LittleBigPlanet beta will possibly be announced on official news site

Late last week, a community manager at the PlayStation.com forums indicated that there will be a "limited public beta" for LittleBigPlanet. He didn't tell us how we are going to get in, but we may now have a clue. We noticed that the above Google ad for LBP states the following:
"New Playstation 3 Game - LittleBigPlanet.us.PlayStation.com - LittleBigPlanet. Play. Create. Share. Sign up for the beta now!"
Where does the advertisement lead us? To the official LittleBigPlanet news site. We didn't see anything about signing up for the beta, but does this mean we'll be able to on the news site at some point? You know you'll hear about it from us as soon as anything is announced, so stay tuned!

this game is going to be awesome, this is the only game coming out this season that is actually bringing something NEW to the table, unlike all the hashed shooters (gears of crap 1.5) and garbage rpgs (fable 2) :), everyone with a PS3 will be grabbin this... I can't wait

I thought it was a scam. Like Many ads i got in the same manner promising "$40 PS3s! Delivered right to my door!"
But clicking it did look like the official site, i was just afraid they copied the source somehow and found a similar URL. Like all those www.shop.ebay.com scams or whatever.
Just be careful about giving your PSN Info away, especially when you have a CC linked to it

bleah. BF: BC. R2. Home. What's the point of all these beta's if a common working person such as myself can't get into any of them short of PAYING for it through pre-orders (presuming they exist).
stargateheaven @ Sep 12th 2008 6:00AM
What beta did you have to pay for?
Ben @ Sep 12th 2008 6:27AM
I didn't pay for the Home Beta... Nor the R2 one.
kentuckyfried @ Sep 12th 2008 7:24AM
MGO beta: had to pre-order MGS4. Socom:C beta: had to pre-order Socom. You get the picture...
*sniff sniff* it's sad b/c I not in the 18-24 demographic I guess they're targeting, so I've yet to get into any of the closed beta's of any sort.

No. It's a way of life, dude.

I hope this is legit and hopefully they will release enough invites for a good share of people to play. Every video that I watch of this game just says GOTY!! Just about a month away guys!! LBP FTW
Topher07 @ Sep 12th 2008 10:43AM
I thought it was done. Its being released in a month. I really hope that if they run a beta they don't end up pulling it from its release date because that would absolutely suck if the only problem with LBP is the servers screwed up during a limited beta the did a few weeks before release. Just ship the friggen game already!!!!! If they released it tomorrow for $90 I would buy it, bugs and all.

Why do so many people assume they should have a god given right to be involved in ANY beta?
Only in the last couple of years has it even been possible to really do *public* betas, and they are doing it. They never used to, and funnily enough gaming has actually survived it simply by using private testers.
If people want to be involved in Beta's, then there are groups you can contact and be more actively involved as a volunteer, however people moaning because they're not able to pick and chose to be involved in only the biggest games of the year and see it as nothing more than an early demo should just STFU.
If you want to help, there are plenty of ways to do so, otherwise stop complaining that there arent opportunities because there are plenty, and even the private beta people have to accept sometimes they're not involved in the ones we want to do, and some have gone to public beta without a private beta (only closed beta which is far more selective).
Suck it up people.
