Beware of the Home Beta Injector scam
We want to nip this one before it becomes a widespread problem. A program calling itself the "Home Beta Injector" will supposedly generate a redemption code for the Home beta by simply inputting a valid PSN e-mail address and password.
Sound too good to be true? Of course it is. The PlayStation team will NEVER ask for your password. Your password isn't used to generate codes for use on the PLAYSTATION Store. Instead, giving up your password means you're granting a stranger total access to your account, personal information and credit card. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.
If you've already given away your information, we recommend you contact PlayStation support. SCEA Legal is already trying to make sure this scam doesn't spread any further.

iritaded sony fan @ Sep 4th 2008 12:59AM
I agree except I called sony and talked to someone to warm them about a different version of this that came right into my PS3 mail system and they told me it was legit over the phone and that they needed the info in order to identify me as the PS3 owner that got chosen.
Well luckily I took out my credit card # before hand but I was pretty pissed that that Sony rep was such an idiot.
heypaul @ Sep 4th 2008 1:23AM
To "iritaded" sony fan:
You are "retarted."
anthonyjh @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:27PM
If people are stupid enough to fall for these paper thin scams, they deserve the consequences.
Vince UK @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:15PM
They were born stupid, they don't deserve being scammed.
Scammers deserve to be scammed.
anthonyjh @ Sep 4th 2008 1:44AM
I disagree entirely. If you can't protect yourself, you're useless.
JaseH @ Sep 4th 2008 8:10AM
anthonyjh, you would do well as a narrarator for the Nation Geographic channel.

Jerses @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:31PM

j.howlett @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:34PM

adolson @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:39PM
What? So you mean I did this all for nothing? :(
stargateheaven @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:27PM

Kodros @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:01PM
It's a scam...why would you even bother wasting your time?
Eddie @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:13PM
you are stupid... "lol" :-|
Rudy Strokavich @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:11PM
DAMN, I DID THIS AND NOW THEY CAN SEE MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
JaffaBoy @ Sep 4th 2008 5:15PM
Well stop posting comments here and get your account changed!
They shouldn't be able to use your card elsewhere but could use your account to buy games to download to their PS3
Wevie1978 @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:42PM
Funny thing is, stuff like this could force Sony's hands to release Home early. However unlikely, but i can wish right?
Popfrogs @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:35PM
If Sony was a little smarter, they'd update the PS3 news ticker thing warning about scams like this...
Phantom @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:43PM
I bet that it will be updated by the day after next , because it probably has to go through their system .
Tiptup300 @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:43PM
I hate people who think companies should warn about scams. You should just know. Warnings won't do anything till after you've been scammed.
mdnusa @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:51PM
where can I find the site for this I'm not gonna try I just want to look at it.
d stapes @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:18PM
um...total noob question, but what is a beta?
Tiptup300 @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:43PM
A type of wave.
kevin @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:55PM
corn.
Kspraydad @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:09PM
You are obviously bright enough to get a commenting account...use a little thing called GOOGLE and type your question there.
Kspraydad @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:13PM
Sorry...I shouldn't be rude.
Beta is a format for analog video and audio storage that was popular in the 80's. Sony is reintroducing it as a storage medium for the PS3 and some people are getting it before others.
Jer @ Sep 4th 2008 3:02PM
Kspraydad, you think I will be able to use my VHS recorder for storage also? Sweet!
LOL
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 4th 2008 12:27AM
Well that bites for the people who got scammed....
But the kind of funny thing is since i first look at the picture and then read, i almost though it was actually a way to get into the Home Beta and was about to look into it, but then i read lol XD.....='( it got my hopes up lol
ZeroCorpse @ Sep 4th 2008 1:43AM
Some wide-mouthed, small-brained phish are tempted by really stupid-easy bait.
Shame on you if you're so desperate as to fall for this!
d stapes @ Sep 4th 2008 12:10PM
kspraydad, thanks a bunch for the info...and the minor flame.
Rakoo1 @ Sep 4th 2008 3:36PM
