New details on Resident Evil: Degeneration Blu-ray release
Resident Evil fans know how bad the RE movies are. Hopefully Resident Evil: Degeneration -- the CG movie featuring a seven-year Claire and Leon reunion -- will pick up the pieces and make everything good again. It won't be too long before we find out the answer to that as the Sony Pictures film is set to hit stores this winter.
If you're just dying to know more about this direct-to-Blu-ray film release, Blu-ray.com scored some skin-crawling details regarding the zombie flick. Video will be presented in "1.78:1 1080p AVC" which is complemented by a "5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack." With specs like that, stepping into the world of survival horror won't ever be the same. In addition to that info, a full list of Blu-ray Extras can be found after the break.

Wait , so there's been alot of talk about RE5 on the 360 , but if Sony owns the rights to Resident Evil , why they just force Capcom to make it a PS3 exclusive , or work something out where the PS3 version is obviously superiour .
Godzilla @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:12PM
Sony Owns the movie rights to the video game not the game it self. It would be like if Fox did the Halo movie. They don't own the rights to the game but to the movie.

Only the first Resi movie is bad imo
Metal_Gear @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:25PM
I liked the first (hated the soundtrack though yet I like some Marylin Manson songs) and second but didn't like the 3rd as they just seemed to kill everyone off, nothing memerable at all about it.
If this is Blu-Ray only, I could see SOny giving it quiet a push, it would really bump up a few extra sales of the PS3 from RE fans who havent joined the current generation yet and in turn allow them to be ready for RE5 on PS3.

The Resident Evil movies were not that bad. The first one was actually pretty good movie. The other to are fun popcorn movies. So "Resident Evil fans know how bad the RE movies are" not all apperantly feel that way.
DrunkRaba @ Sep 3rd 2008 10:56PM
I agree they have all been entertaining so far, though I have not seen Extinction yet.

HUGE fan of RE4 (I even liked the beautiful Outbreak) but even the biggest fans of RE must admit that the films are disappointing. C'mon, zombies rock: Grab some talent and make a decent one, dudes at Sony!
@Raba: Don't bother. (Worst yet.)

Yes, the Resident Evil movies WERE that bad. The third was the best, and it was merely awful, as opposed to "God Awful" and "Who Makes This Crap?"
dsr7997 @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:22PM
No they were not that bad, I can think of a ton of movies that I would consider bad that are a thousand times worse than the RE movies. I was really hoping for a DTS MA track but I guess it was too much to hope for that on a direct to video release. I am really looking forward to this one.

the resident evil movies were fun to me. they had enough of the game elements to make me happy. way better quality than the fmv of the first, though that still has charm.
jae29one @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:45PM
What would be hot, would be if Sony make the PS3 version of the game come with either the new RE move (depending of when that is released) Or Any other RE Movie as well.. Sort of like Stronghold.. Being that its Blu Ray.. That would set it apart for the 360 version.. Regardless of what anybody says.. The Resident Evil movies have an install base and made/make $$$$..

ok well im a Resident Evil fan and i like all the movies they made i don't get why people keep saying they bad i know it may piss people off that it has very little to do with the story from the game but that does not make it bad at all i think a the story they made in the movie was really well done i seen all 3 and i hope they make a other one aswell now they making this one it looks really good already and as myself knowing the characters its good to seem them ^_^

This RE fan liked all of the movies, even the weak Apocalypse. Don't speak for everyone!
captainsnake2000 @ Sep 3rd 2008 11:36PM
My daughters & I LOVED all of the RE movies! We're quite excited that they made another one. Nothing says Christmas Present like zombies!
Warner Young @ Sep 3rd 2008 11:54PM
Yup, gotta chime in and say I thought the movies weren't that bad, either. They weren't fine art, or even really great movies. But they served their purpose for me: they were entertaining. And that's all I want from most action movies.
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 4th 2008 12:34AM
The RE movies weren't bad at least not to me they were pretty good and entertaining which is what an action movie should be well at least entertaining, and so im guessing this movie is going to be in animation or something like that?
lee @ Sep 4th 2008 6:57AM
this maybe the first blu-ray movie i buy!
i love RE :)
silverwolf761 @ Sep 4th 2008 10:26AM
I saw the first RE movie, and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but Zombie Dogs are far less frightening when you can just kick them in the face and break their neck.
A friend of mine told me out the second movie, and from his description, I REFUSE to see it. I mean seriously, a sentimental, heartfelt moment..... with NEMESIS?!
Bighurt @ Sep 4th 2008 11:01AM
Nice
dabamf @ Sep 4th 2008 11:33AM
The Resident Evil movies are not that bad, except for Apocalypse. Just the same, I'm really excited to see this movie.
Courtney @ Sep 4th 2008 5:34PM
Voice Bloopers? Really, that's a bonus feature? Maybe that's a common feature in animated movies, but seems like kind of a boring extra.
