Life with PlayStation delayed ... again

Oh, you are killing us, Sony! Unfortunately, Life with PlayStation has been delayed yet again and some "paperwork" is apparently the culprit. Noam Rimon of SCEA R&D, in an attempt to soothe us, reminds us of some of the cool features of Life with PlayStation, such as reading the news, checking the weather, listening to music and best of all, Folding@home will be running the background when you use this little add-on.
To be fair though, the application is free and it'll let us help cure cancer while listening to our favorite tunes. It is also stated we will only have to "hold tight just a bit longer." Looking forward to it, Mr. Rimon!
[Thanks, Tony!]

Fair enough. I don't mind waiting as long as they keep us in the info-loop.
Averna @ Aug 31st 2008 8:00PM
I actually think leaving us out of the loop would have been better for their image.
Sony, stop announcing things! You're really really bad at it! You did it right once with the video store... but im sure you'll mess that up with the EU/Asian release.
TheEvilBucket @ Aug 29th 2008 9:36PM
God hope that life does not become the new home, and be delayed after delay. Come on Sony pull the finger out :(
Phantom @ Aug 29th 2008 9:41PM
looks like somebody didn't do they're paperwork .
TheWakeUpCall @ Aug 29th 2008 9:43PM
Do Sony actually release products any more?
Autopsy15 @ Aug 30th 2008 12:13AM

frankym @ Aug 29th 2008 9:46PM
DELAYSTATION 3 at it AGAIN!
Kspraydad @ Aug 29th 2008 9:47PM
Another time on the blog there was a posting that something was coming soon with no indication of real time and it showed up 2 hours later!....Imma gonna keep checking my FW and F@H apps.
Popfrogs @ Aug 30th 2008 12:47AM
The rule with Sony is if they give a release date, it'll get delayed. If they don't mention it, it'll show up soon as a surprise.
Tony @ Aug 29th 2008 9:48PM
ur welcome ps3fanboy
XeroKool @ Aug 29th 2008 9:48PM
People over at the PS forums were going nuts over this and the home beta delay. It's a sad state of affairs over there. Some people need to get outside more.
John-Paul-Jones @ Aug 30th 2008 12:05AM
You should check out the PlayStation.Blog. Poor Sony bloggers. I mean my God, I have never seen so many immature people crying over the delays and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I too am disappointed but it's very sad that a lot of the PS3 users there act so childish. I've just checked the Life with PlayStation blog right now and and a lot of people stopped complaining, surprisingly. The users there seemed content with the update of Life with PlayStation most likely because it's better than being left alone in the dark.
Oh well, this is the life of owning a PS3. You get used to the delays. It pretty much doesn't surprise me and a lot of people. Life with PlayStation, indeed.
Devin @ Aug 30th 2008 11:12AM
Really,
it's not like their 'having fun' is depending on this. I honestly don't see the point of this app, but since it's free, has some 'neat' features and should be here soon, I'm not complaining....I would expect this to be here in the next couple weeks at most according to what I read....
JK @ Aug 29th 2008 9:52PM
As much as these delays are slightly annoying, I don't see any of the other 2 consoles coming out with so many varied features like Home, Qore, Life with Playstation, Folding@Home, etc. Even if this isn't truly for gamers, they're keeping to their word that the PS3 is more than that, which is interesting in it's own right.
Greg @ Aug 29th 2008 9:53PM
Deadline-station ?
lilj_j15 @ Aug 29th 2008 10:00PM
SONY!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!! everything keeps getting delayed! i cannot wait anymore!!! i mean:
waiting: program will be finished and better than if i didn't wait
and not waiting: its not as great as it would've been if i did wait but at least i got something of it!!!!!!!!!!!
The Aggie CEO @ Aug 29th 2008 10:00PM
we all knew this when the middle of the month came by and nothing came(thats USUALLY when we get firmware updates).........but I was THINKING that after the network was down for a few hours the other day that they were doing some maintenance to get ready for the release of it........oh well......just give people another reason to call it "Delaystation".........smh
iamkid @ Aug 29th 2008 10:00PM
" the application is free and it'll let us help cure cancer while listening to our favorite tunes "
that line made me laugh a little inside. i might look into this
saito ps3 @ Aug 29th 2008 10:02PM
all these 360 fanboys coming here are pretty funny lol
Wrathbringer @ Aug 29th 2008 10:02PM
Paperwork? Really? That has got to be THE lamest excuse I've EVER heard. How many applications have been delayed on account of slow paperwork? At least Sony came up with a unique excuse...
Doesn't Sony know how to come up with a REASONABLE time frame for ANYTHING?
adolson @ Aug 29th 2008 11:08PM
Well, they could have said the dog ate their paperwork.
Robert @ Aug 30th 2008 9:01AM
do you really know what is Life with Playstation? it show news, weather, Sony does not produce that, they need partners, partners need contracts, they need to have on paper things like what those partners will do with the data they capture (what we read, etc, etc) for privacy reasons, what information they keep providing (and not remove when they like because of the contract)
The application probably was ready a long time ago, but without a data provider on contract, there is no reason to publish it for download
Darkage @ Aug 29th 2008 10:07PM
Big surprise.
Jamesology @ Aug 29th 2008 10:09PM
and that's why i sold mine
adolson @ Aug 29th 2008 11:16PM
You sold your PS3 because a rip-off of the Wii's Forecast and News channels has been delayed? ...OK then.
kratos @ Aug 29th 2008 10:25PM
I bought the ps3 instead of the crapbox because of these cool features, I dont care if they get delayed a little.
Kspraydad @ Aug 29th 2008 10:29PM
I'm old enough to remember loading games on my C64...Sony's delays are NOTHING compared to that.
ryan @ Aug 29th 2008 10:34PM
months as opposed to minutes?
The Rickster! @ Aug 29th 2008 10:34PM
wazowski! you didn't finish your paperwork!
DrunkRaba @ Aug 29th 2008 11:07PM
I'd really rather F@H didn't run in the background as it will probably slow down how fast the PS3 accesses and displays the news or weather I want to see. Add to that that it will be opened for 30 minutes at a time max, Its not like I will ever get any WU's done before their deadlines.
I used to fold a lot, but now that I pay for my power, I really am trying to cut the bills and folding just doesn't fit in anymore.
chaoshunter555 @ Aug 29th 2008 11:29PM
OH NOES, NOW I HAVE TO GO TO THE WEATHER CHANNEL OR CNN.COM !!!
Tolkienfanatic @ Aug 29th 2008 11:30PM
It's the weather... is it any big loss?
biggrapp @ Aug 29th 2008 11:35PM
are we gonna HAVE to fold in order to run this? I hope not. I'm actually kinda lookin' forward to it but not if I'm gonna be forced to fold.
shortyvs @ Aug 30th 2008 12:21AM
Life with Playstation is frustrating.
Name: @ Aug 30th 2008 1:32PM
nobody bought their fuckin PS3 becuase of Life with Playstation so shut the the fuck up, and please save the its the principle bullshit reply. just a bunch of bitches.LOL, seriously when are you happy. I'd rather have a product 100% rather than another RSV2
Averna @ Aug 31st 2008 8:07PM
For sure, but Sony could have saved face by not announcing it or even announcing it without a date.
You are right, that its not a ground breaking service and most people arent even going to use it, but that makes it worse that Sony takes another dent in their reputation over such a lame application.
I couldnt care less about Life (notes the irony) but I hate watching my Sony getting slammed, knowing that I cant defend them because they did it to themselves.
TwikZ @ Aug 30th 2008 7:56AM
what is life with playstation? dunt have any idea =S
ryan @ Aug 30th 2008 3:10PM
it tells you the weather and news. y'know stuff that you can already access. it's part of their new, "Playstation Life Support" plan where you don't need the rest of the world.
WeHasFanboys @ Aug 30th 2008 10:42AM
I'm actually really looking forward to this and, of course, Home.
They should integrate this INTO Home, now that I think about it .
Jerses @ Aug 30th 2008 11:35AM
great... 2008 the year of ps3 *sarcasm*
Metal_Gear @ Aug 30th 2008 11:50AM
MGS4, LBP and Home (and many other things) in the same year, I'd say it was a pretty big year. If you think a weather and news service was the biggest thing, your pretty lame.
Or are you another 360 troller, yes, another thing was delayed, big whoop. Not like we havent got anything else to do on the system.
theussed002004 @ Aug 30th 2008 11:44AM
This is part of the great Playstation Experience. This is something you'll only get from the Playstation brand. Stick with us, we'll try not to dissapoint you by promising great things and then taking them away from you last minute.
Ben @ Aug 30th 2008 1:12PM
delaystation 3
Organic_Shadow @ Aug 30th 2008 2:21PM
Is this REALLY a big deal? Is anyone upset about the delay of something like this when there are more important things in the pipeline?
Mr. Joe @ Aug 30th 2008 4:31PM
isn't anyone kinda weirded out by a group of stanford folks running an app in the background? i mean, what kind of memory is it going to use up? what type of information are they looking for? how is this going to cure cancer? what does it matter where i plot my zip code to get updated weather? what does it matter that i search for news from around the world? does anyone have answers to this? is there a page that describes their plot?
