Resistance 2 Collector's Edition details appear on Amazon
So you've probably already voted for your favorite Resistance 2 Collector's Edition boxart (if not, you've probably missed the boat), but until now we've had no idea what the CE will actually contain. Enter, Amazon.com, stage left. If these details are to be believed (and they're a little too specific to be doubted, at this point) then the Resistance 2 special edition will be well worth the price for any fan of the franchise.
The price, which is probably the most likely detail of the bunch to be changed down the line, is set at $79.99. For this, you'll get a bonus DVD with a behind the scenes documentary, video commentary by Insomniac and a "Twisted History" chronology video. You'll also nab yourself an exclusive multiplayer character skin, a double-sided Resistance art book and a sneak peek at the upcoming Resistance novel, "The Gathering Storm." Wait, there's an upcoming Resistance novel?
Finally, the package is rounded out with a five and a half inch tall Chimera Hybrid action figure. With a Bullseye, naturally. That's quite a lot of swag, but is it worth the extra 30 dollars? Sorry, we couldn't hear your response to that question, we're too busy preording the Resistance 2 Collector's Edition.

"is it worth the extra 30 dollars"
I guess you meant 'the extra 20 dollars", that's the price difference between the regular and the special edition.
Phizzy @ Aug 30th 2008 7:09PM
Extra $30? won't the standard edition be $60?
Dmacleod14 @ Aug 30th 2008 7:10PM
wouldnt that be an extra $20? or did you get the price wrong? is it actually $90?
either way i'll prolly snag this.
Anthony @ Aug 30th 2008 7:12PM
What do you mean "is it worth the extra 30 dollars?". The regular edition would be priced at $59.99. So if the CE is $79.99, then that's $20 more. Anyways, I don't think I'll buy it for $79.99, but if it drops to $69.99, or even $75, it'll be incredibly hard to resist.
TinyTim121 @ Aug 30th 2008 7:13PM
wow thats a sweet deal! Better than GTA IV special Edition IMO.
A Resistance Novel, hey? Why can i foresee Resistance being Playstation's Halo?
Or has Metal Gear filled that spot?
Still, defo pre-order for me
Josh @ Aug 30th 2008 8:09PM
Or Killzone 2?
KarlW @ Aug 30th 2008 9:31PM
Why does every franchise need a novel? Kids would do better watching TV than reading that garbage.
Does anybody actually buy those things? More to the point: does anybody read them?
blackknight @ Aug 30th 2008 7:48PM
As great as that is and all, why do PS3 exclusive games still come with bonus DVDs and not Blu-Ray? I'd much prefer to see all that extra content in HD, but I digress, and hope a European announcement will follow soon. Once there's a U.S. announcement, of course!
linebeginstoblur @ Aug 30th 2008 9:38PM
The Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots collector's edition comes with a bonus Blu-ray Disc, not a DVD. But Devil May Cry 4's did just have a DVD. I guess we need to just give them time. It's obviously not an issue of wondering if the consumer can play BDs, it's more about how DVDs are much cheaper to produce than BDs, I bet.
Soapy911 @ Aug 30th 2008 7:20PM
hm i just wanna play the game.. :/
Josh @ Aug 30th 2008 7:40PM
OH YES! I will be buying the CE. I bought Resistance on launch day with my original PS3 and it's still one of my favorite games to play.
Superleggera @ Aug 31st 2008 11:27PM
Yes, I too also enjoy the game Resistance as a game to play for fun very much.
Meresin @ Aug 30th 2008 8:15PM
I hope they include the Project Abraham stuff on one of the disks. A little back story goes a long way. ;)
I'll probably be picking up the collector's edition anyway, though. I'm really excited about this game.
LAZoftheTamarinds @ Aug 30th 2008 7:58PM
That one sweet CE.
BlackFreefall @ Aug 30th 2008 7:59PM
Damn between this and Gears of War LE, I am going to be very broke when November comes.
Dustin @ Aug 30th 2008 8:05PM
I just cummed when I read about the Chimera figure. This is the first collectors editon of a game thats I am going to buy and its worth it. Resistance novel? Now theres a book I'll actually be readin! Ill preorder at Gamestop next week!
Jon C. @ Aug 30th 2008 8:07PM

Take your fanboyism somewhere else please.
Fargus @ Aug 31st 2008 9:34AM
how is he being a fanboy? What other system could produce a bluray?
lee @ Aug 30th 2008 8:11PM
CHIMERA ACTION FIGURE FTW!
James @ Aug 30th 2008 8:09PM
Bring on a Helghast helmet for Killzone 2 CE
ryan @ Aug 31st 2008 11:32AM
or a Jin-Roh helmet. mirite?
lorddshadow @ Aug 31st 2008 3:20PM
as long as it isn't like the kitty helmet from halo 3's CE. (i love the sniper's helmet!)
jgpliskin @ Aug 30th 2008 8:16PM
You're a sucker for these collector's editions Jem. Your wallet hates you!
Edd Mills @ Aug 30th 2008 9:01PM
A Resistance novel is the lamest thing I've ever heard, I'd expect crap like that from Halo's marketing campaigns.
linebeginstoblur @ Aug 30th 2008 10:45PM
Yeah, because books and words are lame. I'd rather just play online multiplayer and mindlessly shoot people, because stories are bullshit, right?
dicknjane @ Aug 31st 2008 10:23AM
um, jealous of Halo perhaps? dont bash a game when you dont know what you're talking about.
linebeginstoblur @ Aug 30th 2008 8:59PM
Aw man, when I saw the image of this news post, I was hoping I'd see it on the Amazon page too. I was hoping it was the new confirmed cover. Please, Insomniac! That really is the best of the three.
Steve @ Aug 30th 2008 9:48PM
So you lucky guys in America get a special edition 'Resistance 2' with all those extras for the same price us poor folk in the UK have to pay for the plain old normal version?
And your still wondering wether it's worth it?
:/
GamerGuyX @ Aug 30th 2008 11:21PM
The behind the scenes stuff needs to be on a Blu-ray Disc like the MGS4 LE was.
2JSC @ Aug 31st 2008 1:05AM
OMFG - Pre-ordered now.
I can totaly see a Resistance novel... and even more so a movie, but it had better be done right! I mean it SONY! If you're thinking the same thing as me... DO IT RIGHT!
j.howlett @ Aug 31st 2008 12:10PM
this could be a special edition i go for if i can get the cash. as far as the novel, the sneak peek should let you know if it's something you'd want to read more of. i heard some good things about the halo series and have read some good game novelizations back in the 8 and 16 bit days.
DrWho @ Aug 31st 2008 3:18PM
$69.99 - with bill me later.
=]
Hunter @ Aug 31st 2008 8:54PM
Awesome! Really hope either the picture shown wins or the close-up of Hale's face. Getting this for sure.
Masahiro @ Sep 1st 2008 4:36AM
80 bucks for all of this... guess I need to get the US version... as usual, the standard edition is more expensive in Europe than the CE in the states...
FEAR ME DEAR @ Nov 3rd 2008 2:03PM
I will buy the CE! First off, the extra "goodies" included have to be worth more than 20 dollars! Plus the novel contains background info. and a fill-in between Res1 and Res2. To KarlW: Regardless whether you think the novel is "garbage" or not, kids would be far better off reading than watching mindless TV. Plus I bet it is a great read, the storyline is strong and intresting and I don't know about you but Res1 was pretty scary (the whole idea, and some gameplay). Another thing to consider is that kids are not the only ones who play video games... e.g im 15 and I would enjoy the novel!
