PS3 Rock Band export service out this week, PAX pack fixed
The patch we talked about last week regarding the Rock Band track export service will come out this Thursday, September 11. While you might not find the service all too useful just yet, seeing as PS3 owners won't be getting Rock Band 2 this month, you'll still want to download the patch. The reason for that is that it'll also include Guitar Hero III Les Paul PS3 Controller support for Rock Band.
Aside from that announcement, Harmonix has also responded to the PAX pack problem. The company cited that the song "Livin' on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe" (how appropriately named) by MC Frontalot, was the cause of the imbroglio. "Users who downloaded that track or the entire pack found that they were not able to play this content in the game. Furthermore, downloading the pack meant that all three songs in the pack failed to load." The new patch out on Thursday will also fix this little snag; though impatient lot can re-download and replace their tracks as soon as the fixed tracks make it through to Sony.

Les Paul support?!?! Finally...
Hunts314 @ Sep 7th 2008 1:40PM
while this is good news, its too bad it took them so long to sort this out. I already ditched my Les Paul. oh well I like the frontman just fine.
Averna @ Sep 7th 2008 7:35PM
I 'nearly' got rid of mine, by sending it to a mate. Now he can have the GH3 disc only.
strike @ Sep 7th 2008 12:57PM
Hey, wheres Kylie's article this week? It usually comes out fridays, right?
kevin @ Sep 7th 2008 2:47PM
they are lame to me. but its usually weekends.
the reason i find them lame is because of all the misleading links she has .
strike @ Sep 7th 2008 3:19PM
Hey, JaseH. is this about what I said in the last article? Ohhhh, nice comeback, really made me laugh, if only I could think of what to say next...... This means war!

Hey Strike,
I'm with you on this one. People shouldn't begin arguements with other loyal fans.
Ben Forbes @ Sep 7th 2008 4:01PM
Hey, you guys know that Kylie's a guy, right?
... yeah. I ain't kidding.
JaseH @ Sep 7th 2008 4:54PM
First of all, Kylie is a guy.
Second of all, a cracked that joke out of no where. I don't even know you Strike, and I don't even want to. Maybe you should harden the fark up & take a joke once in a while.
You're pathetic.

Come to think of it, I may have been reading a little too much into it.
I read 1.3.1.4's response & felt like I was made out to have been looking for an arguement, which was false.
My bad Strike, misunderstanding.

Any word yet if you can delete individual songs?
LatinoLA1 @ Sep 7th 2008 1:14PM
i dont remeber so can anyone refresh my mind because i think you do have to pay for it, but im not sure, so do you have to pay for this patch?
mewoks @ Sep 7th 2008 1:59PM
The patch itself is free. It will add an "export" option under the options menu, however, in order to proceed with the export, you must download a $5 "license".
Kspraydad @ Sep 7th 2008 1:28PM
Please clarify:
Are they REALLY allowing you to copy all songs (less 3) from the RB1 disc for $5????
There is NOTHING preventing you from just borrowing the disc, ripping for $5, and giving the disc back to your friends?
Seems a good deal to get RB2 with double content for $5 extra (for newcomers to RB that is)
Phantom @ Sep 7th 2008 3:33PM
Well , harmonix has to at least get somebody's 5 dollars , and besides , it's not like there's anybody who would buy RB2 without owning the first one .
Like , who DOESN'T have Rock Band .
Andy @ Sep 7th 2008 4:38PM
Actually, they already paid the artists their fees when people bought rock band 1. It's not like someone could just download this patch without buying RB1 first, so I don't understand why we need the $5 fee. Every user that is downloading it BOUGHT RB1, meaning the fees already got paid to the artists for those songs. This is overkill.
Brodie-san @ Sep 7th 2008 4:56PM
"Like, who DOESN'T have Rock Band?"
Europe?
It's only getting released here this week.
mewoks @ Sep 7th 2008 1:56PM
The PAX pack and Frontalot song have been fixed since yesterday morning, for the record. I don't know why HMXSean made it sound like they were still broken when they announced this.
So feel free to download the pack or the single! Or redownload, if it was broken for your previously.
clif @ Sep 7th 2008 2:27PM
i wonder if this will include all of the updates that xboxers got on their title update last week. specifically the lowering of the goldstar threshold, and the fixing of "unhittable notes"
kevin @ Sep 7th 2008 4:08PM
and headset compability would be AWESOME
clif @ Sep 8th 2008 9:25AM
headset?
as it stands now you can play the game with one (usb for sure, idk about bluetooth) as a mic.
but if you're asking about voice chat, that is a RB2 feature.
realityzero @ Sep 7th 2008 5:16PM
Sweet I no longer have to buy a second guitar so that someone can play bass!
OddyOh @ Sep 7th 2008 4:36PM
So are there any free compensation songs coming, or is this par for the course? Not that I care, just saying.

I hate to say it, but RB/GH are so last year. They pissed me off when they refused to make the GH2/GH:80's compatible with the PS3 and I'm having a hard time understanding what they can possibly do to make future iterations different than previous versions. I kind of feel like these rhythm games are the new madden.
stawnkald @ Sep 7th 2008 6:24PM
This is also working in reverse: Guitar Hero Aerosmith got a patch today (I guess) to work with the Rock Band guitar. I just played a few songs with it, works great.
No patch for Guitar Hero 3 yet, but I'm guessing that'll be here soon.
kevin @ Sep 7th 2008 7:13PM
that would be AWESOME.
as i play with the controller now :(
Christ-ian @ Sep 8th 2008 8:43PM
Man. This is such a sweet day. I'm stoked as hell that cross compatibility is actually happening. Like.... literally, not just ass-backward conjecture. Soooo happy.
Now lets see that GH3 update!
Jamie @ Sep 16th 2008 7:08AM
is this for the UK PS3? because i havent had my patch yet, it keeps saying i need a microphone when i want to play with my guitar hero guitar.
Darren S @ Sep 16th 2008 12:20PM
stupid question. but how do you download the patch. sorry, i'm new
Chad R @ Sep 18th 2008 2:51AM
Stupid question perhaps...after downloading the key, and exporting my music from RB1, where do the songs go to? I know they save to the HDD, but is there a file anywhere so that I can verify that the process actually took place?
