The world lacks PAX in these five Fallout 3 gameplay videos

The second video has your character approach a local town named Megaton, where inhabitants offer you advice and jobs. Mechanics demonstrated here include taking meds to make you smarter and listening to the PIPBoy transmissions. We won't spoil the rest for you guys, but definitely watch the end of the fifth video for a ... funghi surprise. All the videos are after the jump.

This game will be competing neck and neck with MGS4 for GOTY.
Jam @ Aug 29th 2008 6:33PM
looks pretty damn similar to Oblivion - even has lock picking. I think I'll wait on this one.
efreet @ Aug 30th 2008 8:03PM
Actually all of the fallouts have had lockpicking and from the look of the skills in the vid, they look pretty much the same as the others in the series.
Which is a good thing
kentuckyfried @ Aug 29th 2008 6:33PM
October can't come soon enough.
freebluespike @ Aug 29th 2008 6:34PM
those five new videos are what made me interested in buying it. tell you the truth, all gameplay and trailers before looked very very cheesy.
morebadasser @ Aug 29th 2008 7:10PM
Would it kill developers to every now and then make a PS3 version gameplay video of their games? "Yeah but they want to show the best build possible..."
K, then label the video "PS3 Version" or something so viewers will see reason for the differences in quality, if any.
Darkage @ Aug 29th 2008 7:23PM
Amazing. It would also be brilliant If there are trophies for this.
Pavel @ Aug 30th 2008 7:24AM
This is XBOX presentation, it has achievement. So far I can't see that prevent them from using trophy as PS3
paul @ Aug 30th 2008 11:22AM
I asked them on their blog a few weeks ago they said they had nothing to announce regarding trophies or custom soundtracks so we probably wont get either.Im still getting this though
doc j @ Aug 29th 2008 7:35PM
Definitely not regretting being talked into that pre-order.
ryan @ Aug 29th 2008 7:48PM
looks to be another life sucker. between this, Fable 2, LBP, Gears 2 and Resistance 2 it'll be tough showing each game enough love. maybe i'll just stick to this, heh.
and i love that 'cha-ching' when you get an achievement. will there be trophies for the PS3 version?
ryan @ Aug 29th 2008 9:27PM
hmm, seemed to be only the first time an achievement popped up.
jonesy @ Aug 29th 2008 8:00PM

lorddshadow @ Aug 30th 2008 3:45PM

DamnBoxes @ Aug 29th 2008 8:57PM
the marketing for this game reminds me too much of Bioshock
Tony @ Aug 29th 2008 9:49PM
interesting
lorddshadow @ Aug 29th 2008 9:53PM
that was both awesome and creepy. i love it!
RockerAnimeFreak @ Aug 29th 2008 10:52PM
*drools* this game can't come soon enough!
Waqman @ Aug 30th 2008 1:44AM
Definitely can't wait for this game. But with LittleBigPlanet coming only a week before this, well its going to be a busy month.
John @ Aug 30th 2008 4:48AM
lol...that dude got a 20 point achievement in the first video.
Craig @ Aug 30th 2008 5:56AM
Um...isn't that a little bit too evil? Setting off a bomb to destroy a town?
But anyways
This game looks the don!
I need it
justice @ Aug 30th 2008 9:54AM
if u think that the world is alreay destroy it
then it woud be that evil, i think..

Shaggie @ Aug 30th 2008 10:39AM
The VO actors are some of the same from Oblivion. But I guess when you got a voice that works why change right? (but it was bound to have a little bleed over from Oblivion anyways)
But I've played the old Fallout games and it's really awesome to see this type of game be brought into a 3 dimension setting. Very nice. and the VATS with real time. Friggin awesome. Adds a nice little cinematic for you.
And since this game likes to let you play with the things that are taboo. ie. Megaton Elimination. I wonder if you could use vats to blow off an arm and the NPC would still be alive and still coming for you.
kentuckyfried @ Aug 30th 2008 4:54PM
"I wonder if you could use vats to blow off an arm and the NPC would still be alive and still coming for you."
Now that...would be fantastically creepy. Kind of reminds me of the movie, Westworld.
Is it worth it to go backwards to play the older Fallout games? I've never heard of this series until now (maybe I did see a box cover some years ago but I didn't pay any mind).
The only thing I have to criticize about it so far is that it definitely does feel like Oblivion transported to a post-apocalyptic setting. but I like Oblivion, I'm not even close to finishing it, lol (COD4 became the new huge distraction). I'm starting to get tired of shooters though, this would be a good change of pace.
Ross @ Aug 30th 2008 11:13AM
That Tenpenny guy on the tower intercom almost sounds like Samuel L, aka Officer Tenpenny from GTA San Andreas... coincidence?
RagingStormX @ Aug 30th 2008 3:09PM
Wow....up until those 5 gameplay videos I had this game filed under the "I won't wast my money" list.....I may just have to buget this in.
Side note: I wonder if thats all you can take from the ladies ;) ;)....I keed :p
kentuckyfried @ Aug 30th 2008 4:55PM
That was one thing Oblivion didn't capitalize on, just for fun...;)
