Hong Kong gamers can spend their way into Home beta
In Hong Kong or Singapore and want to take part in the Home beta? Just spend $60 HKD ($7.69) or $12 SGD ($8.48) on one single purchase off the PLAYSTATION Store before September 12th and you've secured your spot.
Don't feel like spending money? SCEH have 100 spots available for those who fill out an online registration form here. We are guessing they'd rather you spend some money at the PS Store, as 100 spots ain't too many to go around.
Note that, the Home beta will only be in Tradition Chinese in Hong Kong while in Singapore the language will only be English. Finally, local newspapers and magazines will have a third unspecified method of gaining entry. However, information on which publications remain undisclosed at this time.

No news about US home beta? or the enminent "my life with playstation" supposed released in august ( 2 days left )....
Oh, does anybody know how longer will the beta last? i dont think its worth it if you are going to get the open beta next month (november) or even in two months... is it really necessary to make a beta 1 or 2 months after release? will this give them time to fix the problems?

the release later this year IS the open beta, not the final 'perfect' edition, that comes later.

i've been trying to do this all day, the proxy wont allow input, plus they ARE limiting it to asian consoles with specific unit model mumbers :(

I think they check the model number of the ps3, like AJ_3 said above.

I'm from Singapore but i purchase all my PSN stuff exclusively from the US store even though it costs me 5% more (which adds up to quite a bit) because the asian PSN store doesn't have rockband tracks and i'm too lazy to move my other games to another account.

Yeah, they just want people in HK buy more things from PS Store. I think the sales are not quite good in HK store. Why? Because the lack of content. There're really not so many things to buy. Maybe Sony should think more about supporting all the regions equally and not to use the cheap tricks like this?

lets see the ask for your email and your online id not anything else. so theres no way they can go by that to tell what model number your ps3 is. only way anyone can tell that is if you have sent in your warranty card or registered on the psu. i created a singapore account and sent in a from so lets see if i get in. its not that hard. just got to be smarter than they are.

You system is still set to the region it was sold in, there are subtle differences between the systems too like the Eu and US PS3 has the 'X' as the Ok button on the menu, the Japanese PS3 has the 'O' as the Ok button. If you do get the Home client, in theory it should send you to the region of your PS3

Of course its region locked.... DVD is region 1 and bluray is A...so yes... its locked
