New Disgaea platformer coming to PSP
A new 2D platformer starring everyone's favorite penguin pals from Disgaea has just been revealed. Very little is known about the game, but the initial screenshots look quite promising; look at the quality of these sprites! More info about Prinny: Is it Okay if I'm the Main Character? will undoubtedly come when its official website launches in September.

All I can say is, WTF, Dood?

this looks interesting. but is it coming to america? no right? that's what i thought...*sigh*

Given that Disgaea is NISA's best-selling, most famous franchise outside of Japan and how every Disgaea game to date has been brought over, I seriously doubt this will stay Japan-only.
Plus it's a platformer, so it's even easier to localize (less text) You could probably even import it and get through it without knowing Japanese :>

true but quirky little titles generally don't make it over the ocean so i'm not really gonna hold my breath. (i'm looking at you monster hunter portable 2nd g) [yes i know i can import it and use the english patch but i don't have any money and i'm not going to pirate]

Well I think this is neat and was really telling the truth when they said they wanted to make more games for the PSP. NIS said they were shocked to see how well Disgaea sold on the PSP and so they would bring Makai Wars back from the dead. But that was some time ago so I wonder if it still is dead.
Also I wonder if this means there is a greater chance Disgaea 2 will come out on the PSP too.

You must be joking, Dood! Samurai Prinny! O_o
I wonder if the prinnies still explode when you toss them XD
Anyway, the idea's sick. I'm totally into it. With guest appearance by Disgaea characters, I presume?
Let's hope they localize this. But at least NIS america still cares about us PSP users T_T ... so I have some hope (Although Mana Khemia mysteriously dissapeared from release date lists)

The concept reminds me of Gargoyle's Quest
cafecito @ Aug 29th 2008 8:43PM
This looks nothing like gargoyle's quest. A revival of that series would be awesome, BTW.

god this game, if it came to north america I would buy my planned psp a hell of a lot sooner (im getting the 3000 when it comes)
hamildan @ Aug 30th 2008 5:26AM
Im getting this just to show them that disgaea 2 on the PSP is a must. after theyve ported the original to every other platform obviously.

I'm not really a fan of the Disgaea "grinding hell that doesn't actually require any strategy" SRPGs, but this looks like it might be fun. Especially if the Prinnies' tendency to explode upon impact was utilized.
...I'm not sure what twist on the formula you could manage with that, but I can say it would probably be unique.

The game looks pretty promising. I'm particularly fond of penguins in video games.

Extra Extra Exploding peg legged penguins star in Action Game!(continued on A3).
Are we at the end of world?!!(continu-- oh screw it, look at the above headline, yes you're witnessing the end of the Earth).
Five easy tasks to make your evil tyrannical bosses' funeral that much more gleeful.(continued on C3).

Holy mother. I'm so there.
See Konami?
Turning a strategy RPG into a platformer = good idea.
Turning a platformer into a fighting game = bad idea.

I suck at RPG RTS. I FREAKING LOVE to watch my friends play Disgea games.
I must own this game.
