"
I don't know how to romanize this, but it's the name of the Peace agreement between the countries, so I assume it's something at least close to the above Latin.
"Capital liberation strategy"
Pretty self-explanatory.
