Prince of Persia pre-orderers get free LE upgrade
There usually isn't much of an incentive to pre-order games from shops. Putting down cold hard cash long before ever having the pleasure of owning a game sounds pretty preposterous to some. However, perhaps the pre-order campaign for Prince of Persia will make hard-of-parting gamers rethink their ways.
So, what makes the Prince of Persia deal so good? Well, if you pre-order the game in North America, you'll be treated to a free upgrade to the Limited Edition version. This is the only way to get the LE version, and we must say it's a rather nice way of doing things. Considering that most Limited Editions add on an extra 20 bucks, this free, no additional cost set feels mightily attractive. For the full details on what's included in the LE version, check right after the break.

not enough to make me pre-order, since I'm not even positive that I want the game,
Dru @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:26PM
Agreed. It looks cool, but not the kind of game I would buy without reading some reviews first.
preciousdeath @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:18PM
That's enough for me. The game looks gorgeous (even though it's a rip-off of Okami).
Darkage @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:31PM
The inclusion of a second character (one that can also fly (WTF)) has really ruined this series for me.
farfisa @ Sep 3rd 2008 12:35PM
What, you don't think having a flying girl who you need to hold hands with every second jump is cool?
... yeah, me neither. I was totally excited by the look of this game until I saw that aspect of the gameplay.

I think this a great thing for them to do. It would definitely make me pre-order a other games if that was the pre-order bonus but not this game. I'll hold off for the demo.

the ideas behind the support character sounds amazing to me, all there to improve the flow of the game.
waiting for news on a LE eu version before i pre-order mine :p

first installment on the ps2 (sands of time) was great, the two that followed were shit, i hope this goes back to being like sands of time otherwise its a no go for me

I'll be interested in the game as soon as the Prince doesn't sound exactly like Nathan Drake.
Gambit07 @ Sep 2nd 2008 9:58PM
Haven't seen anything interesting about this game.

So this works...how? Am I supposed to just preorder this and hope GameStop gives me a limited edition instead of the regular edition, or what?
turkeybaster @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:03PM
This is a day one buy for me. I loved the first POP, hated the second, and thoroughly enjoyed the third. From what I can tell, they've really gone back to the roots of the first game in making it a very "enchanted" world--and for some reason the addition of the second character (the female) makes me think of ICO.
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 3rd 2008 12:36AM
Sounds sort of like an alright deal but seeing as the extra things aren't that special at least to me, i can see why there giving this deal, and the only game i ever played and liked from POP was one on the psp which was sands of time or something if its something like that one i'll give it a look...

The only place the i usually buy pre-orders from is Circuit City, they actually have a free $10 gift card when you buy their pre-orders...on most of the big games. Sometimes you get crappy shirts or a like stress-foam football (Madden) garbage. But a free 10 bucks is nice in my book.
NotSafe4Work @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:13AM
Looks sweet
Gonzo @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:56PM
Wow.
I'm surprised to see a game site even acknowledge that people see pre-odering as preposterous. Most sites encourage it wholeheartedly. Then again, your site doesn't seem to be fully paid for by Gamestop.
IMO, the only reason to preorder is if there's some really cool premium involved. The soundtrack and strategy guide could make it worth it.
pliny5678 @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:49PM
LE extras have never been attractive to me. I'll probably just rent this game anyway unless the reviews are stellar.
Muhammad Sabeeh Ali @ Sep 3rd 2008 10:28PM
This seems like a great idea. Sign me up :)
