Disgaea 3: online gaming mode and new characters in Asia via DLC
Siliconera noticed a little new add-on for Disgaea 3 that provides an optional online gaming mode. You pick either beginner, intermediate or advanced difficulty level and then you are sent to a special version of the item world. Specific criteria must be met in order for a gate and its respective enemy gate keeper to appear. Ten floors must be completed before you are ranked based on moves you've made and how efficient you were with your characters and resources.
This all sounds rather complicated, but the reward is a special character called Angel Solider that specializes in bows and staff. Their native evilty is called Angelic Protection which reduces non-elemental damage to a nearby ally by 50%. The price for this upgrade is $6.19 SGD (about $4.30 USD).
In other Disgaea 3 news, Yukimaru and Tink from Disgaea 2 and Prier of La Pucelle Tactics are the newest downloadable characters for the game in Japan. They cost 200 yen (about $1.50) each. Keep in mind, none of this has been announced for the US yet, but we shall keep our fingers crossed and hopefully hear something soon. We'll keep you updated!

Just bought this game off eBay for $40 day after release, came today...can't wait to try it out...I'd love for that online mode to come to US, that would be something very interesting to try out.

That's pretty awesome. I picked up the game when it was released, and I can't wait for the online mode to hit the US shores.
Hopefully, this is just the beginning of the wave of new characters/classes via DLC.

I just picked up the game today. Alas this needs to wait until tuesday as I have to work this weekend and on the labor day too. It sucks but whatever

why is anyone interested in this game, IGN gave it a 6 out of 10. not my type of game by any means

if i went by everything ign said i would be a pretty sad gamer. although their reviews used to be pretty on, lately they have missed the mark quite a few times. disgaea appeals to a niche audience of hardcore rpg gamers. with the lack of rpg's on the ps3 to date i can say that many of us are very excited and very happy with disgaea 3. i know i have been playing it since release.
bottom line...you can't not try something because of what someone else says about it. have you never seen a movie that got a bad review and liked it?

well, damn! if it's not YOUR type of game, it can't possibly be anyone else's right? it's only one of the most acclaimed strategy franchises ever.

Been playing since the day of release. Infectious music in the hub world -- curse you Nipon Ichi! Now it's running through my head again! =D
As far as I can tell, I have all of their sRPG titles in the US -- La Pucille Tactics, Disgaea 1 - 3 (and the PSP version!), Makai Kingdom and Phantom Brave. =)

I would love some downloadable characters and online gameplay with my American copy of the game
