Capcom: 'PS3 has finally reached full swing'
Capcom, in a Q&A conference call for their Q1 financial results, expressed confidence in the PS3. When asked about whether they felt the PS3 install base was large enough to support big-budget titles like Resident Evil 5, Capcom responded with the following: "We believe that PS3 has finally reached full swing after looking at the success of Metal Gear Solid 4, as well as future large-scale title lineups. In addition, some reduction in the PS3's price was announced at the 2008 E3, and we can expect its spread to increase by next March when our Resident Evil 5 for PS3 will be released."
However, they haven't become Sony fanboys or anything. "We are not only focusing on PS3, we would also like to spread our supply of software evenly between Wii and Xbox 360 while their markets in the world increase in a similar manner to PS3." Either way, publisher after publisher have no choice but to see the newest sales figures and acknowledge the PS3's success.

Rob @ Sep 3rd 2008 11:00AM

I never doubted the PS3's success. it was just a matter of time before everybody realized it.
I'm happy to see 3rd parties playing nicely with Sony.

Finally! Better late than never I guess...

Yeah the gaming press sure does have a short memory. Makes for better stories I guess. Sony is always a slow burn with a new console.

I think the PS3 still hasn't reached it's full swing. Give it another 8-10 months.

Capcom has been making a crap ton onf games for the PS3 latley. With the re release of Street Fighter Alpha and 1942. SF 4 coming. My kids See Capcom as much as THQ. That's a good sign.

Exclusive Onimusha 4 for PS3 and I wont believe this as some PR spin to get people to realise RE5 is on the PS3. Whenever RE5 is mentioned, it is all '360 this, 360 that, best 360 game at E3 2008'
Ninjakamster (PS360 FTW!) @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:52PM
Good to hear this from them after the many times they have shafted the PS3 just recently, taking away DMC4 as an exclusive with 5gb install, mediocre port of Lost Planet with 5gb install, no beta for us for Street Fighter 2 HD Remix, losing Monster Hunter 3 altogether.

In before the "meh but what have they done lately" and the addition of r to make Crapcom.

What? You can't say #rap.

resident evil was never really exclusive to one console. just don't cut corners on the ps3 version and i'll be fine when i eventually get it
Fane @ Sep 3rd 2008 7:32PM
In fact, higher-ups at Capcom swore RE4 was a GC exclusive ("I'll cut off my head" or words to that effect), only to announce the PS2 version right after (?) the GC version's release. So, yeah, they haven't been exclusive.
Rowdehaj @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:22PM
I do hope Square Enix is PAYING ATTENTION for *once*.
Dreadhead541 @ Sep 3rd 2008 3:59PM
good, now start development of monster hunter 3 on ps3 back up again
monkeywithnoeyes @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:00PM
"publisher after publisher have no choice but to acknowledge the ps3's success".. eeerm yes, still doesnt take away the fact that the 360 is the one getting all the 3rd party exclusives and exclusive dlc though.
