Quartermann: Rockstar's PS3-exclusive title

Hey there gossiping gaming grunts, the often correct rumormonger known as EGM's Quartermann is back again and this time with a juicy piece of wishful thinking for PS3 owners. Says Quartermann in the October issue of EGM, Rockstar Games and the team who've brought you Grand Theft Auto IV are working on an unannounced PS3-exclusive title.

While that's all the info on that for now, we'd like to point out that this is the same sort of thing we've heard a year ago. We're experiencing a bit of de ja vu just now. While no one knows for sure what the new game is about, we'd like to chance a guess. Most likely, it will be a title that will include everything on Rockstar's design document checklist: excessive profanity, excellently warped humor, and the casual 'beating up hookers' mini-game. If not, they have to at least include the last part for fan service's sake.

Sony has stated pretty clearly that they will not 'pay' for 3rd-party exclusives, and have more recently said that they believe 3rd-party exclusives will soon cease to exist altogether, due to the huge costs associated with game development these days (with timed exclusives being the model from here forward). Looking at what has happened in the past couple of years, it's hard to find fault with their assessment. MS has quite openly paid for exclusives, or exclusive DLC, but I imagine as Sony's market-share in this current generation increases, they will find that price tag getting prohibitively high, even for their nearly-bottomless pockets.

I think a SIXAXIS based game based entirely of the idea of beating hookers would be awesome.

Weren't they working on 2 games, one of them is a western? plus there is LA Noir, but I think that one isn't an exclusive anymore.

I still hope and think LA Noire will be a PS3 exclusive. The head of the studio developing it used to work for Sony London. Imagine how big and impressive that game world would be on Blu-ray. Heck, maybe we'll get two exclusives.

Team Bondi was hiring PS3 and Xbox360 developers and artists for LA Noire, so I am kind of leaning towards it being multiplatform. No big deal if there is another PS3 title in the works.

Next time you mention Quarterman, leave out the letter's : E G M. Doing so will prevent any immediate write offs as to Quarterman's rumors.

E G M is nothing but toilet paper trash...

SIDE NOTE: Good to hear of an upcoming exclusive by Rockstar!! My guess/hopes: Read Dead Revolver 2 :)

Its not LA Noir but I almost wish it was. I dont know why they have to keep this a big secret. Just come out with it. I just hope the tension isnt building up to a major letdown.

ok. i can't lie i was just poking fun at the fact that whenever something goes on 360 its always "they bought them off". i'm just tired of seeing fanboys act as if Sony is the constant underdog that just can't get a break and they do everything right. when in all reality the tied is turning each and every month. one day (again) Sony will rule the gaming market and then we'll see who will pay money for what.
