Linger in Shadows lurks onto European PSN this week
Download to PSP
Finally, the veil will be lifted. The strange, mysterious real-time PS3 demoscene Linger in Shadows will be available for download this week ... at least, according to the official PlayStation website. This interactive demo is yet another artistic experiment for the PSN -- you can get a small taste by watching this video released by the artists themselves. We can't wait to see how the PS3 community responds to quite possibly the strangest addition to the PSN yet.
Update: For some reason, Linger in Shadows has been mysteriously delayed.

i dont understand this concept of art.
Does anyone know what was the day of release of "my life with playstation"? ( i know it was delayed..just want to remember the date they told us it was released)
reson8er @ Aug 25th 2008 12:31PM
On the announcement of the delay, they only said "August" as a new date for launch.
Brute @ Aug 25th 2008 12:29PM
It started good, with some nice art and incredibly soothing music, then it got worse, and when the dog started to fly I wasn't interested anymore.
Gman @ Aug 25th 2008 12:33PM
Wow...it looks beautiful.
I'm still not sure I get it though...is it like an animated movie, or is there some interaction? Also, does anyone know if it is coming to the States this week?
Anyway, even if I don't get it, this is what I love about PSN, they take risks and put out innovative stuff you won't find elsewhere (Eden, flOw, Everyday Shooter, etc.)
Ott @ Aug 25th 2008 12:35PM
all i can say is...what the fuck...
Devin @ Aug 25th 2008 12:45PM
Ditto. The game just looks so different. I only hope the demo makes more sense and makes me want more. That scene at the end was epic.
Fane @ Aug 25th 2008 6:03PM
"WTF" doesn't even come close.
Gambit07 @ Aug 25th 2008 12:37PM
Very curious to know more about this "game", hope it comes out in NA this week also.
ryan @ Aug 25th 2008 12:42PM
is this a lost MGS4 boss cutscene?
Hempknight @ Aug 25th 2008 1:01PM
Do we know when it will be released on the US PSN?
Tolkienfanatic @ Aug 25th 2008 1:06PM
What the hell is it? o_O
scott @ Aug 25th 2008 1:09PM
It's strange, but i'm very interested to try it!

supersickie @ Aug 25th 2008 1:31PM
There aren't too many things that leave me speechless these days; I simply don't know what to say after watching this.
I'm definitely looking forward to learning more about this... thing...
visuatrox @ Aug 25th 2008 1:42PM
I feel old, people here do not appear to be familiar with the demo scene.. I guess people here did not spend their childhood haxxoring on the C64 or the Miggy :(.. It is not a "demo of a game" it is an interactive demo.
1664 @ Aug 25th 2008 2:51PM
has had a c64, speccy 48k and 128k and amiga 500 & 1000 and atari st throughout my childhood never haxored them tho lol but did have a book for the speccy with basic programing in it and used to copy them and edit them to make sprites and patterns on the screen, i remeber making the sprites you had a 12x12 grid or something (maybe bigger) and you shadded in squares (on paper) to make your charachter then used to coordinates to make it on screen but never made anything interactive :( was only a nipper tho, dizzy games ftw! spent years playing them and dont think i ever completed one
and ya that flying dog was a bit trippy!
Nash @ Aug 25th 2008 2:29PM
I don't get it. I was also sad when the doggie got smashed.
drdre74 @ Aug 25th 2008 2:06PM
good thing i have more than one account if its not in the NA PSN this week
money_mike_preme @ Aug 25th 2008 2:35PM
i think you gotta be high or on acid for that vid 2 make any sort of sense. i dont know if i just watched a game vid or my brain on drugs. and at visuatrox...c64? your joking right? im 26 and never touched a commadore 64 nor messed with one on emulators. so...nope....no childhood haxxoring my c64...i spent my childhood outside playing g.i. joe's
spinthelights @ Aug 25th 2008 5:42PM
Just another one of those cookie-cutter, cliche "attack flying Basset Hounds with amorphous black blobs and tentacled stone masks" games again. Pass. An FPS or overpriced interactive Eye wallpaper would be a refreshing change of pace now and again.
Seriously though, I'm buying day 1. I find being confused is like a warm blanked, and respect good typographic treatment of credits.
Neil @ Aug 25th 2008 2:57PM
Very trippy, but it looked beautiful. I'm definitely interested to see what this is all about.
BBCorps @ Aug 25th 2008 3:09PM
This proggy was created by some people from the demoscene - it is different than most demos that it allows SOME interaction if you want to interact. I've heard that a 'player' can open up more and more of the demo by exploring the environment. it's only about 10 minutes long max, so don't get too hyped over this unless you know the scene!
Here's some links to familarise yourselves with the demoscene

I am familiar with demoscene thanks to Linger In Shadows, and I am now a big fan of Plastic's earlier work and also Farbrausch, ASD, Conspiracy, Synesthetics, Still and (most recently) Keyboarders have some incredible talent, I'm hoping Sony will continue to promote the demoscene on the PS3,
Albanian_Killa @ Aug 25th 2008 3:23PM
What about North American PSN? Oh well, I created a European PSN for a reason ;)
francisco @ Aug 25th 2008 3:35PM
i dont get this video o.O what's the gameplay like?
NotSafe4Work @ Aug 25th 2008 3:47PM
Poor doggie. But really, WOW. This is a great example of a great physics engine being shown off.

One comment: WTF?
anthonyjh @ Aug 25th 2008 6:15PM
Unless this is another Eye Toy piece o' trash, I'll be buying it day one.
Asher @ Aug 25th 2008 9:23PM
this looks really cool up until the dog starts flying. You can tell there are a lot of good designers involved with making this. But when that do starts flailing around it's just ruined for me. I hope that they get some better animators on this, it looks like there's so much potential here!
kraill @ Aug 31st 2008 9:39PM
It is more art then a game. From what I understand anyways. But it will be interactive, thats what I got from the Playstation mag last month anyways.
Tarheel @ Sep 26th 2008 9:51AM
Linger in Shadows (of the Colossus).
They had me until the dog showed up. Is this a trailer for a game or a Fellini film?
