The $15,000 Gran Turismo 5 Prologue GT Racing Pod
We see you. We see you salivating all over your keyboard. If you are a serious Gran Turismo fan, this is the stuff dreams are made of. The winner of the Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Middle East Challenge Ahmad El Azmi received a free trip to Japan to drive a Nissan GT-R and he took home the above GT Racing Pod. Valued at $15,000, the Racing Pod is equipped with a 40" Sony Bravia TV, a PS3 and a Logitech Driving Force GT Racing Wheel.
However, El Azmi wasn't satisfied with the setup, and decided to disassemble and reassembled the entire Pod. He added a shifter mounter, inverted stand for the pedals, a surround sound system and replaced the DFGT with a Logitech G25 Racing Wheel. Kudos to you, sir, you have successfully made the world jealous. He was even kind enough to share with us -- check out the rest of the pictures after the jump.

I wonder if you can buy the plastic intake manifolds somewhere... I totally would
leatherface @ Sep 1st 2008 3:54PM
that's a cool set up, but it reminds me of general grievous' wheel bike from episode 3. watch out for mr. lucas, he might sue. lol
nano security id @ Oct 17th 2008 2:20AM
After looking at the screen shots of this setup, I was totally blown away!. I love it and I hope this kid is happy because, with a $15,000 dollar setup like that, I would be darn sure to have the oil change every three months. Hey you manage to bring the arcade scene back to live.
TinyTim121 @ Sep 1st 2008 9:13AM
Nice one Ahmad!!
Bit cheeky of you to replace the steering wheel =P
cyberkinetic @ Sep 1st 2008 9:23AM
THAT is the sh***! and i thought i had toys..
Invisible Robot Meat @ Sep 1st 2008 9:33AM
What good is the clutch pedal when Gran Turismo doesn't support it. I wish it did like ToCA Race Driver 3. That game has the best control calibration in a racing game ever.
Ken @ Sep 1st 2008 9:57AM
It sure does support the clutch pedal. I use it all the time with my G25 setup. Its not available for all cars but it sure is on the ones that count!
Eric @ Sep 1st 2008 9:49AM
Actually it does support the clutch in GT5 Prologue... I have a very similar setup myself with a G25 and Playseat Racing chair and the clutch works just fine...
Kevin @ Sep 1st 2008 10:43AM
is it possible to stall out?
Invisible Robot Meat @ Sep 1st 2008 11:27PM
I didn't know the game supported the clutch because there is no option to assign a button on the regular controller. I guess you just have to spend $275 extra to have that option, that sucks. Are there any cheaper wheel options than the G25 that have a clutch?
Ken @ Sep 1st 2008 2:48PM
What do you meant doesn't support the slutch pedal? I use mine on my G25 set all the time. It doesn't work with all cars but I assure it works with the ones that count.

I KNEW I'd seen that pod somewhere before... :D
Steve Childs @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:09AM
The pods are the standard GT setup for exhibitions. Nissan had 4 of them at the British Motorshow in July. Not linked up of course (shame), but still damn good fun.
I'd love to have a setup like this, if only I had the room and the money!
Eric @ Sep 1st 2008 10:02AM
lol thats pure awesomeness
iamkid @ Sep 1st 2008 10:19AM
that is insane. i want one.
shade4595 @ Sep 1st 2008 10:20AM
Still nothing compared to a real car.
Seanross @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:10AM
Yes.... be the pessimist of the group.
OffTopic Man @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:39AM
Gran Turismo supports a clutch.
Jerses @ Sep 1st 2008 10:51AM
thye build a $15,000 racing pod...for a demo :P i hope you can remove those "prologue" stickers when the real gt5 comes out
turkeybaster @ Sep 1st 2008 1:48PM
Since it's hooked up to a PS3 it'll work just fine when GT5 comes out.
Dahk @ Sep 1st 2008 1:52PM
"kind enough to share"?! I think that's just PREPOSTEROUS and UNKIND! I'm SO JEALOUS! AHH.
I love those pedal designs though. And tacking on the G25 is just beautiful - although you lose out on the brake bias controls and whatnot =P. Those seem kinda fun to play with =P. I only have the Driving Force Pro *sigh*.
seasidebaz @ Sep 1st 2008 5:10PM
UNLUCKy!!!
Gear stick's on the wrong side ;)
Zamn @ Sep 1st 2008 11:27PM
Has it occurred to you the position of the gearstick depends on which side of the road you drive on? Assuming he isn't from one of the three countries in the world that drive on the left, he's got it right
Biker_J @ Sep 1st 2008 6:22PM
Oh. He is going to be angry if someone steals it! lol. 15,000 down the drain.
Flicky @ Sep 1st 2008 6:43PM
So why is the G25 better than the DFGT ?
Ihatebioshock @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:30AM
When I first saw the picture and clocked the price tag, I assume it would have some kind of motion/feedback to it - left right and some gradient (forward/backward) tilt would have been awesome. Nice prize but not worth the money and a daft design if it's not functional, it would be better looking like a car cockpit for immersion.
all imo of course :)
Ihatebioshock @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:25AM
for $15k and looking at the pic, I'd want motion / feedback otherwise it's pointless overkill for what it does. Don't make it look like it can roll forwards/backwards if it can't ;)
