Dissidia: Final Fantasy trailer shows off Kefka & more

With Dissidia, Square Enix's upcoming PSP-exclusive brawler, coming by year's end in Japan, the company has been quick to release tons of new videos for Final Fantasy fans everywhere. This new trailer shows a lot more CG, a lot more action, and even highlights Final Fantasy VI's Kefka -- a favorite character for many fans of the franchise.

opps my bad when i watched it over and over on my psp it wasn't vincent it was firion confuse cause the cape hmmm maybe ff7 could be angeal,cloud or zack this is just my guess

When the trailers first hit, I thought Firion was Locke from VI, I was pumped. Firion is still cool though, but I would have loved to see Locke.

Umm Rossgough...Terras a girl dude not a guy. Shes one of the main characters of FF6. But I am sooo glad they are putting Kefka in it, he is hella badass. It'd be cool to see someone besides cloud be in the game thjough, maybe Zack or something would be pretty cool, even Vincent or Cid (love ff7 cid)

I prefer Cloud, I mean come on we haven't got to use him sense the original FF7 all this compilation crap and no Cloud not even as fanservice. Just let me play as him one more time please. I don't understand though they said one hero and one villain from each game so why is Squall fighting Sephiroth and who's the hero (or preferrablly heroine) from FF6 we got Kefka. What's with the secrets!!

maybe cloud is out of commission, and the teams needs to find him, rescue him, take him out of cryostasis(LOL) etc. that would make the game idolize him though...

This is so depressing to read. The comments. Im hearing Terras a guy and no fan service if there's no Cloud. Well just to inform you Cloud has been in a lot of freakin games, Ehrgize, FF:Tactics, Before Crisis (Jap only phone game), as well as guest appearances. I would have to say that after playing CC, I think Zack is so much better then Cloud and should be the one in Dissidia.

I'm pretty sure Cloud's going to be in it. They just haven't revealed him yet. Same for VI's hero/heroine (leaning towards having Terra representing VI, actually).

A friend called it a while ago - Mark Hamill as Kefka's English voice.

He did awesome work as the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and I'm sure he can do justice to Kefka.

Oh. My. Hyne.

I was almost tearing from watching this (might've if I'd made the video bigger), and I'm torn about my typical actions with games. I like to wait until the Greatest Hits (or equiv.) is out, but this... this is so beautiful, so comprehensive. I am honestly anticipant of the English version, not only for knowing what the story's about, but to hear voices -- familiar and new -- giving further life to these characters. And, really, Jecht's English voice is much better, Tidus's has proven to be capable of non-irritating through FFX-2, and Cefca/Kefka's would do well not to sound _quite_ like it does here (as would Zidane's). I could even bear name changes (Frioniel, Golbez, etc.), since I am confident that whatever we're given will be so top-notch that we'd be good to fully forget the original namings.

Also: Very glad that everything's going with the Amano base and a Nomura polish. It really is a nice combination of style and coherence, since we know Nomura can pull off extravagance in his drawings, but little dangly things will always be > excessive zippers. Not sure if the dangly things on Seph's belt work al that well, but that his shoulder pads/armor has stripes helps to make his simple/bland/minimalist design fit in with everything else.

Anyone else keep having a WMD android pop into their head during the intro dialogues?

You can see every character in this trailer if you try hard enough.

There are 10 characters at that gathering near the beginning of the trailer, you can sort of make out Terra, Cecil, Cloud, and Bartz.

Ohhh! Perhaps foreshadowing a future announcement with the demon rising from the volcano and the hand coming out of the cloud?

Cloud HAS to be in it, cause well... he is like everyone's favorite FF character of all time :p The volcano guy could represent ... I unno

Do you keep up with this game, or even look at the logo? The cloudy hand is that of Cosmos (not to be confused with the sexy yet despondant android) and the volcano creature is Chaos (a la FFI).

Besides, Cloud being a heavenly presence is rather against his shown character. Aerith would be a more likely candidate, but she's too specific to be in the role this new Cosmos character is serving.
