Sackboys build the Joystiq logo
Download to PSP
So LittleBigPlanet is complete. You know this from our interview at Leipzig. We've been covering the game pretty closely since its reveal at GDC 2007, so we wanted something a little special for our PAX 2008 coverage. What could be more special than building the Joystiq logo and stickering the thing to death, before riding off in a fully-functional tank? We've sped it up and added some music you might be familiar with, to give you a bite sized, level building experience. Hopefully, for the LittleBigObsessed, we'll have the full 15 minute video available for you to check out soon.

Freaking amazing. Anticipation was killing me before; it's not any better now that I've seen this video.
Emyrs @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:09PM
not that i dont appreciate ANYTHING LBP, but thanks for giving me 1minute of nausea inducing camera shaking. common guys, i know youre trying to replicate the LBP videos weve all seen online or off of PSN, but YOU CANT SPEED UP A FILM OF A HAND CAM. it just looks like the world is shaking. A+ for effort, D- for video. I would like to see the entire 15minute piece if theres a chance though.
brandonshark @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:12PM
woo hoo bring on the 15minute video!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:12PM
I can't see the video, all there is, is white space. I'm on OS X Leopard and tried Safari & Firefox. Anyother link? Youtube, please!?
Iain @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:28PM
Maybe get on something else.
adolson @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:31PM
Same for me, I'm on debian with Firefox.
farfisa @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:45PM
I think all the links were busted for a while, but working fine now (OSX 10.5.4, Safari & Firefox)
Jerses @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:33PM
i cant imagine how much time will it take to make a 3 min level >______
Kxpuc @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:40PM
yea well when in doubt take a already built level and tweak the hell out of it to cut down on time
Damian @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:50PM
I cant make out whether i will love or hate this game , i fear that it will be the biggest over-hyped game since GTAIV .
There are so many amazing games coming this Autumn and i still haven't even got MGS4 yet.
I think this is a definite rent for me as at end of the day no matter how people try and dress it up its just a platformer .
This is nothing new or groundbreaking as claimed , I can remember mucking around with the Jet Set Willy editor for the Sinclair Spectrum 48k back in the mid Eighties . ( for those too young , this was the definitive platformer in Europe on the early computers commodores , sinclairs, BBC Micros , Amstrads )
Popfrogs @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:30PM
GTAIV didn't have the gaming press playing it for a year and a half before it dropped. Trust me, this game will be dope for most of us.
Iddy @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:54PM
New post on mm's blog site, mentions the game had finalised the lighting tools, and has gone gold :D
bruno @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:57PM
just got the sticker but the letters are damage so i cant even redeem it and gamestop wont give me a new one :(
Kungpao @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:11PM
The same thing happened to me. My GameStop agreed to exchange the damaged card for a new one. The clerk watched as I "opened" the new one in front of him to make sure it was ok.
The codes aren't active yet anyway, so you might tell the clerk that there's no way you redeemed it.
(Of course, it's possible a person with a code could write it down, damage the card, and lie about it to get a replacement from the store, but come on, who would do that? And the card wouldn't look believable anyway. So hopefully the clerk wouldn't accuse you of doing that.)
gumby @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:17PM
i'm completely confused by this game.
Gambit07 @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:29PM
One thing that worries me is that the level meter is almost half way with just that, if I remember correctly there are different level sizes, hopefully you guys were working on the smallest size.
Jack Tretton @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:50PM
The elephant in the LBP Home room is this: Very few people will have the patience to construct memorable levels from scratch. Quality from the community will be an agonizingly sloooow drip, and eventually the majority of folks will lose interest and move onto the Next Great Thing.
Aex @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:59PM
I guess that's where the DLC comes in, doesn't it :p
jimmygotsmack @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:58PM
Joystiq rolf logo? Why does the logo have rolf on it?
In anycase, nice.
Mr. Joe @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:41PM
it's rofl. not rolf. and they're doing that sticker stuff cuz it makes the game "fun."
jimmygotsmack @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:54PM
How dare they tell me something is fun. I will decide that for myself. I don't need their subliminal messages to tell me that.
hehe, my felt pillow sackbow will have a little megaman helmet drawn on.
Albanian_Killa @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:35PM
Amazing. I am definitely buying this game. I can't wait to see what kind of amazing levels will be made.
Mr. Joe @ Sep 2nd 2008 5:41PM
i'm with a couple others on here. what's the big deal about this game? you make a stage which seems like it'll take ages, run through it in a matter of seconds, repeat? what else? is there like one video that really grabs you and says "yes! this'll be groundbreaking?" or is it just hyped cuz it's a silly game and an exclusive?
Carlton @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:04AM
I'm sure the numerous professional journalists that gave this the "best of show" award at all those trade shows (for the second year running in many cases) didn't do so because the game is "silly" and exclusive.
(!)
This game comes with a 50-level story mode that the developers claim should take a minimum of 12 hours to complete. Most of the levels they have shown appear to be traditional 2D platforming fare a la Mario, but they have also demoed levels based on the games Linerider and Fall Down to show some of the other possibilites that are available. Once your done with the story mode you can go online and download thousands of user-generated levels. Disney have already announced their intention to make LBP DLC and you can guarantee that many professional developers will want to create their own LBP levels (especially Sony 1st party).
Even if you never touch the level editor, you will get more playtime for your money than with most other games. And for some us, the level-editor is still the biggest reason to get the game.
Mr. Joe @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:39PM
i respect what you say carlton. you did make it sound different. i know it's not "just a platformer" but i feel like the level creation is going to be fun at first, but just get tiring after a while. the length of the story mode does make it sound enticing, but the length to create a level seems daunting. but i guess a player can just download, and not worry about creation, which will most likely be me.
i also respect the journalists going out there to give us the latest vids and photos and declaring this best in show. but i guess i just need to rent it to figure out why.
Landser @ Sep 2nd 2008 6:05PM
The game is groundbreaking in the sense of "Gary's Mod", in that you can do/build just about anything your mind can think of. Therefore, the game will be as fun as you make it, or someone else for that matter, considering you can play other people's levels....
User created content is groundbreaking for a console, whether or not people will admit to it...
Besides, how many people played "Mario", and how many years did/have they played it??? Oh, yea, some people still do, they even make it so they can play it on their computer, wii, handheld gaming devices, mobile phones, so you can not say "platformers suck....", when the proof that is incorrect is right in front of you...
solidreid @ Sep 2nd 2008 7:58PM
SWEET!!!
ZudeoG80 @ Sep 2nd 2008 8:08PM
