MotorStorm Pacific Rift officially out by October 28
If Pure isn't your thing, then there's always MotorStorm Pacific Rift to bring you more off-road racing action on your PS3. Luckily, the mudslinging, dirt-in-face title won't keep you waiting long as an official October 28 release for North America is now set in stone.
With 4-player split screen, 16 multi-route tracks, and Trophies, it might be hard to say no to this one. Just don't be left in the dust and check out the demo which is out now via Qore. Better yet, brush up on your knowledge and read some previews.

The demo is not out via quore yet...
I saw this new and canceled the pain update download to get the MS:PR demo anda the demo is not there...

First one was decent, but had some big flaws such as the lack of local multiplayer and the horrendous load times. Since the multiplayer issue is fixed lets hope they shorten the loads......

The first one had great graphics but i think the steering could have used a little more tightening. 2 b honest after i played the Pure demo, idk if i'll still b getting this.
Pure was intense!!

4-player split screen sells it too me. Not enough games this generation do it, so those that do get extra points.
Ayrkain @ Sep 11th 2008 1:23PM
There's a Gamestop exclusive demo also if you pre-order.

The Demo is not out now via Qore.
I just check it out, and its still a no go.

I really hope they added some sort of story element this time. I was bummed to get the "congratulations" message after placing 1st in every damned race. Reminded me of the old Capcom games..."Try again on a harder level"
jarhead906 @ Sep 12th 2008 3:47PM
I thought that the Motorstorm series was intended to be arcade-like? Thats why I'm not to bummed out on it not being like GT 5 (Prologue), because I just wanna race man and create chaos amongst the competition.
More games need to have visuals like Motorstorm (and PR).
Pure isn't as intense. And the Disney logo inspires some bias in me. I know that's unfair but I can't help it.

It's a shame we've had to wait a year and a half for local multiplayer, but I appreciate that they made it 4 instead of just 2 player. While I was excited for this title's release, it has made the mistake of coming out just after Rock Band 2 and LittleBigPlanet, making it a "pick it up later" title for a lot of people I fear.

AARRRG i wanted it to come out atleast 2 weeks before LBP to give me time to play it with no other game distractions. oh well, atleast they are both completely different games. atleast its not two similar cames like R2 and KZ2 coming out close together.

This will be a day one purchase for me. MS is amazing. IMO, load times were justified due to it being:
a) a 1st-gen title
b) having massive tracks
and
c) being graphically impressive
Just having 4-player offline mutliplayer makes it worth it let alone the other extras.....

still no love from Qore on the demo :'(
Can someone let us know if you spot it ? That would be sweet. you my peeps !

I have already downloaded and played the demo several times. I got it from Gamestop when I preordered. The demo only uses the two-player split screen. The controls actually seem to be a little too loose. They seem more loose than the first. The music is back and better than ever, but the game needs a little more work. The tracks look good, but no lava or water;(.
The jumps make you feel like you are floating in air for way too long. The first had a feel of gravity. The rally car has that horrible stretched feel some racing games give the length of their cars to instill the sense of depth. The music was too loud in the demo and at times it was hard to hear the overheating.
So far, I think the wrecks in the first MS were more fun. These seem shallow for some reason. Haven't quite put my finger on it yet. Their is more to the wreck now, but not enough. With the detailed wrecks we are getting in Burnout Paradise, I expected a lot more from Pacific Rift. Afterall, the wrecks are a major part of this game.
I will play it some more and report back any other feelings I may have. If you have any questions about it, let me know and I will try to answer them via this post. Otherwise, you could contact me through layeredcontent.com. It is my own personal site and not commercial.

Great. Just great. The same day as Fallout 3. My wallet will be hurting.

I downloaded from Qore last night and like the game. It's not exactly like the first, but still a good game.
In 1 I really liked the Motion steering; in 2 it's with the left hand arrow keys, but there is Motion tilt.
All in all it's not a bad game.
