GameStop to stock Ion Drum Rocker in selected locations

What? You want to pay 300 clams for a Rock Band 2 peripheral? You can now count GameStop in as one of the few retailers that will stock the $299.99 Ion Rock Band Drum Rocker. Yesterday at GameStop eXpo 2008, executives for the company revealed that this luxury controller will be sold at a selected number of their stores. Because of the size (and demand) limitations of each store, GameStop plans to implement a system where you can order the Drum Rocker at your local store for pickup or directly to your home sweet home.
What we are not sure about is, why would you drive all the way to GameStop to order this to have it delivered to your home? You can order the Drum Rocker (albeit the 360 version only for the time being) on both the official site and Amazon and save a trip to GameStop.

The prices are getting out of control now for these games with Periphials, come on $300 in a slumping economy for a toy drum set? I can buy 5 copies of little big planet for that price :)

dont forget that you need the game two to play with that drum so add 2 more little big planet games.
I wonder... how much does a real drum cost? is i was a parent i wouldnt let my child play with plastic instruments that have the same value as the real ones.

I think you guys are missing the point. First off, this ISN'T a cheap plastic toy. It's a much higher quality controller, and a real electronic drum kit. That's the whole allure, to be able to get comfortable on this kit with Rock Band as a sort of training program, then unplugging the game and rocking out for yourself.
I was initially interested in the kit at first, because I've been thinking of replacing my real, acoustic drums with an e-kit. While I'm at it, why not kill two birds with one stone and get this kit so I can also get rid of my Rock Band drums at the same time, freeing up even more space. Unfortunately though, this kit is looking worse and worse. No hi-hat pedal? Crappy free-floating kick pedal? FAIL

it can be used as a electronic drumset moron.

actually it is a real electronic drum set :)

If it actually added discrete cymbals to the game, it might be worth three bills. I can see how some people would appreciate the attempt at added realism, but simply throwing in boom-mounted triggers for the yellow and blue toms doesn't do much for me.
I want to use the cymbals as part of the game, not just do it if I feel like it. That's probably the biggest reason I'm looking forward to GH:World Tour.

I feel like a Mastercard commercial.
Want: $300 Controller for pretend music game
Real Drum Set: less than $300
Buyer of $300 Controller: someone with too much time and money
What the hey! Buy the thing if you got the dough and post some rockin' pics with your Def Leppard tee on! But play with only ONE arm....

you can get another foot pedal for the high hat if you want. then you can order the mod or brain for the set too and use the second pedal to work the high hat. Not sure how that will work tho but you can.

I actually researched about the hi-hat pedal problem because i want to be able to use an actaul e-drum kit to highest extent that i can. anyways, you can purchase a electronic bass pad usually found on high end electronic drum kits and hook that up to the brain module and with the pedal that comes with the kit, all u need to do is slide it over to the left, and hook that up so u can use it as a high hat pedal. if you go to the alesis website, you will notice that they use that same exact pedal as a high hat pedal on all of their other e-drum kits.
