Resistance 2 public beta slightly delayed
For the longest time now, we've heard that the public beta for Resistance 2 was scheduled for late September. However, now we're hearing that it's being pushed back to early October. The news comes as a mild-mannered note attached to a Resistance 2 press release regarding the North American release date (which is November 4 by the way).
We suspect the slight delay is a direct repercussion of the SOCOM: Confrontation beta delay. With the SOCOM beta running slightly behind schedule, the R2 beta probably found itself following footsteps. The SOCOM beta now ends by October 5, and we'd expect the R2 beta to start no earlier than that.

When did someone decide it is ok for devs to delay a "beta", which is already not supposed to be perfect??
Maybe they should start calling them "demos" instead....

Because the point of Beta's is to find things devs missed ,
the socom team probably didn't fix the obvious ones yet , and the R2 beta was delayed so it doesn't compete with Socom .

Agreed. I might as well freaking wait until the game comes out, assuming it even arrives on time. Their failed promises really tick me off, especially when I'm trying to defend the reason I sold my Xbox 360 the other day. I keep hearing from others stuff like, "Dude, now you're gonna get all your games much later than 360 owners," and it's hard to say no when you look at Sony's track record this generation.
I guess better late than never, though. Late is always better than cancelled (like Eight Days >:S ).

have some patience man

boy what some babies here lol cry over a delayed beta. get over it.
Metal_Gear @ Sep 3rd 2008 1:40PM
Beta... Beta... mabey they found something from Alpha they didn't want to push in Beta because people judge the game from concept sketches now.

It's weird how worked up people get about this stuff. I remember when people would be writing death threats because of delayed albeit free PSP firmware updates. Very odd, it's not like anyone bought the system with the understand that they would be getting all of these additional free new features.
Same thing with these demo files.
Just because the doctor plans on delivering the baby on a certain date doesn't mean the doctor will. No need to hate on the doctor as he can only speculate on how quickly the baby will be ready.

you thinkin this is bad go to the ps3 forums its a whine fest especailly with home there filled with emo kids who havent got invited yet or wat not and i thin 90 percent of the people who are in these betas dont report stuff that needs to get fixed. Then whine that the game is buggy as heck when it comes out.
j.howlett @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:33PM
wow you're so witty and clever *and original
jcgrech @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:41PM
Umm--Isn't the R2 public beta was already out. I got an invite over a week ago and have been participating in it.
mint400 @ Sep 3rd 2008 3:53PM
so YOU're that guy.
travi @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:48PM
I was excited about R2, especially MP. I got private beta invitation, and after giving it a few tries, I'm sadly dissapointed. I am hoping now, SOCOM beta gives me some hope for some new online FPS multi player action this winter.
Vcize @ Sep 3rd 2008 4:02PM
Don't give up yet. The CoD4 beta set high standards, but this is still a beta.
R1 was fairly polished, so I find it hard to believe that all the lack of polish in these builds of R2 won't be cleaned up by release, even though it is a bit worrisome that they're still there this close to release.

If your doctor made your baby, then you should probably have a long chat with your wife...
SnazzyD @ Sep 3rd 2008 3:57PM
You guys need to get a life, already. Especially the 360 trolls - seriously, you could't come off as more pathetic. If something as trivial as a beta release date is of such importance to you, I think it's time for you to move out of your parent's basement and into the real world...
lorddshadow @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:22PM
i'm fine with this since i'm in both. i was worrying that i would miss some of the socom beta but this makes me feel better. this is actually a good delay!
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 3rd 2008 5:43PM
well isn't this a surprise well whatever just some more waiting and waiting and waiting and sum boredom in there too..
johnson412 @ Sep 3rd 2008 6:02PM
All this complaining is really sad. Gamers these days are so whiny it's ridiculous. One minute they're saying "I wish games would just release when they're ready and not rush things." The next, they're getting all butthurt about a beta being pushed back a week or so.
Yeah, delays suck. But you can either wait for a good game or play a lot of crappy games continuously. And why do people treat PlayStation delays so much worse? The Xbox 360 didn't even have a spring update, and nobody remembers all the games that were supposed to be Wii launch titles? They promised Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and more at one time or another. This isn't a bash on the other systems necessarily (I have all three), but this stuff just happens.
Arnon @ Sep 3rd 2008 8:24PM
Except this is a beta.. not a full game or software update. The whole point of the beta is to find out what needs to be done for the game.. and they obviously cant do that if they don't release it. XD
j.howlett @ Sep 3rd 2008 9:14PM
oh look it says in the article they might have moved it that whole long week as to not interfere with the socom beta that got held up a week
Arnon @ Sep 3rd 2008 11:19PM
Well yeah, I'm not saying it's -not- coming out, I'm just saying that it shouldn't be delayed.. it's a beta =/
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 4th 2008 12:12AM
The thing is most of the betas and games and wut not have been delayed so far for sony and to me this things just make you look bad by saying we'll have it out this date or around this and once the date gets close they decide to delay and change it which sometime pisses me off since i look forward to it since not many great things are out for it right now, at least that i know, but then again wut can i do...
but all im saying is that they need to kind of keep release dates to themselves now because this is just getting pretty ridiculous at least to me it is...
but like i said ill just keep waiting and waiting and waiting....=/
