LittleBigPlanet and Home will possibly shack up together
Home and LittleBigPlanet have a lot of common elements. Both focus on empowering the player with a wide range of customization options, both are PS3 exclusives, and both will be available this fall season. With so many parallels drawn, it's only natural that somebody would ask Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans if the two would share cross functionality with one another. Eurogamer were not shy to inquire; however, Mr. Evans was a tad reluctant to spill the Sackboy beans.
While Evans said that he couldn't "announce anything right now," he did open up the doors to possibility. Pointing back to GDC, Evans reminded of a presentation which was done in Home and had a Sony-built LittleBigPlanet space. Not only was there proof that such content can exist, but he also cited how close the LBP crew was with the Home team -- they're "just down the road from us ... I'm looking forward to getting the LittleBigPlanet space in there, working on it and making it cool." It seems like the possibilities are very real; however, it also looks like you'll be customizing levels in LittleBigPlanet first before ever tinkering with LBP in Home.

Averna @ Aug 25th 2008 10:13PM
Playstation3 owners are the most patient beings on this earth, but I think most of what we wait for is worth it... *sweeps Haze under the lounge*

Ok, I'm just going to say it.
I HATE Playstation Home. I don't think I will ever play it. Playstation Home has been the carrot dangled in front of consumers as a reason to buy a Playstation for WAY too long. This last expansion of the demo just makes me more angry. We are all expecting the service to not be perfect when we get it. If they're confident enough to let more users in to test everything, why not release it to ALL Playstation owners and finally release the open beta that they've been saying is going to come for years now. It's become extremely frustrating to even think about this game. There is no doubt that this irritating feeling of frustration is going to carry into the game.

Bravo. Except for the not going to touch it thing, I agree completely.

I completely agree. The biggest complaint I have heard from testers off my friend list is no one is ever on it. Which is because they don't have enough testers online to make it worth being a "social" service right now. Most of the testers claim to have tested everything they can possibly foresee and never log back on because there is no one to socialize or do things with. So with these small batches of invites it'll stil fractionally let enough barely enough to get a "social" test out of it and generate more positive buzz. Since they are letting in so little what's going to happen is they'll release it public and since they never really tested the limitations of their Home servers for connectivity issues it'll have disconnects and crashes for many users a launch... bad impression.
So I agree they could've just soft launched this publicly similarly to an MMO and did the updates over time the same wayy. Just because some claim early on "it wasn't ready" doesn't mean it is still anymore ready now or five years from now because impressions are relative. They have just handled this whole beta process backwards it seems because they clearly are too image conscious about it getting negative press in the realm of Second Life buzz.

Well the original trailer for Home shown as an example for game launching Little Big Planet so it seems only common sense that Sony's biggest banked title this fall will work with it.
Think Adrian @ Aug 25th 2008 2:06PM
I don't get it... what's the connection Home LBP? What's a "space" in Home?
Packfan @ Aug 25th 2008 2:12PM
A "space" is a game specific room that people interested in a game hang out. Eventually we'll be able to get together with people hanging out in these psaces and launch right into a game directly.
Think Adrian @ Aug 25th 2008 5:28PM
thanks!
Tolkienfanatic @ Aug 25th 2008 2:30PM
It has been alluded to on 1UP Yours that there is a large portion of LBP that the public is still not aware of.
I wonder if this is it?
Nash @ Aug 25th 2008 2:45PM
Sony should never mention Home again until the day it's released. Like they did with the video service. That was a good surprise. They should remember things that work and then do them again.
bkalasin @ Aug 25th 2008 6:12PM
Agreed. I for one am sick to death of hearing about the mysterious 'Home' that never appears. I'm inclined to ignore it entirely at this point. Seems like nothing more than using a SIMSian type character to wander through some immense commercial anyway. Whippee! Sign me up for that! I mean...no thanks, I'll pass.
If 'Home' is ever released, it better exceed all expectations. Otherwise, it will be received like a fart in church...
Fane @ Aug 25th 2008 6:12PM
They do seem to be (mostly) taking that approach. But then people complained when they DIDN'T show Killzone 2 at E3.
chris.westermann @ Aug 25th 2008 3:01PM
Home this fall? Bwahahah ha ha ha....sniffle, tear. That's a good one.
Popfrogs @ Aug 25th 2008 4:15PM
It'd be cool if the LBP space in Home transforms your avatar into a sackboy the second you walk into the room and changes the perspective.
Jerses @ Aug 25th 2008 5:46PM
they cant even make a MMORPG without the RPG in 3 years... Home devs are lazy. LBP will be old when home come out... as Uncharted and Warhawk (Resistance 1) are now
wisconsinista @ Aug 25th 2008 5:54PM
Yea if they delay LBP for the joke that is "Home" I'll be mighty pissed, as I'm not one to believe in falsehoods, but Home doesn't exist -it's alot like Santa Clause.
Kspraydad @ Aug 25th 2008 6:20PM
I want my EyePet inside my HOME appartment. Maybe if I can get into the Michael Vick apartment we could even have them fight.
:P
steve-o @ Aug 25th 2008 6:20PM
whats the big deal? play it if you want, if you dont want, who cares?? i hate the internet, all of this overreacting about a videogame is getting out of hand.
Kspraydad @ Aug 25th 2008 6:55PM
"I hate the internet" is not an over reaction?
K Nang @ Aug 25th 2008 6:53PM
is it only me that doesn't like the words "spill the Sackboy beans"
