Jecht, Tidus pure gameplay Dissidia trailer
Download to PSP
The last Dissidia: Final Fantasy video showcase featured a set of not so beloved Final Fantasy characters -- a punk onion dude and the ultra sexy Cloud of Darkness. Yet, despite that fact, the gameplay footage was still awe-inspiring and kept you drooling for more. This time around, we've got more of the same; however, we're sure you're going enjoy watching these characters a whole lot more.
Final Fantasy X's daddy issues duo, Jecht and Tidus, show us how it's done in this here video clip. Not only are they dishing out mad skills as usual, they're taking the fight all around the fighting arena, giving us a sense of how large and dynamic the stages can get. It seems that every little glimpse of Dissidia that we get, it gets harder and harder to look away. Keep an eye on this one folks. This is looking to be the game to have for this year (in Japan anyway).

Why is Tidus the surfer dude flying?
Daniel @ Aug 29th 2008 1:21PM
C'mon man, haven't you ever seen/played Smash Bros? Everyone in a mash-up fighter can fly, it's in their contracts.
lonesomefolly @ Aug 30th 2008 2:44PM
maybe they are fighting in space, didn't think of that HUH? Now the question would be, how are their breathing?
Haohmaru @ Aug 31st 2008 10:42AM
Haha. I blame Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children for the over-the-top airborne combat in this and, apparently, FFXIII.

this game is looking more awsome, i hope its release date is for the entire world, not just japan. if japan gets this 1st then we get it 6 months later ill just import it.
strike @ Aug 29th 2008 1:28PM
I love the idea of brave points. I also wonder how the story will work..... I think Tidus, Squall and ????? will be the main characters. ????? being the final fantasy 7 hero (cloud? zack?)
Darlaten @ Aug 29th 2008 1:34PM
This game looks better and better with each new screenshot and video. The only thing I get nervous about is the last line of the article,i.e., in Japan anyway. I get nervous reading that; I hope that Dissidia get's a release date for North America soon and that we, on this side of the world, do not have to face yet another game that is not coming over here.
PS - Thank god for importing.
Wrathbringer @ Aug 29th 2008 2:05PM
That makes me nervous too, and I'm sure SE would make a killing with Dissidia if it ever came over here. The FF Series is very popular in North America, and there's TONS of people who want to live out their fanboy dreams of Cloud and Squall fighting each other, or any other combo.
Bryan @ Aug 29th 2008 1:36PM
this is a japan game only? now im very dissapointed.
Andrew Yoon @ Aug 29th 2008 1:39PM
You can always import ... or wait for the inevitable US announcement by Square in a few months time.
ultima_omega @ Aug 30th 2008 8:05AM
It is not Japan only. It just wont be released outside of Japan this year. Expect to see it in America and Europe 2009.
pete @ Aug 29th 2008 2:15PM
this looks bloody awesome!!!!
strike @ Aug 29th 2008 3:37PM
IT IS BLOODY AWESOME!!!!! WHY AM I SCREAMING?????
Angel Mass @ Aug 29th 2008 3:57PM
It looks I dont know, Ill have to play it I guess
Zable @ Aug 29th 2008 4:09PM
This game was the reason I even got a PSP. Seeing it turning out like this lets me know that even if I hadn't already been enjoying the system, I was right in thinking this game in and of itself is worth getting the system.
manmanpotty @ Aug 29th 2008 4:12PM
Hopefully this will come to the U.S. soon due to less localization required for a fighting game (instead of an rpg)
TJF588 @ Aug 30th 2008 12:56AM
The video's still fully loading, but of what I've seen... This game is full of such awesomely rendered spoilers. "Otherworld", the area within Sin, and Tidus using what looks like Slice & Dice. Damn, if this game ever got DLC character use... Hopefully I get this job; then I can start saving up for a PSP and then this.
TJF588 @ Aug 30th 2008 1:03AM
Sounded like he (Tidus) said "Get back!" and "Go!". Heh, FINISH'd HIM! Glad that they didn't take a fatalities road with pulling off the cool moves. Hrm, "Over Drived"? Hopefully something a bit less Engrish-sounding will come out of localization. Speaking of which, think FFX (or any other game that hasn't been updated) will retain titles like "Scan" and "Life", or will they take "Libra" (as in "library", not the constellation) and "Raise"? I'd think the latter, just as I'm confident that this will be released here. I mean, Smash Bros. ("SMASH BROS.") has been consistently released here, and these two carry a similarity that something like "Shounen Jump Stars" or whatever doesn't: All rights are held by the same company/ies here. DISSIDIA's a done deal; just need concrete confirmation.
aliss77777 @ Aug 30th 2008 12:44PM
wow this is freakin' sick it looks like DMC-quality fighting on a psp, with FF characters no less....
wooaah! @ Aug 30th 2008 2:03PM
hey strike don't forget that firion will probably be a main character
strike @ Aug 30th 2008 4:58PM
Whoops! I forgot about him..... That would make four main characters, like usual. =)
Steve @ Sep 1st 2008 2:11AM
firion? i have all the emulators for the old ff's so that i can get to know the old characters before the game comes out but i just cant get into number 2, the start is soo boring and i cant find WORD PHRASEES or something like that... and i'd say it would be cloud out of FF7 cause zack didnt really stand up to sephiroth, he lost, whilst cloud seems more even strength, sephiroth needs to learn to shut up and kill his opponent without playing with them...
Steve @ Sep 1st 2008 2:13AM
ps for last comment by me, i have the umd 20th anniversary remake of FF2 not the super old edition
abner @ Sep 1st 2008 5:03AM
blitz ace! awesome!
TechG33k @ Oct 5th 2008 7:20PM
Something tells me that when this is released in North America (not "if", "when", cuz SE would be MENTAL if they didn't send it here) I'll be spending a lot of dark, quiet nights w/ my PSP. And a lot of money on "IcyHot" for my sore thumbs and pointer fingers.
